I was in Fallujah in 2003 running a convoy escort security mission about a week before the Blackwater guys got hit. Lots of burned out armor was still in the area at that time, IED"s were a new thing to us, and all we has were non armored humvees for patrol. Up-armors weren't in theater for another six months. The interiors would hit 140 degrees in the summer, man I dont miss that, Watching the passing traffic , especially the white sedans brought back some memories from back in the day. having a pair of Apaches assist with convoys was always a welcome sight to us grunts on the ground. Thanks for a great mission and some memories.

Also drewski was about to tell him about how many people can actually do that and live
autorotations are so hard to do that I honestly think you have to practice it enough to be able to talk people through it. I'm to the point where I know the steps to take, but I just can't do it properly. it's so hard to do lol(especially in arma, the ingame flight models are so shitty)
u have to realiz that everybody there has played the game for years and are still learning new things everyday. itd take months of constant grinding adn learning to know how to do everything and also oud have to find a dedicated mislim and schedule everything too

the whole series of events from 29:41 through to 30:23 was hilarious. practically walks over an IED, team mate stares at IED in disbelief, sniper round deletes cover, J goes rambo at the sniper and fails to see his cover has betrayed him, and also cannot hear Drew shouting to get in cover as his gun is so damn loud then realises his cover has gone and scarpers. 11/10

The way the gameplay perspective shifts from the ground cam to IR BHOT cam in he beginning of the video supported by the professional milsim radio chat feels much better than many army movie scenes trying to build tension. And this is just a game ! Gamer power ! It pleased a film critic !
that autorotation in the helicopter made me buy the game. I work on apache for the army and that is one of the scariest things pilots have told me about. handled beautifully one difference, is if the helicopter is not repairable, they have the right to blow the helicopter in place, if they can fly it out of there, a DART(down aircraft recovery team) goes out, pulls security, fixes the helicopter and some maintenance test pilots(uses highly skilled pilots) fly it home. Each pilots goes through SERE training in events like this
My neighbor who I go to church with went through something really similar to this. I don't think he was shot down, I think he had a catastrophic and highly kinetic engine failure in the middle of a patrol. Pilot died on impact, he get busted up but was ambular and hid for a while to evade capture. Had to set off some explosives in the Apache and run away. He was picked up by Marines who recovered the body of the pilot, which had been mutilated by the bad guys. I'm not sure who they were fighting, I think it was boko haram or early ISIL. Whoever it was, they were YEETING TOWs at the recovery teams but got absolutely destroyed by the Marines. One of my friends that I went to Nepal with was on the recovery team and got his purple heart that day for taking an RPK round through his shoulder which broke his clavicle, shattered his humerus, destroyed the tendons, eviscerated some muscle, ruptured his thoracoacromial artery and almost killed him. My neighbor still hobbles into church every Sunday, is one of the best fabricators/Welders/Machinists I've ever met, and has a healthy flock of really really cute ducks/chickens. Has a thousand yard stare that makes you shiver, a big ass scar across his face and a fucked up lip, and brings us eggs every few weeks. Great guy. Amazing person.

might i suggest the "turret enhanced" mod. that way it will show the grid you are looking at, and the bearing, on the HUD as it does in real life. that mod also adds and option to add map markers where you are looking trough the scroll menu. its a really nice to have mod when you do stuff like helicopter gunner, or CAS pilot. workshop ID: =1623498241
@@hmmyou2544 the Vanilla HUD shows you the Grid your UAV is at in the bottom left, but it does not show the Grid you are looking at with the Sensor Turret, no matter if you have the laser on or not, the Grid in the bottom left does not change if your UAV is hovering in position. the Turret enhanced mod shows both the Grid your sensor is located, and the Grid your sensor is looking at, which is realistic.

Even stone or brick walls of house structures can be penetrated by helicopter's miniguns
Realistically most walls provide little protection against bullet penetration, especially against high caliber snipers

marines are better i used to be a AH-1Z viper pilot for 6 years then joined the air force as a boom stick operator for the KC-135

Yeah, Drew seems to really be good at working with real vets and keeping the BS out of his vids (tho he has his BS moments... i.e. "The fruit is eating me!", LOL!). He has lots of respect in the streaming community because of it... and lots of imitators.
The true realism is the absurd moments... like your cover just collapsing haha
might i suggest the "turret enhanced" mod. that way it will show the grid you are looking at, and the bearing, on the HUD as it does in real life. that mod also adds and option to add map markers where you are looking trough the scroll menu. its a really nice to have mod when you do stuff like helicopter gunner, or CAS pilot.

Im pretty sure some turrets have that enabled. I know for certain the UAVs do
@@hmmyou2544 the Vanilla HUD shows you the Grid your UAV is at in the bottom left, but it does not show the Grid you are looking at with the Sensor Turret, no matter if you have the laser on or not, the Grid in the bottom left does not change if your UAV is hovering in position.
the Turret enhanced mod shows both the Grid your sensor is located, and the Grid your sensor is looking at, which is realistic.
