this was exceptional, the different POV's really give a comprehensive view of what's going on. I've never seen operations and milsim in general covered so well. Excellent work man!
This was a very early Christmas themed Op. The vibe on the ground as assault team was way less serious than is presented. 😂. We tried to organize squads and fireteams using green and red chemlights. Was fun using civilian transport for exfil. Saint Nick was brought home safely.

I literally just got reinterested in the AC-130 and downloaded it in ArmA again 2 days ago. This videos timing and execution was basically perfect.

i just learned apparently in new AC130s they removed the 20mm GAU and the 40mm bofors and just put in a 30mm autocannon
But the new AC-130J and Ws can now carry GBU-39 SDB, GBU-69, AGM-179, and AGM-114. Afaik they can also carry the GBU-53, but I could be wrong. Removing the 20mm and 40mm, adding bombs/missiles and the 30mm GAU-23 does make it an overall more effective platform.
You mean 25mm and 40mm L/60. It's okay to be replace them by twin 30mm chainguns as long as they are accurate previously when they tried they were unable to get them accurate enough, this was for single 30mm. Beside that I still want 105mm howitzer. All the other pgm are also good addition.

@@ghostbirdlary The problem with 30mm accuracy and having to reinstall 25mm gatling and 40mm guns also lead finding about that USAF doesn't have enough 40mm L/60 ammo in inventory so they have search through the inventories of NATO allies for some like Greece. Bofors replaced them 40 L/70 and 57mm guns post WW2. At least with F35 introduction USAF won't have problem with finding 25mm ammo, previously only USMC AV-8 series harriers had it.

Arma is one of those games that keeps on giving from one of the best communities in gaming hands down.
So apparently the giant laser pointer thing is actually a thing that AC130's have.... they just don't use it very much, because, you know, one end of the laser is pointing at the target and the other end of the laser is pointing at you

I hear they use their laser as a 'start shit, get hit' signal against grey-zone targets.
well usually they use IR lasers, and IR night vision. so you can only see the laser in NV
Man, I'd love to find a group of guys like this to play COOP with again... Been playing since the European release of OFP back in early 2001, none of my old squad mates are interested anymore, they're all old and married and never have time anymore. Great video, frigging awesome.

I was looking at this battlefield and saying to myself "This place reminds me of Chernarus" just as Karma mentions they are coming in from Stary Sobor and I then said "I need to go touch grass"
Ps: I have a few hundred hours in Dayz and know the map well from that experience but never played Arma so this was a cool thing to see.

i remember watching a documentary about the Taliban and they were interviewing one of the leaders. they said they were only scared of one thing during war and thats the Angel of Death - the AC130 Whiskey.

This was absolutely fascinating to watch.. Being able to witness the operation through various different perspectives on the ground and in the air truly enriched the ability to convey what was happening at every step along the way. Almost as engrossing as actual combat, only without the misery and spectator guilt.
Thoroughly enjoyed this!! Editing/multi-view/etc, the whole look and feel of this was damn good dude, well made!! :D

What do you guys use to modify the thermal imaging? After the Arma 3 thermal update, everything is just awful looking in thermal ISR.
More videos of missions like this, please. If you want to add some additional suspense, sometimes one or two of the guns go down on the aging AC-130's. You could use a normal 6-sided die to determine which one(s), then have to make due with whatever gun(s) are functional.

Jesus, the shot of the Techie getting absolutely washed out by the fire (is that a gau 8? the a10 gun) I thought the c130 had artillery, big shells.
Depends what platform. Anything but newest AC-130s carry the GAU-12 25mm Gatling gun (what creamed the technical), 40mm Bofors or the L/60, and the 105mm Howitzer. The new 130s are two 30mm chain guns and the 105mm, plus varied munitions. So yeah, depends what Arma put in there.

When was flying into a possible enemy area and shutting down a thing? Those birds are just asking to be taken out. You drop on the deck, Joe's offload and the air assets bug off. Ensure you have a possible evac if it goes South.

My god. He has a laser range finder on that LAT kit and still misses by hundreds of meters 😭
Ya know being in a jet and getting hit by a sam is one thing and with today's technology its survivable. But imagine your the gunner of one of these AC 130's and all of a sudden the tail becomes separated from the plane sucking everyone or engulfing everyone in flames until you hit the ground. Theres no ejection seats in these. The gunners are literally standing up and walking around back there. I just couldnt imagine.
Can you give a link to the workshop to that?
What mod do you have for such an improvement in the thermal imager? Because I myself can not use it normally after the developers decided to "update" it.
