I agree. A situation like this is similair to how shotguns work in most shooter games, in real life they do tons of damage from long distance but in game it only seems to be effective in short range.

Set yourself as the Apache gunner in eden editor, then give the pilot a search and destroy waypoint over the general area of the enemies. A little late but I hope that helps
It appears that the AI is pretty stupid in this game. Just about every video I've watched where it was AI rather than human players, the stupid things always run towards the target. A tank or vehicle gets blown up and they all run right towards it as if lightning never strikes in the same place twice !
You can download it on steam, then you will have to install mods to get this helicopter. The mods are free though (most of them). You can find the mods with a quick google search.
Obviously I don’t know the details of this encounter. However, I have a problem with taking out human lives as if it was some video game. God knows what the caliber of the ammunition was but it looks to me that these people were being ripped apart. Considering that the attack was from the air, the enemy was defenseless. Why weren’t they given the option to surrender?
At first I thought this was real and was feeling sorry for the bad guys. Then I noticed that the "bad guys" when fired upon just stayed in the open and assumed the crouching position. In real life they would have retreated to some form of shelter of slit trench.

The game was made in 2013 so the AI was pretty bad, but they are making Arma 4, it will probably look a lot more realistic.

It’s an autocannon not a machine gun, and 30mm can easily penetrate through weaker areas on tanks- such as the turret.
