To be honest, cranking up heat isn't the problem. It's literally just choosing the time-limit (or limited purple budget) ones that are game-changingly brutal, everything else isn't that big a deal.
NL, increase the heat on the boss difficulty one. It's the best way to make the early levels more difficult without making the last floor + hades way too hard.
Extreme measures is what it's called
This. Relearning the Fury fight makes things a lot more exciting. At the very least though, try not to pick heat modifiers that aren't guaranteed to directly compound each other. Giving enemies a 1-hit shield, spawning more of them, and then restricting your time is just asking for trouble XD
If you want to do timed runs, try ramping up enemy and trap damage, and perhaps cutting your options or healing item effects.
@@Avoncarstien I didn't even think about that. He gave the enemies huge advantages with survivability and even the chaos gate beefed them up then proceeded to do a timed run. Classic egg

Time trial, plus many boosts to enemy numbers is possibly the most tactically unsound move I have seen you make in this game.
Time limit is probably the toughest heat option IMO, it makes you rush and makes mistakes you wouldn't normally do, I can complete heat 10 atm but I don't touch that time limit
i think level 1 just means your run needs to take less than 36 minutes overall? that's not bad at all with default, maybe with a bunch of extra heat slowing you down it could be
@@Drew88317 it means you have 9 minutes per floor. While the first two are more than doable in 9 min, the last two are another story entirely. Plus the extra stress from the time limit pushing you to make mistakes. It's to play with the other option and have all the time you want IMO
@@julio77777 my average runs are 27 minutes and get faster as they go. We must build/play very differently
I finished a 9 min heat run at 24 min. Basically build for armor(elysium) and aoe/poseidon(styx). Had a poseidon cast and styx was a breeze. Elysium definitely was the closest call.
@@ThePeaOfSea I always go for the doom deflect duo build if the weapon allows it (gun, bow, and sword kinda stink with it)
1:Adds time constraint heat perk
2: Always chooses more enemies to fight
3: Enemies can't be opened up on with special due to damage shield perk.
4: Picks the weak gun form for all of the above considered.
NL PLS. You constructed your run to fail by the choices from the start. Just add more boss choices next time.

Despite it being shorter it was far more enjoyable that there was actual difficulty that forced NL to try. Keep up the heat i say.

The game recommends a weapon to run with each time. You don't have to use them but you get more influence and for the purpose of the video don't have to make up your mind each time.
I honestly thought you would beat the hydra. It was short but very intresting and fun to watch. It was a nice way to switch it up a little. Thank you NL

I bought the game because of you a couple days ago and Ive realized that Aphrodite is sooo good. Aphrodite/Artemis work so well together imo.

Hey Ryan (Extreme Measures) is a fun but relatively easy way to increase your heat gauge.
5 heat is definitely doable, just don't take the 9 minute penalty.
The infernal gates are not that bad if you don't pick the hardest Heat requirements, since they only go up to 15 as far as I've seen. It should also be noted that the rewards you get from them are often *very* good, as an example a Centaur Heart from one gives you instant 50 max hp

I watched a 35 or 38 heat run the otherday. Shit's got a timer and everything. Looks mad.
The hubris of timer + more enemies lol. Also NL, you should remember ur boons. The deflect attack might have help more if you proactively deflect rather than dodge then back in then attack
Good of you to try out the heat tho. Experiment more with them and the weapons. Based on my watching other streamers, timer pact requires really high dps so you gotta be good at quickly clearing rooms, not just at damaging/staying alive
NL found the sandwiches in the Hydra fight!
if you are going for the time limit runs you usually want to get stuff that makes the run harder (less hp ,enemy damage,trap damage,etc.) but not longer (more enemy hp,more enemies,enemies resist damage,etc.)
also time limit makes it really hard to take advantage of infernal gates

Ngl the deadline requirement is probably the only one I'm not gonna be able to ever do. Currently only finding myself majorly tripped up by the Extreme Measures Hydra arena (and previously the Budget Cuts, although it becomes a little ineffective once you max all the Mirror skills)

i have 100+ runs and the speedrun is one of the heat options i would only pick for a max heat run, pick some of the ones from the top or the ones that improves bosses and mid bosses

For God's Sake NL, buy the third Death's Defiance! They give you 3 for a reason! Also, don't play on higher heat levels until you've cleared the lower ones with every weapon, you're missing rewards. You can always go back and get them later but... why?
Time for N E W S T I C K S? I've seen the controller mess up a lot in for a as well
Me being stupid, I thought the Speed Heat meant you had to get to and kill Hades in 9 minutes IGT which is near WR speed (I believe its 8:38 IGT, 15:24 RTA which was done with a glitch to skip part of the Hydra fight). Still, 9 minutes an act can add some heat especially for those that like taking their time outside of selecting upgrades.

NL just wait until you unlock the alternate Hydra arena oh my. Why do you use the controller though? it plays so smooth with MKB
Out of curiosity is the alternate hydra arena when you crank the one pact rank up to make the 2nd boss harder, or is it more like Meg where after so many plays you get extra challenge?
@@WizardofWestmarch its when you crank the pact up on the boss one. i cant remember if it needs to go up 1 or 2 ranks.

I mean the game itself recommends controller and, while I can't speak for NL, in my honest opinion controller is a lot simpler for me to move and button mash but also I originally came from consoles and I still use controller in games whenever possible because I find M+KB hard to master.

The trinkets you got from gifting to the gods basically give you your god of choice at the start of a run, use that to start building what you want/need
Hey NL if you wanna have a greater challenge why not try and turn off the auto aim?
I feel like the heat gate seems somewhat useless? what's the point of getting it over normal boon, is it going to have better effects or smth?
it seems way harder to complete the challenge for no benefit, unlike with chaos, where you have a few rooms that are harder, but eventually you can get a really good upgrade
I suppose theoretically it's more there just as an alternative to a subpar boon. Like in a late game high heat run you might want to choose the harder infernal room if it has something like Max health over Darkness or Keys, but you're right in that it seems very situational and more just a small consolation for dealing with the high difficulty of heat runs rather than something you aim for intentionally.

Boons: Rare and Epic chances greatly increased

I mean...how else do 1 hour videos parse to less than 30 minutes unless he chooses some insane option that puts a clock on the game that kills you if you don't beat it?

I'm on a 7 win streak in hades, for what i have experienced increasing enemy speed and buffing the bosses is the way to go as far as early heat goes, i'm still Just at 3 heat with every wepon
