      ok, yes it cannot be argued that there are only 2 physical genders, but people feel like they don't belong, and are you going to try to force them to identify as something that makes them uncomfortable in their own body?

      That's right! Me, I identify as a seahorse. Being delusional is much more comfortable! Now to go get gill implants because somehow something got mixed up in the womb and I forgot to be born with them. Yeah...

      I had a teacher who said it dated back to some guy named Jesus 2000 years ago.
      Specifically, it was that his arms were up on the cross but the peace symbol had arms down calling for arms down as "peace & love."

    I always thought that the "on/off" symbol represented a closed circuit versus an open circuit. A closed circuit allows continuous flow of electrons and thus a straight line. An open circuit represents a break in the flow of electrons and thus a bubble in the flow rather than a continuous line and thus the circle. I learned this a while back, but I don't think that it has anything to do with binary code. Just electricity and shorthand symbolism of closed vs. open circuits.

    Fail alert!
    Ummm... the letters of ICTHYS:
    1. As shown in this video, the first letters of the Greek statement, "Jesus Christ, Son Of God, Saviour," are ICTHYS
    2. The word Icthys in ancient Greek is the word for... guess what...fish.
    Now which is more plausible, the word fish inspired a simple line drawing of a fish, or:
    1. the people making the symbol, who wanted nothing to do with paganism, look in the pagan world to find a suitable symbol to represent their ideas.
    2. The pagain symbol of two interlocked circles looking nothing like the ICTHYS that history records, were altered by erasing most of the interlocking circles and finding a line drawing of a fish.
    3. They turned the non-erased lines of the interlocking symbols sideways, and said, "Hey, look at that! It looks like a fish! And...and the letters ICTHYS actually spell the word fish... what a coincidence!!!!"
    Remember, the people of ancient Rome were very familiar with ancient Greek also.
    I know... shut up and drink the Koolaid
    .

      Wot? It's ΙΧΘΥΣ. There is a single letter in greek to represent the sound th (Θ), and also a single letter to represent the sound ch or h (Χ).

    • @jazzx251
      @jazzx251 7 лет назад +10

      You're the fail.
      Yes - Icthys does mean "fish".
      But it was used as a codeword - the letters are an anacronym that means what it says in the video.
      It's like if my personal symbol is a rat.
      But the code is RAT - Revolution Against Trump
      Other people who wore the rat symbol would be on my side, and nobody else would be any-the-wiser.

      Actually many things in Christianity have callings to paganism. Many scholars say this is why the religion spread to fast. Easter bunnies/eggs were a common pagan symbol for spring rebirth, Christianity then had their own holiday about the rebirth of Jesus (also in the spring), using the same symbolism. Another example is that Christmas is around the solstice when many other pagan religions have holidays, meanwhile archaeological evidence has been found to show that the census (which was why Joseph, Jesus' father, was in Bethlehem) occurred late spring/early summer, and not mid winter.

    • @genesisdawn6672
      @genesisdawn6672 7 лет назад +6

      The "Jesus fish" symbol is literally a vagina and comes from Ishtar, the fertility goddess from ancient middle east. She also is where we get our word Easter. Other Easter traditions come from the Germanic goddess Oester, from whom we get the bunnies and the eggs. More fertility stuff. I think there is a link between the two goddesses somewhere.

    • @misfit4373
      @misfit4373 7 лет назад +11

      the "jesus fish" was actually no fish but a secret sign back in the time when rome was still active in the middle east, it was used by christians as sign to identify each other as christian since it was dangerous to be a christ back then. if you were a christ and saw the sign on someones door or were talking to him and doing the first bow and he completed the "fish" with the other bow then you knew he was not a "spy" who would betray you but a christ you could trust =)

    I read once that the power symbol represents the open and closed electrical circuit. The circle represents a closed circuit and means "on" while the line represents an open/incomplete/interrupted circuit and means "off." That's also why with switches that have both an on and off state, as opposed to buttons which do both, you'll see the symbol separated into a circle to represent the on state and a line to represent the off state of the switch. In fact, it's because of buttons that serve both functions that the two separate symbols were combined in the first place, creating the now common "power" symbol which represents both states.

    a aaaaaa
    Edit: I know what it means , so yeah. I wrote an entire 10 paragraph essay on the history of it. I know all about how it was used by Hindus, Pagans, even back to the Mayans I think. So yes I know it wasn't originally a Nazi symbol. I did serious research on it, I even found companies in America named "Swastika Newspaper" or "Swastika Coffee" which were completely obliterated after the Nazis came and they were accused of being anti-semitic or racist or just Nazis. The media took the swastika and used it as a symbol of hate. People visiting many ancient synagogues or temples will here and there see swastikas. I know people, I know
    I've also visited some ancient 6,000 year old city and found a swastika mixed in the ruins on a brick of a fallen house. It goes WAY back. I want people online, the media, or any moron to stop saying "oh it's racist". I am so sick of their shit. If you guys have questions, I'll answer them. I just want him to include it in one of his videos, oh wait he did. °0°

      Only the nazi use of that symbol is bad. That symbol has been used by many different organisations and predates the nazis by hundreds\thousands of years. Sadly it is the nazi use of it that is most famous and when people see the symbol they only think of one thing.

      ☢ this is the radioactive symbol
      ☣ this is the bio-hazard symbol
      I don't know anything about the history of the former
      The latter has no other historical significance when it comes to its appearance. the creators only chose form a set of NEWly created symbols, picking the one that they consider the most eye-catchy or 'alarming' in appearance (although ☣ looks like an unusual arachnid or ☣ tentacles)

    Wrong about the on/off computer switch. Originally, on/off switches werent buttons, they were toggles. These still exist on computer power supplies in the back. The circle "O" means open which signifies that the power is disconnected from the device. The line "|" means closed which signifies that power is connected to the device. Since we changed from a toggle to a button, the button served the same purpose for both tasks, thus the O and | were mixed to make the symbol you talked about.

    Christians chose the Ichthus during Roman times in part because they were being persecuted. It was used to help tell if someone else was also Christian so they could be told about secret gatherings and such. One person would draw one of the curves, and if the other person finished the symbol, they were Christian and safe to talk to.

    In the 1950s, there was a television show entitled, "Ben Casey"starring Vincent Edwards. The show started out with basic metaphysical symbols: Man, Woman, Birth, Death, Infinity narrated by Sam Jaffee (the scientist the alien seeks out in "The Day the Earth Stood Still", also from the 1950s). Hundreds of thousands of people saw those symbols opening the show every single week. the peace sign is much older then the ninetys. its actually an arcane symbol for "total obliteration of mankind" but was adopted for the nuclear disarmament in the fifties, then obviously adopted again in the american hippie movement.

    The "peace" sign is actually an upside down cross with the arms broken, which is actually a satanic symbol of the antichrist. When people see the "peace" sign, they immediately think it represents peace.
    *Jesus is truth! He lives! He is almighty God, and the Prince of peace.*
    "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, *The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."*

    "It is an ancient and powerful symbol of Antichrist. During the dark ages it was used in Druid Witchcraft and by Satanists of all sorts during the initiation of a new member to their order. They would draw the magic circle and give the initiate a cross. The initiate would then lift the cross and turn it upside down. He would then renounce Christianity in all three dimensions (sic) of time (past, present and future) and break the horizontal pieces downward forming the design of the 'Raven's Foot.' This ugly symbol is nothing short of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. For one to wear or display this symbol is to announce either knowingly or unknowingly that you have rejected Christ. Remember, symbolism is a picture language, and a picture is worth a thousand words.''

    What about the sign for AIDS? I am told Victoria a Philippina Nurse wore a piece of black ribbon on her uniform as a sign of mourning for her grandfather. A mother visiting her son, an AIDS patient observed the twisted pinned ribbon , inquired, and Victoria explained what & why she meant by the twisted ribbon. When the AIDS patient passed on, the mother requested Victoria's permission to use the sign as a symbol to - create awareness / inform I celebrate my son who died of AIDS. I also remember Victoria has some proof .... Well the rest is History - or Herstory as it goes!

    You did not go in to depth about the digital on off button and why it is the way it is, as is why they are combined as they are. Switches used to have an on mode '1' and an off mode '0',
    while the symbol itself signifies that it is not meant to remove power from the device, it is meant to put the system into a sleep or hibernation kind of situation where it still receives power. Basically, off but still on, which is why the 1 is breaking the 0, since the button is not meant to remove the 1 entirely.
    the true symbol for an on off can usually be found on phones, which have a zero around a one, signifying it can enter both states fully.

    It was my understanding that Alister Crowley came up with the peace sign to combat the power of the German swazfitigua that was after Winston Churchill went to him. He then asked demons for a stronger symbol and the two finger peace sign was born. So do your homework most people don't realize the power of symbols that plaster the world around us locking out minds in this 3rd physical dimension.

    The two vertical lines are "pause". This even goes back years to tape recorders and CD players. THEN, in these past years it's used as "play". And the arrow facing to the right was meant for "fast forward". Now it's used as pause? So weird. Somewhere it's been twisted and now the norm of pause and play are completely wrong.

    The ampersand (&) gets its name from corrupting the phrase "and per se and," which loosely breaks down to "and intrinsically the word and." The symbol is a ligature of the letters e and t (it's a process to get there, but I'm not making it up), "et" being the Latin word for "and."

  • @macgot

    Thanks, but I doubt the origin of the ON/OFF symbol is the binary language. It is more a combination of the ON( I ) and the OFF ( O ) signs that symbolize the closed and open electric circuit respectively, which is the essence of on and off in physics and its application occured before the binary language came into dominance in electronics and has a more universal meaning.
