We finish welding in all of the patch panels and we bring out the English wheel to make a repair panel for the door. After we get the dent puller to pop out some old damage, and to finish off the video we spray the car in an epoxy primer to get it ready for body work.
I feel like anytime someone restores one of these Datsuns they earn their place in heaven Lol.
Aww 🙏 shouldnt be long until the final video
I like your use of safety squints while welding
Some skills you guys have.
4minutes, really top flight skills with the English wheel. Not seen too many do that shape. Kudos.
Wow. Very impressed. I’m without a doubt a fan of the way you and your team work. If a goal of these videos is to sell your services, I’ll say this. If I encounter hidden rust like this on my Z I know where I’m bringing it. Earned a subscriber.
Thanks, much appreciated
Hey guys, love the channel. The amount of rust you guys are able to fix is amazing. You do the world a great service saving all these Subis (and the datto).
Just one thing I wanted to say, you know what you are doing but I got a bit concerned by the heaters in your booth while you are spraying. I know it's cold as hell there but I'd switch them off when you are spraying. It's a bit of a explosion risk... I even used to turn the halogens off in my old garage booth setup because they were hot enough to ignite vaporised gas.
Any way. If I can maybe prevent harm to you then I'm happy. Just something to be careful of... Love your work
Nice work, Rob! It's coming along nicely! And dang, I even saw some safety glasses and ear plugs! Haha I will have to come out and see this car once its done 🤘🔥
Well everyone keep complaining about my lack of safety lmfao.
Nice work! Can’t wait for the next subie transformation.
Nice work as usual! I wish you were in California...
Very nice job. Looking forward to following progress on this one.
Very very Impressive working Brother.
Great music, awesome skills.
Amazing work.
Great job guys 👏
Enjoying the project, appreciate the vids. One request, maybe move the camera around more and give us some close up shots like when you were on the English wheel. It be nice to really see what's going on.
Really looks like the 73 I restored.
amazing!
such a good job
👏👏👏👏
Great work. I've done all this on two Z cars. So I know
Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now 🙏
I think thats been nice...🙏🏻😁
I think we have similar projects going on at the same time!
This was such a mission, hope yours goes well buddy!!
@@TheSubieSanctuary Thank You! It's nice to connect with someone doing the same work. Grind On!
Hey brother I am also building a Z in Ontario! I am just outside Hamilton would love to meet up when you are done the build - i am subbed!
Nice! Its sweet when locals end up finding us. We are in orangeville, not far at all.
Awesome work. Fun to warch.....but had to push the mute......horrible music 😂
Thanks and fair enough 😂
Beauty work! Nice White Rose sign, that takes me back a while.
What color is it gonna be?? Lime green would be beautiful.
Good eye on the white rose sign! Been my dads since before I was born 😂 the colour will be a surprise. Its been lime green before. Well its been about 5 different colours before. This last colour will be unlike anything previously
You have a long ways to go on learning metal work keep at it on know in 5 more years you will most likely not like the repairs you did here…
Even since this car I have learned a lot, using better products and process along with turning away cars that are too far gone to be worth it. However I did do this very cheap @25/hr, more so for the experience
Hi, I just found your channel and I enjoyed it a lot. I wanted to know were you are located? You mentioned its an Ontario car so Iam hoping you are from Ontario. I own a 74 Datsun 260Z and Iam looking for someone to do the metal and body work.
Glad you found us and enjoyed the video! We are in Primrose
You guys are the real deal!! When someone is using a Metal Brake & English Wheel to fabricate a panel, this is ART!!
Линкольном варит, крутой))
I wish Nissan would remake this chassis, and sell you just the chassis painted and with all the glass.
If your replacing that much sheet metal on the car do you and the customer a favor BUY a pro spot welder!
what this guy is doing is called bodywork this talent is long gone in this country. Show me a car made in this country in the last forty years that is not a piece of crap.
Love this! Can you tell me about how many hours of work went into body?
It is now complete and re assembled. Over all it was about 700 hours, buying more new panels like door skins, cowl would have cut time down significantly. But this was what we had to work with.
@@TheSubieSanctuary I binged a bunch of your videos today and am totally pumped to start on mine. I'm looking for one on how to build the rotisserie : )
Thanks for the great work!
@@DLANM57 that’s awesome, it is exciting to prep to start! Ive seen people build rotisserie’s out of wood even on the cheap
Cuál es el vídeo donde ya está terminado?
ruclips.net/video/CDcYn3Layq0/видео.htmlsi=M-IevgLZ12UQsKth
Pro spot would have made that job easier
Where do you get your quarter panels? Did you buy repair panels or cut them off another car?
Zcardepot.com
so how do you not see spots after tacking the panel in with no welding goggles on
lol I close my eyes when I pull the trigger on the welder. I dont stare at the weld haha
Hey guys I’m just about ready to paint my gc8 here and I’m unsure if I have to spray the whole car in a sealer to adhere the paint. The car was originally a royal silver and It’s fully primed right now and Im doing a midnight cherry with copper flake in it. I was wondering if you guys would recommend spraying the whole car in sealer first?
We have sprayed base over just the primer. But if your second guessing at all, sealer primer is cheap. We use sealer primer when a car has come for just paint and maybe already has primer patches
@@TheSubieSanctuary awesome thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. I don’t think I’m going to use any primer sealer since the bare metal under it was etch primed and also sprayed with filler primer, I’m just going to block the whole car with 320 then re prime it then paint it.
@@Amethyst_Gc8 solid plan, i agree. I find once you got it all blocked. And if primer still uniform then adding another layer being the sealer primer just adds more texture to the base and more orange peel to the finish
Great metal work. I have 2 questions for you or viewers. 1st. I have a 2012 base impreza sedan with 2.0 na with a 5 speed. 335,000km and I have 02 code caused by oil blow by. I want to change motor with a low mileage one. I can find lots of low mileage motors that started life with an auto. Is it a start swap or is there any crank bushings or any sensors I will need to swap off my motor?
2nd. My rockers are just starting to soften in a couple spots on the very bottom. Besides the $250 oem ones do you know of another vehicle that has a close rocker that I can get a aftermarket "crosscanada" type rocker to make my patches?
Any help greatly appreciated
Lol ok 3rd I tow a 16ft aluminum boat and use some pretty gnarly boat ramps. Any suggestions on a good clutch that would take more abuse?
Southern ontario viewer
Hey Shawn! The engine from auto impreza will be a straight swap.
Best option for rockers is either make the sections you need to replace. Ive had to do this on 08+ impreza. Im unaware of similar rockers aside from the oem.
Lastly, exedy stage 1 clutch would be certainly up to the job of tugging the boat up the ramp.
Thanks for watching! 🇨🇦
@@TheSubieSanctuary Thank you for your response! You have no idea how much I appreciate the information. I really love the car even though its just a base sedan. It does everything I need and on a fixed income I really like the gas mileage. My best mileage was before oil ring blow by. 900km to a tank. Its down now to 660km. At this price it almost pays to put a new motor in. At 200,000km a friend put in a new excedy but I think it was an oem rated. Throw out bearing was making noise.
Once again thanks for the reply. Love your videos. Makes me want to work on my car before rust beaks thru. Its been awhile since I have dusted off the mig lol
@@fixinanddoinstuff2134 I absolutely adore my NA legacy wagon for same reason. Its practical, low maintenance and low ownership cost.
