Ground Up Ek Civic Build In 10 Minutes
I have a few questions, I am putting a ej20y into a 13 wrx. So I've watched your video. By doing the exhaust cam tooth change, then a tune isn't necessary? if I do a tune, then leave the timing alone and leave it untouched? If you had a choice of keeping the ej20y twin scroll turbo or the 2.5 turbo, which would you use? I can get the flange and modify my downpipe to fit the ej20y. trying to figure out the timing/tuning/turbo and which way would be best.
@@courtneymorris-i9k doing the exh cam timing change is ideal overall. Significant performance difference vs not adjusting the exhaust timing. In the end, it is ideal to get a tune no matter what. If your ej20y ends up with a VF series twinscroll. Then id totally use it, they are really fun and insanely responsive. Instant boost with the twinscroll. I have the oem twinscroll on one of my personal cars.
Great tip. Do they sell those stainless bits separately?
@@JuuS0 they do not sell them separately. There are replacement rubber/steel bushings available through “hardrace” though. I used them before on a project
I am working on my 2000 plymouth Neon, I want to add a small turbo to it, any thoughts??
@@dariotriana5930 easiest route has seemed to be putting the srt motor in. Easier to manage then trying to turbo the original
Can't find em the neon is Unfortunately disappearing. Fun little cars to have tho.
This is the only one ive seen in the last decade around here. They are a very fun little car for sure
I might get my hands on on a 98 Neon R/T
Appreciate the review, just bought one to use as a hobbyist. Do you think this thing can handle rusty control arm bolts?
@@tehgzizlauw1787 it has been a powerhouse. So far there has been nothing it hasnt been able to break free. I haven’t had the opportunity to try it on rear arm bolts yet though myself
What exactly is your mix for the oil spray and the sprayer/straw you’re using? I’d like to do something similar to my GC that’s also very rust free
@@mooseinabox6321 for the undersides normally i like to use something sticky. Like fluid film, waxoyl or corrosion free. All great products. For inside panels, I like to use products that are runny like krown or rust check. Running in the panels makes sure you get oil everywhere that moisture would flow. Im using a rust proofing gun, it comes with various attachments to give you the ability to get inside panels and frame rails. Cheap tool, like $70-$90 Well worth it though.
Hiroshima? Don’t be so crass brother.
Cool old campers
very underrated video amazing
amazing are those genuine pink subaru badges ?
@@RSADYNAMICS yes! The real deal 🙌

whenever I get overwhelmed about rocker rust I come and watch this video
Oh man, my 03 wagon sounds just like this - and I thought I was toast but I'm going to look into this!!!
Did you make the wheel wells? Or did you purchase them from somewhere that you could share with us?
@@CKFromTheNorth they are trailer fenders from harbour freight/ princess auto
@TheSubieSanctuary Perfect thank you. My self and another guy with a RUclips channel are rebuilding our 98 2.5 R.S (his in the US) and my 99 2.5RS (mine in Canada) and we're both at the repair stage for the rear quarter. Thank you for sharing both the repair process and where you got your parts. If only I could get my hands a CF wide body kit like that 😩. Can't wait to see your car completed!
@TheSubieSanctuary follow up question. You didn't happen to hang on to those sections of the rear quarter panel that you cut out by chance. They looked clean and i could definitely use them to patch mine haha 😊
@ they were actually very bad, they had metal welded on top of the original quarter and all sorts of bubbling bondo. Believe me, i would have saved them if they were decent. The bondo was probably 1/4” thick
@@TheSubieSanctuary haha oh damn. Worth asking haha. Also thanks for the info on the trailer fenders. Just picked them up today. I'm in the process of fixing the exact same area in the back above the wheel. I'll be watching the rest of the build(s) for more repair ideas 👍 Keep the great content coming!
the lack of mudflaps is disturbing
Wont kick much mud without a motor
The bug eye!!
Had a Brz a few weeks ago come into work, then like a week later, a 15 Wrx came in, same issue lol. I called it as soon as I got thre work invoice like a boss lol. Good tips bro!
call it a wear item not a failure point ;) #copium lmao
💯 , and they so cheap. Really just replace it any time you see it
Okay as a newbie to this line of work, where on earth do you get/order these cuts of old subarus?
No worries buddy, I purchased the frame rail from subaru dealership. Everything else I had made with the exception of the rear exhaust hanger. That I cut from another car. Website such as subiesavers.com does sell rocker panels and quarter panels patches
Should do one on the sleeve kit
@@kw2519 good idea! Ive only had to use them twice? in the last couple hundred clutchs. But that is definitely one of those parts that you dont know you need until its too late and then requires the special TB and sleeve. Next time I encounter, definitely would be worth showing
@ I had to do one for the first time recently. There seems to be two styles, one with a set screw and one that’s a “press” fit. Both are the same size special TB. I did it to my 98 Legacy with a ej22ez and it seems to be holding up well so far.
@kw2519 no way, ive only experienced the set screw style. Really tripped me out the first time i pulled a motor to find one in there
@ ya I’m not convinced the set screw is the best option. I’ve heard of them coming loose. But the press on sleeve can too. I found I had to chip away a small bit of the flanged end at the back because it wanted to interfere with my clutch fork
That's wild
I love those neons! 😁
you guys are top notch 🤌🏻🤌🏻
oh damn this is tooooooo clean 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Awesome video! Curious how one gets the 02c valspar. Just any local automotive paint shop or can I buy this direct?!
@@Eisrael26 any paint/body supply shop should be able to get it!

Good dad right here checking on his son the whole way through the run!
damn that's TMP, I didn't know you were in Ontario!
@@BLIVEit yes sir! Im in Orangeville!
How much did this cost? For everything
@@danielruiz9141 it was $40k in parts, material, powder coating engine build and $45k in labour. $85k Canadian at the time. Would probably cost more now with inflation, I began this 8 years ago
😂😂😂
What a bell end.✊🏼💦

You don't have to uninstall the coilovers to adjust the height of it?
@@toanmach7273 you can adjust them installed no problem
my makita battery works like a charm with it too
No way! Its been a month now with this gun. My Milwaukee is now covered in dust 🤫 this thing work’s awesome
The wires that go from engine to ecu, where on the ecu plugs do they go and which pins get rearranged
Thats a lot to type out and its best with pictures to make sure you get correct wires. The info is online, however for a plug and play approach the iwire kit is simple to install
about to do the ej207 swap in my 2002 wrx tired of the wrx curse😢
@@andrewharris3785 207 is incredibly resilient. But they are getting old too now. If i had to chose any ej to bet on, it would be the 207!
Could sue him for damages to your driveway. Bet he wouldn’t do some petty shit like that again

Great work. It looks even better.
It was clean when it came in and the work done eXcellent!
Thanks for the infomative video. Im in the middle of doing this exact swap on a 2006. I got stalled when I got the USDM motor out and noticed that the flex plates are different. More lightning holes, different bolts and the flex plate to t/c mounting surface is .040” closer to trans. That would put the t/c that much deeper into the transmission. Have you had any problems with that? I was thinking about swapping over the USDM flex plate if that don’t creat any issues. Thanks for any feedback!
@@WendellSnyder highly recommend swapping your usdm flex plate on! Then youll be 100% rather then find out the hard way.
Can you please share the paint code,
