    I recently tried the iPhone after years on android , i think the apps are smoother & better optimised but...... the frustration of not being able to do simple customisation killed me . I bought a pixel 6a & could not be happier . Google assistant kills siri , i have a pixelbook go & they work seamlessly with each other . Apple is undoubtedly a very very good system but Google is closing the gap IMHO . The privacy debate is a false narrative , if anyone thinks Apple is some sort of bastion of privacy well i can`t help you 😁. The recent pixel lineup is impressive , i hate face ID & most of the iPhones do not give you a choice in this area. I tried the walled garden & i liked it but not enough to keep me as a customer . The price is also a big factor & the inevitable feeling that all things Apple is taking over, earbuds , laptop etc , i like choice & some semblance of freedom. These are tools we use to do a job & for me i got the feeling i was not in charge of my own device . It comes down to what you are happy with & android is my choice .

I've had a recent experience with an iphone 13 pro and iOS 16 was quite a frustrating adventure. From bugs, glitches, quirks, poor notification management, very limited keyboard functionality, inconsistent navigation gestures, i ran into more issues than on any android device I've used. I would like to offer a different perspective. This Android vs. Apple argument is outdated and influencers pushing this really don't understand what they are talking about. This narrative has caused a pointless out of hand dispute between the consumers. The negativity has served the content creators well. Let me explain.
    The Android platform is just a component like a Samsung display. Samsung, Apple & Google use Samsung displays. But each company alters that component to their needs to give users their take on a smartphone experience. The Android component is used in more than smartphones, tablets and Chromebooks. It is used in a vast amount of devices across the global: scales, asset tracking, POS, medical devices, etc. It is because of this array of uses that it makes Android more complex for developers to support updates and support updates long term.
    Apple offers variants of iOS based on iPhone and iPad. But they only have to worry about themselves. Nobody's knocking Apple for the lack of multitasking on iPhone that is available on iPad. Apple did a great job marketing their platform. They established a customer knowledge base that has been passed down by the consumers. They also are the only builder and user of the iOS platform. This doesn't make their platform better. It was just smart that it makes it simple for developers to make apps versus the hundreds of Android manufacturers out there.
    Android apps are tweaked by the manufacturers. Like Samsung has done with many apps made for the Z Fold and social media apps. For the Pixel line, Google Phone app offers Google's exclusive A.I. experience with call screening, call hold and providing a visual menu experience when calling into a company IVR.
    Generalizing the Android platform allowed those of us who sold iPhones an opportunity to poke weakness at low caliber Android devices and their manufacturers failure to support them. Also add that carriers wanted the ability to brand the devices with company launcher and monetize bloatware. We knew that direct attacks towards the top Android flagships would be difficult or impossible to overcome. The branding and generalizing of Android worked in Apple's favor. Most of the weaknesses mentioned are not reflective of the Android experience with a Samsung flagship or Google Pixel device.
    Since Google started off with Android as an open source platform with no interest in making smartphones, it was up to all of the other manufacturers to promote their devices to win the mindshare of the consumers. Other than Samsung and Google, no other "Android" manufacturer markets their devices well. This has created an uphill battle for them create the following that Apple has. The attention for Android is divided between hundred of manufacturers across the globe.
    But hey. Y'all made some great videos that will generate a lot of views and keep the public divided. Attention is the new currency! 😆

    I agree with you on the success of iMessage. Google is failing us with RCS. Now that they are offloading RCS hosting to the wireless carriers, it is a mess!
    RCS isn't working properly for anyone with a 2022 carrier branded Samsung. Since I upgraded to a Zold 4 with T-Mobile, RCS is broken between me and my wife. She is using a S21 Ultra. When she sends a text, it comes encrypted over RCS. When I text her, it defaults over to SMS/MMS. But if I text my buddy on his S22 Ultra, it goes over RCS. Unfortunately if either of us send pics or videos, it defaults back to MMS. This issue is huge on Samsung and carrier forums (AT&T and T-Mobile)!
    Google has no right to shame Apple for not adopting RCS! It is a mess! Hey Google! How about y'all spend some of those millions in shaming ads to move us users back to your Jibe server and fix Google Messages!
    $2,000 for the Fold 4 and a broken messaging experience! 🤨

      @@Manly_face Thanks for the reply, but this was 9 months ago. Since then I have worked directly with Google to address this issue for hundreds of my users.
      The issue is between locked (carrier) and unlocked S21-S22 series. Unlocked devices have RCS hosted with Google Jibe servers and locked devices are hosted by carriers. For a brief moment this was also impacting the Fold series. Since then, S21 series issues have been resolved. T-Mobile and Samsung have been running labs for 5G and RCS hosting. Google recently decided to take back RCS hosting to manage it themselves.
      There are still issues with the S22 series. Connection to RCS server fails intermittently and it reverts back to SMS/MMS messaging a Fold4/5 or an unlocked S21 series. There are various combos that cause RCS fail with that series. The S21, Fold/Flip4 & 5 and S23 series seem to be fine.

    There's a whole array of android apps that keep from going to iPhone.
    Games mainly and emulators. If you really look and try there's many ports of PC games on android. I can play all the original doom games(delta not Bethesda's crappy port) including doom 3 AND all the quake games. Then we have all the higher quality emulators for other consoles, we have knights of the old republic, fucking OBLIVION, (you get the app and port in the files)
    I even play half life on here.
    I just hate that iOS isn't so free for development like that. They tighten up their app library way too much. I like that my android is essentially a small PC with a mobile interface where as iPhone is this amazing, stable and unique operating system that is just locked up tight and lacking.

    iOS and Android are operating systems. And the operating system is just another layer between user and his software that uses users hardware, so more hardware and software variety you have, better operating system is.
    And you know what, all the iOS exclusive software is just some crap that wants you to use your phone as a laptop or whatever reason why they want you to edit videos on the phone somewhere instead of the default gallery. While Android exclusive software is apps like tachiyomi, anixart, Revanced RUclips, and a number of social network alternative clients.
    Then why would I want to use apple? To conserve myself inside their closed ecosystem and become a regular apple slave who pays extra money because of the app stores monopoly, forced to see a notch even in laptop, having no access to the installation of the native software I want on the Mac if it is not from the app store and all this crap about downloading from internet is the load of horse shit - you are installing x86 version software which is translated, while native soft is all in the app store.
    Apple is just an evil corporation that should be destroyed or fully reformed.

I have 0 limitations, I don’t know what you possibly need to do that an iPhone can’t?

What's the point of powerful chips if most of the time, most consumer only scroll through social media and nothing else? If you want to do intensive video editing buy a powerful laptop such as macbook or a similarly priced much powerful pc. If you want great camera shots, don't buy a damn phone. Buy a DSLR camera. If you want security, you don't want iOS or android. Instead, use Linux mobile os which is far more secured. Better yet just build your own kernel and os if you're really that bothered about your privacy that much. I don't care about any of those damn stuff, all I need is a phone that can do phone stuff good enough and not being a pointless waste of money for me.

    In regards to the "whatever reason" that app developers release features on iOS first, it's because Apple will literally pay the developers or threaten to pull their app when features hit Android first or at the same time. For instance why dark mode doesn't exist in snapchat on Android when you used to be able to enable it

    • @YungstarProd
      @YungstarProd Год назад +7

      I think it’s more-so the reason that Android is still fragmented. Different android-based OS’es. And different screen sizes. Since Apple is one company making the hardware and software, developers have an easier time updating their apps. iOS-covers every iPhone and iPad. Android-may take some more time.

    • @Scribz1212
      @Scribz1212 Год назад +3

      @YungstarProd no this is literally something Apple openly does, several developers have admitted to it. Deceleration have literally REMOVED features from their apps and blocked them from functioning even though those features have system wide implementation in Android to comply with Apple's mandates. You also don't know much about development apparently, android is only one OS, yes there are generational updates, but that exists on both sides and not everyone updates their iPhone immediately, I've known plenty of iPhone users that never installed any updates. I've done it plenty of times where I've downloaded an app that hasn't been updated since 2010 and the thing still works perfectly on Android though, flappy bird still runs on Android even though the screen resolutions and dimension from when it came out weren't at all in use at the time and there have been plenty of kernel and api changes. Android is also open sourced with easier tools for developers to use with non-proprietary requirements in the languages they learned to code with. The fragmentation you speak of that still exists today only relates to system firmware because hardware manufacturers want to test the OS on their hardware first, skin it, and add features. None of which affects how the app functions or needs to be coded. Yes there are benefits for smaller developers to pick a single OS and focus on it until they get a larger team, but the features the video and we are talking about are from major developers like spotify and snapchat

    • @suranae
      @suranae Год назад

      Multiple devs update on the app store first/only because the apple walled garden generates more raw revenue per user.
      Mac/iOS users buy more apps outright from the App Store or buy the license keys for no ads later.
      Android's open source nature is biting it in the backside. Especially since Google is not leading the charge & building a plethora of signature apps that compete with apple developed mainstays like Garage Band or iMovie.
      Itunes is a resource hog but it is a great music store.

    • @Scribz1212
      @Scribz1212 Год назад +1

      @Everett Todd here is the flaw with that logic. The research shows that the average global iPhone user spends $100/month in the app store, whereas the average Android user spends $50/month, yes. But, android users outnumber global iPhone users by 3:1. No intelligent developer would actually give a fuck about the per user spending, because they're trying to make money not win over a single user.
      Also, AGAIN, I'm giving examples of developers, like instacart and snapchat, literally removing functionality from their app on Android. Pray tell how that fits into this narrative you've allowed yourself to believe?

    And most of this stuff is superficial unlike Android everything you said was actually a superior feature. Prime example you're talking about older iPhones getting updates yeah they may get iOS updates but they're not getting the same version as the current models. This is the biggest misconception when it comes to iOS it doesn't matter if they're updating an iPhone 6 to current iOS the only thing that matters is how many NEW features that don't get added to that iPhone 6 in that NEW update, which is a lot, you'll do better selling your old iPhone 6 and getting a new iPhone. Why would you want to get an update where it's only a quarter of the update. Another prime example the dark skies app 90% of Android phones come with a weather app dark skies was not downloaded on Android phones which is why they chose to pulled support for Androids. iPhones need weather apps because Apple's weather app is garbage you see I don't care about third party support when my phone does all those features that iPhone users are downloading from other apps. iOS isn't polished it just doesn't do anything iPhones need third-party support to have the same experience that an Android phone has out of the box, Androids are superior. The same with battery life yeah iPhones have better battery life but that's because their phones aren't multitasking their phones can't multitask so the system isn't hit as hard as Android phones and yet Android is still optimized to holy hell because they're still within earshot of an iPhone optimization. Android is truly cutting edge. Android phone's were created for work and business you know the phones that are able to do everything and anything 😁!

    I also challenge the OLD chip speed argument. I get it. The benchmark results have been outstanding. But how do we know if the Bionic chip would perform the same if it were put into another device? Like when Samsung got slapped on the wrist for optimizing performance when gaming. It performed well and initially no one knew how. It just did. Then it was arbitrarily decided that they device needed to perform a certain way to make it more fair. Too who?
    Apple makes the hardware and the software. They aren't giving the Geekbench folks their source code and all their secrets optimization. Also, iOS is designed to operate in a single nature. The user facing app gets most of the device's resources. Other than calling, texting and a few media apps, iOS doesn't multitask. So we have use common sense that the battery will be better.
    Android manufacturers can't secretly optimize their devices until they develop their own chipsets and create their own "walled garden". Samsung and Google are the only two companies with the money and resources to do that. What Qualcomm is doing now with this is promising. But until then, the benchmark results will still be skewed in Apple's favor. Benchmark results don't translate to real world performance and user experience.
    This chipset thing is another dead horse the tech influencers beat over and over again. But it is our fault. We worked on the Apple consumers for years to build these defense mechanisms to address the early insecurities we had about iPhone and iOS. It is called Spin Selling. Look it up!
