  • Hypercars in Le Mans Ultimate can be confusing in the beginning.
I mean, yes, they are hybrids, so they use fuel and a battery, but what on earth is “Virtual Energy”?
And why didn’t my pit crew give me the fuel I requested for the pit stop?
We’re gonna tackle these questions today, so you know exactly how to work the Hypercars, both LMH and LMDh, in Le Mans Ultimate.

1:04 Not all cars from the 2023 season feature a hybrid system as, for the LMH regulation build cars, it's not mandatory. All LMDH reg build cars, like the cadillac, come with a spec hybrid unit that has to be fitted. For '23, there's only 2 cars that are ICE only being the Glickenhaus and Bykolles Vanwall. This can also be seen by the lack of a visible "HY" sticker on the cars. Both of them have been dropped from the WEC grid for 2024 for their own reasons.
Neither of these cars were truly competitive IRL (not sure if that's, partially, to blame on the lack of any hybrid system).
I wonder how that ties with virtual energy strategy wise as well as you'll have to sacrifice pace regardless in order to optimize efficiency. Hybrids can rely on the motor to aid the engine so the driver doesn't have to fuel save (much).
In irrelevant news, do yourself a favor and try the GTX sportscars spec series if you get a chance because i've been having a BLAST with them!

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I haven't tried the Glickenhaus or Vanwall yet, maybe I should've for this video. 🙈

When someone tells me I'm wasting money on wheels and whatnot for 'Just a silly game' I'm sending them this video.

Good precise video but man you ran into the back of a lot of cars 😆

I was trying to get proper footage by doing AI races and didn't set the difficulty very high. Which in hindsight was a mistake, since they were kind of slow in places. 😂

Performance of the car can very much be affected by the e-deployment, more particularly on the cars with the e-motor at the front. Increase the deployment will alter the torque split, meaning how much under or over steer you get in high speed corner. For instance with 200kW the car will be very stable for eau rouge as opposed to 0.
Having said that though, I asked the question on the official forum for confirmation whether the torque split is correctly simulated, it feels like it, but I could not confirm it yet.

You're right, I probably should've been more clear, as I wanted to say that it doesn't alter power output. But great point regardless, I was trying to figure out if changing e-motor deployment would have an effect on handling, but couldn't really tell (which might be due to my bad driving with these cars still). So I left this out for the video.

Virtual energy is one of the dumbest inventions in racing today.
