    We started our Irish vacation last May in Co. Donegal. A friend grew up and lived in Ramelton before she emigrated to Canada, so that was where we made home base for the 1st few days. This video stirred a lot of memories as we visited quite a few of the sights in your video, and it gave us ideas for next time...and there WILL be a next time. We're hooked!
    Probably the best memory of that 1st few days was our stop at Grianan of Aileach. The views and ringfort are magical on their own, but the day we stopped, there was a wee concert happening with Irish fusion band Kíla...just a wild experience! They gained a couple new fans from Canada.
    If you're ever passing through Ramelton, stop for a drink at Purty House, and say g'day to Jesse...he pulls a dandy pint of the black stuff. Sláinte!

    Great video, guys! Donegal is absolutely stunning, but sometimes neglected by tourists as it's considered "off the beaten track". You've really shown off many of its ample treasures; and the pair of you make a beautiful couple, it must be said. Safe travels!

    Hi there :-)
    This video shows exactly what I've been looking for! Will definitely spend a couple of days up there.
    I've questions for travelling Ireland in general as a soon to be solo traveller:
    1) Do you guys have any advice for meeting new (irish) people?
    2) I know, you prefer spending time away from tourists (me too, actually); but well, as a solo traveller, I'm still checking out some guided tours - do you have any experiences / recommendations?
    Wish you all the best!
    Rosamund

    Hi guys! Can I ask, Number 12 - we won´t be allowed on the bus with our dogs. Which of the walking trails is the one you were on? Is it the Lakeside Walk, and I´ll just need to walk both ways, there and back? Thanks in advance, great video, we loved it!

    • @SomethingToRemember
      @SomethingToRemember  7 месяцев назад

      Hi, thank you! We're not sure about the names of the trails, but the main one leads to the castle (4 km), and from there you can walk along the lake to the waterfall, which is another 3 km. Both trails are nice, though the first one is a bit busier. There is also a short hike to the top from the castle, offering a view of the castle and lakes from above (1.5 km from the castle). Wherever you go, it’s beautiful there!

    I think it's a bit subjective to say Malin head takes ages to get to. Coming from Belfast or Dublin airport it would be closer than most of the other locations you have mentioned. It may be off putting to prospective tourists. Very professional informative video though.

    As a community service, I’d just like to suggest that you NOT underestimate the risks on local roads and trails at Slieve League. One of the dumbest things I’ve done as an ordinarily responsible father was to drive one of ours sons along the cliff edge road in a 5 speed, way too large, VW Caravan. My wife was smart enough to yank our youngest out of the van and wait behind. The road was more like a dangerous hiking trail, and when I realized it would be hours of one-way eight foot wide ring road driving to get back to them, I attempted to find a turnaround. In most places I could look straight down at barely visible seagulls a thousand feet below. When I found a spot with with six extra feet against the bank-side cliff wall, I tried the 10 point U Turn. A Mini Cooper came around the bend and when I asked the two fellas for help in flagging clearances they refused (probably French; definitely losers), and their faces were white as ghosts. TMI, but obviously I made it back. The oldest boy was smart enough to say very little about the event to his mother. I still cringe at the recall. Forewarned is forearmed. Wished some knowledgable local was available for advice back then.

      You won’t have any problems if you take the main road to the visitor’s center 😊

    • @michaellucks1642

      @@SomethingToRemember There wasn’t a Visitor’s Center or anything I’d define as a main road when we were there. Nor reliable maps apps for that matter. Going again next May (with our new grandson), and we’ll stick to designated viewing areas. Cheers.
