    Since I have been to Ireland nine times and it’s my favorite subject people seek my advice. The first piece of advice I share … take a map of Ireland, fold it in half, and then pick a half. Do not try to see the entire country in ten days. The second piece of advice … take time to walk on the Irish soil, breathe the Irish air and most important, meet the Irish people.

    My wife and I are planning a trip to Ireland this September. I've watched a bunch of travel tip videos, and this is the best one! Understandable, to the point, valuable, relevant, usable information. No annoying music. No cutesy, staged moments. But after checking out your other videos, I was disappointed to see you didn't do a video on places in Ireland you would suggest visiting. Maybe one is coming in the near future? Fingers crossed!

    In Ireland, if you don't like the weather, just wait 5 mins. It is very changeable, one minute the sun can be splitting the skies, next minute the heavens can open. So yes, bring some rain gear if going walking.
    Normal bacon (or rashers) here is back bacon, it's not ham. If you want American style bacon ask for STREAKY bacon, asking for crispy bacon will mostly work too but you may just get normal back bacon just done crispy.
    The type of fuel your rental car takes will usually be on a label next to filler cap or in the inside of the fuel flap.

    • @andreabernhardt
      @andreabernhardt  Месяц назад +1

      Totally agree! It's crazy how weather can change so much in one day and even in 15 minutes 😀

  • @Patricu

    Good tips here. Just for the record - Irish bacon is bacon it just comes from a back cut. US bacon is usually thin slices of belly bacon. In general Irish people would regard US bacon as overcooked, so don't be surprised at the difference, just enjoy it!

    • @andreabernhardt
      @andreabernhardt  3 месяца назад +2

      You are very welcome! Here are my tips for bus and train travel. Thank you 😀
      Bus and train tips
      - We did a train from Limerick to Dublin in 2007 and it worked great
      - Planning is very important as you can't just get up and go, you are more reliant on a time schedule
      - busses run less times on Sundays
      - you may have to walk from a bus stop a ways to get to your destination
      - what luggage you bring is very important cause you have to transport it on a bus and train and walk more
      - when someone says it's just a short distance to walk, double what you are thinking it would take
      - best part is you don't have to drive if you aren't comfortable with it
      - you can take bus tours of popular places
      - It just takes a little more planning and you may not see everything you would like to
      - it is a great way to visit Ireland for the first time though

    2:00 so let me get this straight -- guests of the hotels in Ireland are locked INSIDE during what the management determines to be appropriate sleeping hours, according to them. Therefore, should there be a need to evacuate for say a bomb, a fire, a flood or a horde of snakes (I know I know - it's Eire, there are none) then there is no way to get out?? Surely you have to be kidding. Right?

    We like our roads actually, they're beautiful. Much nicer than motorways everywhere, that would cause major disruption to our tranquil way of life. We do have big roads, called motorways, you can find these on a map. Electrical outlets in bathrooms where people can come in tired, drunk, drugged or innocent and electrocute themselves. Insurance requirements. Plus safety building regulations. We do call bathrooms bathrooms when there is a bath there. A toilet, when there's a toilet. And nothing if you ask for an empty room. Cars are small because we're logical. Ireland has a high level of car ownership in which most you'll have just a single traveller. No need for big cars unless you're carry others 😮.

    • @andreabernhardt
      @andreabernhardt  Месяц назад

      Thank you for your clarification on these topics. I love the small roads as well, they are beautiful! I love Ireland and everything about the culture. all good tips ,but there are cultural things that need to be mentioned
    ! Never call us irish british or a part of the UK it may seem a small thing but they are historical reasons we are not part of the UK and its not just a quirk of politics
    2 never order a carbomb or black and tan cocktail in ireland especially not the carbomb because people were actually killed by those things in both the republic.
    They are other things but those are just annoyances whereas the things above tourists can't get wrong.

    I would Like to let you know they Northern Ireland, is not a different country. The country you visited is full Ireland. And the it is occupied by the British empire. Irish people take grave exception to the six country’s of our country being called a different country. We have 32 country’s 26 are in the southern part. Very soon we will have 32 counties back. So to be politically correct just call it the north.❤ Thanks for the up load
