Wishing him a much longer life on this earth than he was predicted .

It was great finding this. The guy at the end is amazing. I could listen to him all day. I haven't been to Donegal in a long time, and would love to go back. The last time I was there, I went to Dungloe for 7 days and it rained nearly non stop for 3 out of the 7 days I was there, but I met some nice people who showed me around a few places and had a great time. My paternal grandmother was born in Raphoe as her mother, my great grandmother was from Raphoe and her parents on the male side were tin smiths and lived in Letterkenny and Raphoe. I found out between last year and this year that I have lots of reletives in Donegal, so I would love the chance to go back when I can and see Raphoe and Letterkenny to see the places where my ancestors lived among other places.
Brendan is what’s unforgettable about Donegal. What a great guy, such positivity, and such a better way of looking at our time here. His words really resonated with me as my dad (from Cork) passed away with cancer in 2007 and was very positive about it all as well. I was only on here as I am stopping over in Donegal next year for the first time on my way down to Co. Cork but I’m so glad that I watched the video. Thank you Brendan and thank you guys for posting it.
Watched this for research on accents and dialects and County Donegal did not expect to witness such a beautifully whimsical soul from 10:35 on. I hope that man is living his best life with the time he has left. What an inspiration.
As an Australian, I visited Donegal in July 2017 on my way through Ireland. My family are from Dungloe and Ballybofey. Stopped off for lunch in a pub in Letterkenny and State of Origin (the biggest rugby league series in Australia) happened to be on. Chatted about it with an old fella for a while. Beautiful place and people.
My grandmother was from Cresslough, County Donegal. I even spent time in Letterkenny, nice town. I even cut and stacked turf. Beaches are nice water is ice cold.

A very sweet and endearing video. Did you ever find out if that lovely spiritually minded man still lives? I haven't visited yet, but my old grandad was a Donegal man, Lettermackward. Saint Columba who spread Christianity in Britain and beyond was from Donegal. Donegal was home to Ireland's foremost tribe, the Ui O'Neal, who ruled most of Ireland for nearly 2000 years. I am amazed at the Scottish look -and accent -of many of the Donegal people, having relatives in both places.
Hello Jack. Yes, I still have a pulse and as I remarked to Bethii, above ... " I'm now on D-Day+36 and, with my rather elaborate 'Man Cave' (some call it "a Man Palace") almost complete, I'm gonna plant the spuds today!" And Yes. Columba was "some buck" as they say up here in Donegal.
@@brendanrohan9575 Ah ! Brendan, God bless you! I was touched by your story. And impressed with your lovely Russel quotes about Donegal. You made that video sparkle, and I sent it to friends in London and Morocco, even my Indian friend, a deep mediator, said she loved it. I have never been to Irleand but my maternal grandparents were from Ireland. Grandfather was from Lettermackward, a Cannon, while his mother was a Gallagher, but he died in Greonock Scotland in the 70s. So hearing you sweetly and poetically put Donegal back on the Irish map made me happy. I'll say a wee pray for you,my friend, and send you my love and respect🙏.
Many thanks for your very kind comments, Jack. AE is my hero and if alive today would be my Guru. He saw the good in everyone and was a force for unity, nationwide and internationally but sadly he died of a broken heart when he saw Irishmen kill and brutalise each other in a horrible Civil War and its aftermath. Donegal though, is a very special County and even my father, a proud Kerryman, saw and enjoyed its beautiful scenery and people to such an extent that his and my Mums graves are here.

Hi Jamie! I have seen you many times on the Try channel, and you are great to watch. This video popped up for me to watch and I must say, I am American, not a drop of Irish blood in my veins, but County Donegal is my favorite place of any I have ever visited by far. I spent about 3 weeks there in my early twenties two years in a row, went back again in my later thirties, and want to go back again in my declining years. I love the most remote areas, I seen some of the most beautiful views, the wonderful tiny towns, everything. The people are simply amazing.
100% on the people…. I’m in the UK, with family in Donegal and have spent some time exploring it, the people are like no others, Wonderful, decent human beings… ☘
My Irish family came from Lettermackaward, County Donegal in 1871, to Ellis Island, New York City. So, it's interesting to hear what that exact Irish accent sounds like, and what other Irishmen & Irishwomen think of the county my Irish homeland. From what I'm getting, I'm wanting to go to County Donegal. But, I'm not worried about the people, the food, drink, but I'm afraid of not understanding the people because of the Donegal accent.
Letterkenny isnt the best example, theres plenty of pretty amazing places in donegal. all of inishowen for example where there are plenty of tourists. The best thing about donegal is its ability to be itself, it doesnt change for anybody it will always be binded with strong people who fight for what they want. I'm not originally from donegal but it stole my heart 9 years ago and havent looked back

Bless him you'd wish he'd live for another 50 years he has such a great outlook on life he's so positive but life isn't fair
Have the privilege of knowing Brendan what a gentleman he is and a mind of wonderful knowledge, you will never be bored when Brendan is around
Is he still going strong?
He is surely
@@FA-vs1wq Aw jeez well that's the best thing I've heard today, such an inspirational guy

@@tanisaur3630 Hello Bethii. Yes, I am and so much so that since I'm now on D-Day+36 and, with my rather elaborate 'Man Cave' (some call it "a Man Palace") almost complete, I'm gonna plant the spuds today!
Omg the guy at the end had such a positive outlook on life, I'm actually crying, such an inspiration and just seemed like he was ment to be there.
From the interviews it seems the people are so open and friendly and the scenes are worth seeing. How amazing.
Lovely video and conversation with the last guy interviewed 😊
@@casey00X thank you for the kind comment! Consider subscribing:))
This video came up by 'chance' (I think it's cos I've been watching so much Father Ted!) and I'm so glad it did. What an amazing man. I believe he's right. This moment is all we've got. My mum had cancer too, and she would have agreed with him. Thank you for the video
That last man, needs to get and talk to the world, in my eye he summed it all up in about 10 minutes.
🤲
Visited Killybegs this summer. Most genuinely welcoming people I've ever come across. Loved the craic.
Best wishes from Denmark.
Blimey. I've changed accounts and devices so often that I've probably subbed to you 20 times over the years. Here I am again and you're killing it! For whatever reason, I've only had to sub the one time on Twitter, where you know me as Pretentious Toff. Love these nan on the street bits. Always a good show. Your ability to just engage with people is truly brilliant. It's a talent. You've evolved into a multi faceted figure. Love it and hold you in high regard. As I told you on Twitter before, I expect you to have a load of success in life. You're certainly a good entertainer, but you are good enough to be serious and do tv quality interviews or being a writer for programmes. Onward and upward for you without a doubt. All of the best, BA🇬🇧
I'm so excited to watch these 32 counties vids, as an American who loves your island and my roots that come with it. This is gonna be a fun little adventure and I'm glad it's with you. Slainte to 32🇮🇪
I'm also from America and have so many roots in Donegal. I'd love to visit one day! Hell, these people seem so similar to me, maybe I'll stay. Love the rain also, so that explains that lol.
Wow, nice to hear that nice accent again, but even nicer to hear those words from Brendan: "Whatever it is our role in this play, play it beautifully, fully, lovingly, enjoy the craic", hope you are still with us my man.
Sorry to disappoint so many people who were looking forward to my planned, zany wake! 🤣
So glad Brendan. So glad you are hanging around longer that expected. I am an Irishman that emmigrated to the USA more than 40 years ago. I am proud of you my brother.
@@adamos9879 Thanks a lot Adam. At this moment I'm in Waterville, Co. Kerry to attend the wake this evening and funeral tomorrow in Caherdaniel of an old friend and colleague from the army and from sailing, also a retired Special Forces officer but a much more fit and accomplished man than I, who was to ensure my own wake went according to my zany plan. There's no doubt in my mind that God is the Supreme Practical Joker of all time and that She has left me on the stage a little longer because She is so entertained by my adventures and pranks (I only say she to balance things out a bit because, God is surely beyond ender). After the funeral I will spend a week or more on the Dingle peninsula, re-learning Gaelic and continuing the adventure. 😏🙏😇
Still on the stage, Jose. Much to many people's disappointment that the well planned wake has had to postponed. 😊 See reply to Adam below for update.
Wow,! You should make a separate video of that lovely man at the end... Inspiring stuff.
He sure is living his best life
Thanks Justin. I'm living the dream, actually!! (-;
That last man has said so many important things. What an amazing human. ❤️
this last man is unforgettable!!
God Bless that last man. Amazing attitude!
An raibh Gaelainn ag do sheanmháthair? (Did you grandmother speak Irish?) Since Creeslough is quite near the Gaeltacht of Donegal.
@@internetual7350 no, im sure she knew some words and phrases. Just English.
@@jimhanratty9543 Ah alright. Always like asking the question from those in the Irish diaspora because of the importance of the language to our national identity ☘️
Brilliant last gentleman talking some sense! God Bless.
One hell of a day. That was an experience
wow that was unreal! I wonder if that man has exited the stage? Mind-blowing!
I liked this video because of the last interview
My nan , granddad and family came from Donegal , and we always had a great time , great story tellers . Sounds and look lovely to me
The mon at the end is an inspiration.
Needed to hear what the gentleman said, thank you
Those word from the last interview are beautiful! Great video
I needed to hear that last guy talk today, i just didnt know it. Thanks to both of you

My grandparents came from Towney-Kilcar then on to America years ago. It's a bit hard on the young there as they crave " excitement" and social life of the big cities. As you age you often with to go back to the home of your youth. I've been going back since 1964, but not for 21 years, I miss it all and ( especially the PEOPLE) very much.
That man at the end segment is so fantastic I absolutely love his attitude and agree with everything he said!
The man at the end had some of the most inspiring words I’ve ever heard in my 48 years on this spaceship we call Earth. Greetings from Florida ( of 100% Irish descent).
@@jamiejaycar watching this today as my father is entering hospice. I’m getting inspiration again from the beautiful words and attitude from this fine Irishmen. Peace love and happiness.
Brendan is still going strong
I have been quite fortunate in life to becable to travel land see much of the world. And yet my favorite place of them all is a small village in the west of Donegal. Theres not a good way to describe it but the first time i went some piece of me fell into place. I consider it my home because the home is where the heart is and my heart is in Donegal.
Awesome
love it - love the guy at the end. I hope I he's still with us and I can find him when I go next week :) No one mentioned the golf......hmmm.
Well done! Thanks for this
Thanks for your comment

I can't wait to visit just to meet such kind, friendly, funny people!
Irelands forgotten county is 100% Fermanagh, half the country doesn't think we exist
I'm watching this about 6 month's late but still, I really enjoyed it. Thanks Jamie!
18:30 - I needed to hear this man. What a profound guy.
I'm not originally from donegal but it stole my heart 9 years ago and havent looked back

did some searching on that last man in the video. found some stories about him but no mention of his death. here's hoping he still has a few years left.
Your Highness. I am indeed alive and well, thank you. So far, on one day every six months, the blood tests show that I don't have cancer on that day. That's all the Oncology Dept are prepared to say but sur, isn't that good enough. Some of my short stories, which you might find interesting, can be accessed by simply Googling ... I'm a Donegal woman and proud 🥰
That last guy is the typical Donegal soul. No point being materialistic in Donegal because you'll get pretty miserable having little to nothing. Better off doing enough to pay your way and enjoying the things that matter.
Would love to go for a pint with the man at the end. Would definitely learn something
That would have to be my 2nd pint then Mary because I drank my first on 7th Sept '18, after being told I have "inoperable cancer". Truth be told, I'm glad it was like that and that they didn't/couldn't operate. I'm 'living the dream' since. Brendan X
