The NHL Playoffs are out of control #4

  • Is it just me, or are the NHL Playoffs flying by?! We're well into the 2nd round and as you’d expect, the intensity keeps picking up. Things are out of control and the officiating isn’t helping. From that sneaky Sam Bennett dirty hit on Marchand going unpunished, blatant missed calls like McDavids high stick on Hughes right in front of the official to the extremely controversial non goalie interference we saw tonight in the Bruins Panthers game. We also had the broadcast cutting out with a minute to go in the Hurricanes Rangers game, Jacob Trouba flying into the boards, some flat out huge hits, plenty of mind games, plenty of nastiness as even the superstars were fighting in Tkachuk and Pastrnak and plenty more! I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

      30 years of watching the Bruins but last night I reached my breaking point. I'm done with hockey altogether. It was the only reason I still kept cable, to watch hockey. I'm up early this morning so I can get to the Spectrum office at 9AM to return my cable box and cancel my cable service. I've had enough of my team letting us down year after year, blowing leads, etc, and now I've seen enough with the officiating. Screw the Bruins, screw the NHL. I've had it with this bullshit. I don't know why anyone would still want to watch the Bruins anymore until they fire everyone and rebuild.

    The craziest thing about the goaltender interference non-call on Bennett is the fact that the NHL did not deny that Bennett cross-checked Coyle into Swayman but, that the contact didn't prevent Swayman from playing his position.
    I'm sorry, in what world are goaltenders expected to make saves with people falling on top of them?!
    And before all you people say "Swayman wasn't making the save anyway" that literally does not matter. That is not written into the rulebook anywhere. The NHL can't just make up rules when it suits them.

    • @Fr.O.G.
      @Fr.O.G. 18 дней назад +10

      Doesn't matter. Would have lost anyway. Bruins only got something like two shots on goal in the last period.

    • @catsgonyan
      @catsgonyan 18 дней назад +44

      @Fr.O.G. the only shots that matter are the ones that go in. So yeah, it does matter. The league has lost all integrity. Sure, the bruins had no business winning that game, but they had a chance, and it was taken away from them. Hard to play against two teams at the same time.

    • @jefjay8339

      I believe it was a good goal because of this rule :
      69.7 Rebounds and Loose Pucks - In a rebound situation, or where a
      goalkeeper and attacking player(s) are simultaneously attempting to
      play a loose puck, whether inside or outside the crease, incidental
      contact with the goalkeeper will be permitted, and any goal that is
      scored as a result thereof will be allowed

      @Gazaroth 18 дней назад +8

      Look at the goalie's legs. 6:17 He was at full stretch before he was hit with his own player, he had no chance to push across. That is why it wasn't goalie interference. If he did have a chance, it would have been called.

  • @gs-we3rp
    @gs-we3rp 18 дней назад +8

    The difference in rule enforcement between regular season and playoffs is significant, and the difference seem to increase each year as the NHL continues to crack down on dangerous and unsafe situations during the regular season. A slash is a penalty up to April. A hit to the head is a suspension. A face wash is 2 minutes. Then the playoffs come around and it all changes. It is mind blowing that the NHL allows it. Why watch the playoffs where a bunch of goons are allowed take down skilled players in ways that would render suspensions during the regular season? The Eastern teams are worse but it's not just one team or one series, it's the playoffs. It's too bad because hockey can be great fun to watch.

    I might quit watching after this year. I just don't understand the reffing whatsoever. The Van-Edm series specifically, not about the dirtiness, that happens every year. What I don't get is how soft plays are getting called and dangerous plays are getting ignored. Game 2 starts with a board on Peterson, making me think the refs will let things go, only to see a small hold result in a penalty. That same game 2 highs sticks were missed, one for either team and a goal was scored with too many men on the ice. The slew foot from Kane, and in game 1 Zadorov clearly tries to hurt Draisatl with his crosschecks to the kidneys. Today's game, we saw the same thing with the first penalty called on Draisatl barely being a penalty in the regular season, to then allow the game to dissolve with crosschecks all over the place, just to call a single crosscheck that while the stick breaks was a very weak call. Bottom line I'm scared for the stars of both teams, because at this rate we're going to see more of those crosscheck to the head like at the end of today's game.

      brother i hear you... i'm in the same boat... i'm an oilers fan, and I honestly might just quit watching altogether cause it's so infuriating to see stuff that should get called, not, and stuff that's so ticky-tack and barely noticeable, get called...
      and i'm 100% ok with giving penalties for the spearing and slashing (even if it might have been incidental) against ryan and mcd last game... The last thing fans need is hurt players... just garbage reffing all around, despite how hard that job is, this just isn't good enough.

    Oh I feel everyone's pain about the officiating especially watching so many Red Wings games where the officials missed so many calls. That is why there is so much chaos cuz these players know the refs aren't calling any penalties so they do cheap shots to cheat in order to get an advantage. Reminds me of the critical Capitals game we played where Copp got a high stick that eventually broke his cheek bone. Oh they stopped the play went to the commercial and guess what no penalty after the game was back on!!! I mean I thought high sticking is an automatic penalty accidental or not PERIOD!!!! We should petition the NHL or something and complain about how horrible the officials are or something 🤣 shoot I could officiate a better game give me some skates and a stripped jersey 🤣

They're barely putting up any semblance of a fight, putting up less than 20 shots on net for three games in a row (which is, i think, if i recal hearing it correctly from someone, a franchise record) , being outscored 15-5 in the last 5 and their inability to do.. much of anything regardless of home ice advantage or not? Not that great of a series to watch unless you really just want to see boston burn

    The National Hooligan League strikes again! If anyone is surprised by this kind of play, they haven't been watching the NHL - pretty much since it started. If the league (owners, commissioner, etc.) didn't WANT this type of dirty play they would take action to stop it. To think they can't stop this kind of play is silly. Make the repercussions severe enough and the players will fall in line or be out of the league.

    I know that the intensity and physicality ramps up a notch in the playoffs, but the amount of dirty plays and _especially_ head-hunting checks and elbows is a black mark on the game and the league needs to unfcuk the referees and start calling some of that garbage before players get sent to the hospital with life-altering injuries.

  • @Brett-mn4kl
    @Brett-mn4kl 18 дней назад +3

    I'm going to just start watching the PWHL instead of this garbage, joke of a league. No reason to keep cable or live tv subscription at this point... I'll say immediately that the Florida Panthers are besting the Boston Bruins bad officiating or not. However, anyone that sees Bennett's sneaky little punch and think that it did not warrant a penalty / suspension or that that scum bag didn't commit goalie interference on the game tying goal last night, doesn't know jack shit about hockey. Yes, Marchand and previous Bruins teams played and got away with shit in the past... Again, due to the leagues poor officiating. If it goes your teams way, it's all fine and good, but when it doesn't it's painfully obvious how unprofessional the NHL is... Panthers are a better team than the Bruins, it's just simply the case in this series... However, the NHL needs to stop the bullshit going on league wide and that includes any Bruin doing shit like this.
    I am a Boston Bruins and yes, I'm 'salty', angry and pissed off they are getting dominated by the Florida Panthers. However, The Florida Panthers do not need the NHL's help to defeat the Boston Bruins... They could do it on their own and certainly without Sam Bennett punching people and committing clear goal interference. There is a reason the NHL isn't a top league world wide and certainly not in America (save for Canada obviously) and this garbage officiating only adds confusing to a new viewer. I'll let my anger be known with my wallet and just watch the PWHL or another sport entirely. Fuck the NHL.
