Damn I love this sport......
Canadian junior hockey is no longer the dominant force they were. The US. has more kids playing hockey now and it looks like their system is superior. Well played USA.
I raised 4 boys all of whom played minor hockey . At today’s prices I would not be able to afford the cost of ice time travel and equipment. They’d be playing soccer. It is not the inclusive national sport it used to be.
Apart from the dumb penalties I didn’t think Canada played a bad game. They generated a lot of chances especially considering how much time on the PK. You can’t give the US endless power plays and expect to win. Absolutely undisciplined play by a handful of Canadian players screwed their chances.
Much as we need to give the USA guys credit, Team Canada has only themselves to blame. They wasted another good goaltending performance by George (That 17 yr old Ivankovic who started vs Latvia was great too). They're the most penalized team in this tourney by far, and this trend not only continued but was more noticeable in this pressure cooker game, a crosscheck up around the neck, a high elbow thrown from a distance, a dangerous hit from behind into the side boards which was already interference since the Yank had long since passed the puck, a flagrant holding penalty that continued from the blue-line halfway to the red-line... ref signals a US penalty and a Canuck (Pinelli was it?) winds up getting penalized too cause he can't control his emotions and refrain from engaging in rough-stuff after the whistle, and we saw much too much of that after the whistle antics all game. I had absolutely no problem with the officiating, all the calls against Canada were warranted, and the only flagrant infraction I saw that was missed was a crosscheck by a Canuck, to a Yank, in the offensive zone, again completely unnecessary. No worries, Sam Dickinson (think it was) takes a penalty deep in the Canadian zone seconds later, this one a good penalty to take since a Yank puck carrier was streaking past him... Again to give the Yanks credit where credit is due, they demonstrated far more poise and patience with the puck deep in our zone, our guys, when the roles were reversed, seemed rushed, treating the puck like a hot potato, missing shots from the slot, making errant passes into skates, yadda yadda... Team Canada who beat Finland 4-0 in it's opener, although they still took unnecessary penalties, hasn't been the same since the injury to that 17 year old Schaeffer who had a goal and an assist in that game. , Many would argue that Schaefer was their most dynamic and gifted player offensively, a player they counted on to quarterback the power play, and to jump up into the rush, creating odd man rushes, beating guys one on one, freeing up forwards for great scoring chances. Not to flog a dead horse, but total shots on goal can be deceiving. It's quality that counts. Canada looked woeful off the rush in the first, and the Yanks looked deadly (but for a couple of posts, and great saves by George, score would have been worse) At a certain point, especially after the Schaefer injury, you have to wonder why guys like Parekh and/or Yakemchuk were left off the team? Or why one or the other wasn't flown in as an injury replacement? A guy like Bonk is no substitute as a puck moving D-man on the pp. As Jeff O'Neil lamented, Canada's number one pp unit looks inept then, with the pp nearly over, the 2nd unit led by McKenna and Catton scores. So does Cameron start them on the next pp? No he does not. Again they see only the last few seconds on the next pp and wind up hitting the post. Particularly in the round robin part of the tourney, It's not only up to coach Cameron to identify which forwards are hot or not, but to penalize guys who repeatedly take selfish and undisciplined penalties by juggling the lines, moving guys down the lineup, giving them reduced ice time and, if need be, parking their keisters on the end of the bench. Mckenna and Catton were our most dangerous forwards. Rehkopf took 2 undisciplined peanlties in a row, did he not? Where's the response from the coach? Last I heard Michael Misa had 25 goals in 25 OHL games, and Tij Iginla, not unlike his dad, helped Canada win gold, albeit in the U18s... This crop of juniors won both the most recent U18 WCs and the Ivan Hlinka tourney, demonstrating plenty of scoring punch. So now were seeing this version of U20 team Canada uncharacteristically wasting GREAT GOALTENDING and averaging only ONE measly even strength goal per game. At what point do Cameron and the TC brain trust, or lack thereof, get put on the HOT-SEAT???
Uhh... what defense? You mean the guys who are staring at the puck in the corner while the USA player stands alone in front of our net and in the slot?
The Swedes and the Americans are the class of the tournament, that's been clear since day one. Despite all the shots in these games, Canada isn't really making life all that difficult for the goal tenders. The quality of their shots has been rather poor. The goalies are having to do very little outside of the routine. Many people are complaining about the roster, but it really shouldn't matter that much. Any Junior A (or NCAA) player should have the ability to hit the corners and make the goalie work, no less guys who are amongst the top 100 or so U-19 players in the country, which all of these guys are. Canada is simply in a valley period for young talent. There aren't going to be Crosby's and McDavid's coming through the system every 5 years. Moreover, the punishing side of Canadian hockey has been neutralized with the drastic change in the mentality of players and in-game 'culture' over the last 15 years. I found it laughable when the pre-game mantra was 'getting back to hard playing' when there has been nary a hit thrown throughout the entire tournament. It's not the fault of these kids, as the powers that be who've implemented the changes that have altered the sport so much, did so without really taking the time to make sure they were making the right adjustments in the right ways. I think these kids would be shocked if they were to watch team Canada games from the 80s, 90s and early 00s. It was the most physical and exciting hockey with the way those kids flew around the ice finishing every single check. I don't even think kids start hitting until age 14-15 now, which is absolutely ridiculous. Then we wonder why players don't know how to protect themselves on the ice anymore, don't know how to take a hit or give a hit, why NHL players react like 16 years olds when they take a hard, clean hit, and why the game has become pond hockey. At this rate, there will be no physical play in hockey at all by the next decade.
Im Canadian and these fans annoy me. They look like a bunch of whiners. This teams sucks, no character. Sticking your tongue out after that goal was cringe.

Canadian junior hockey is no longer the dominant force they were. The US. has more kids playing hockey now and it looks like their system is superior. Well played USA.
Our best jr eligible players are in the nhl though
You need to go have a look at the current talent pools...
I raised 4 boys all of whom played minor hockey . At today’s prices I would not be able to afford the cost of ice time travel and equipment. They’d be playing soccer. It is not the inclusive national sport it used to be.
"USA" To Strong For Canada, merci.
Apart from the dumb penalties I didn’t think Canada played a bad game. They generated a lot of chances especially considering how much time on the PK. You can’t give the US endless power plays and expect to win. Absolutely undisciplined play by a handful of Canadian players screwed their chances.
As a Wings fan I'm very excited to see Augustine in the net.
My friends thought I was crazy when I said the Canadian players seemed slow, guess I was not that crazy…
Canadas best jrs play in the NHL, or else they would have zero chance to win
LETS GO USA USA USA 🇺🇸
Something is seriously wrong with how they are picking the players. Won’t see another gold for awhile.
Тренер и менеджмент худшие за многие годы
So great beating Canada. They never get beat, there is always excuses.
Canada looked woeful off the rush in the first, and the Yanks looked deadly (but for a couple of posts, and great saves by George, score would have been worse)
At a certain point, especially after the Schaefer injury, you have to wonder why guys like Parekh and/or Yakemchuk were left off the team?
As a Kings fan, I’m excited to have George in our pipeline and can’t wait to see how his career unfolds
Yeah…but why don’t you tell us what you really think?
🇺🇸 just way better
John and Mary Post were very busy tonight...
OUR SPORT NOW BOYS
good game
What a surprise 😂Canada defense is ridiculous
Uhh... what defense? You mean the guys who are staring at the puck in the corner while the USA player stands alone in front of our net and in the slot?
Nothing better than watching the Canadian fans leaving early
Americans don't even know the game is on.
Pfft, all five of us Americans in this house just watched Canada get their ass kicked
@@andykennard9458ass kicked? Really?? You were outshot and your goalie made some great saves. It was a close game.
I 👎🏼 but 😂
@@andykennard9458Hardly an ass kicking. The game was a lot closer than you think. Canada outshot you and all your goals were off poor discipline PPs.
❤
Absolutely. These kids need to go watch the world juniors when Jordin Tootoo was playing. Every single check was finished. Every one
nice job USA
Canada just can't score. Lots of opportunities can't finish.
Canada left its goal scorers at home...literally.
@@JM-gj7deAs an American, I’m stunned at how many top scorers they left off this team.
@@heshy14 Вы молодец, все верно и глубоко смотрите на этот вопрос
i hope canada goes out in the QF, its will give me so much content to watch with james duthie, gord miller and mike johnson lost for words.
One of the worst world jr teams they have ever picked. That was pathetic. They don’t deserve a medal after that stupidity
100% tariff threat worked again.
USA
So glad Augustine is a Red Wing! 🐙🐙🐙
USA! USA! USA!
Im Canadian and these fans annoy me. They look like a bunch of whiners. This teams sucks, no character. Sticking your tongue out after that goal was cringe.
Canadians have zero class not surprised
Welcome to the new reprogrammed canada

Спасибо тебе Ютуб,хоть так посмотрим.❤❤❤
Who picked this Canadian roster worst team ever. They can't pass, score and are very undisciplined, we don't deserve a bronze . I am guessing the parents with the biggest bank accounts made up this team because talent was definitely left out. And this Cowan kid is supposed to be the next big thing..😂😂😂😂😂 UNREAL
Ya Cowans weak pass to our own slot after all 6 players had just chased the puck into the opposite corner with an empty net looked like a Saturday morning Timbits team!!!! I think there's some questioning on his performing under pressure among other aspects of the game! Joke!!!
Augustine had a great game.
