    I showed this image to my parents the other night from your Instagram post. They've never seen the Horsehead Nebula before. I told them one day soon, I hope to be capturing images half as beautiful as this. I was however able to get several hours of the Orion Neb and the Crab Neb while I was down there for the holiday in their Bortle 4 area. Going to sit down and finish processing those images tonight. Amazing Horsehead image bro! Always love seeing your final results!

    A minor correction at 1:04. IC 434 is the name of red the emission nebula behind the Horsehead. The Horsehead Nebula is designated as Barnard 33 (B33). Fantastic image at the end! The next time I visit this subject, I'll try to incorporate some Ha data into my existing color data to get that extra pop!

    Another great photo, Trevor, thanks. The only thing astro related that I have room for in my 2-car garage is my foam kneeling pad, and that's only in there because I use it for gardening and other yard work. No, I can't move the cars out, they haven't been parked in there for years.

  • @vinceveltri7732
    @vinceveltri7732 2 года назад

    Trevor, multiple solutions for your garage / control room would include the construction of a small yard shed (for yard maintenance hardware) or modify the interior of your garage by splitting it into two defined sections. One portion for yard stuff and the other side as the control room with insulated walls with drywall, desk/workspace, shelves, multiple electric outlets, lighting, cable and internet and a portable heater & air conditioner. Add an old carpet remnant or area rug to separate the cold concrete flooring. You'll never leave it.

    Thanks for the Blink information. When I use DSS on my photos the first time I always "stop" the program after it "scores" the photos. I then click on the star column and it rearranges them from low to high and in almost all cases the photos with less star have clouds or the mount got bumped.

    Oh wow, I took just yesterday photos of Horsehead Nebula. I am just starting, and my lens are some old soviet 135mm lens with sony a6000. But I just push through and my image is still processing. I have only 14 minutes of exposure and comparing to your 6 hours of exposure and many more hours editing, I really respect you for your passion. Merry Xmas! It's also crazy that two people far away can see same things, getting the same chances of capturing your own, amazing hobby.
    Edit: ok, 14 minutes and lightly polluted night sky without filter is a disaster for me. Maybe with much edit I could get something but i think it's just waste of time... guess i have a lot of days to shoot orion...

    Hi Trevor )
    I don’t know if you’ll see this question but I’m curious about when you framed the horse head nebula it was on the vertical short side of the camera sensor and then of course you’d want to flip it horizontally for the final image . But I’m just curious if you could just rotate the Camera so it would already be on horizontal framing and not have to flip it in post ?. I’m a newbie so I’m not really sure what the advantages or disadvantages of doing it either way . Would love an answer if possible thanks , love your contributions.

    Hey, Trevor. I know a $500 setup can’t produce this quality of shots, but can you recommend a dependable, affordable Dobsonian to at least be able to see a good number of galaxies and nebulae? It may not be feasible in the $500 range but I’m slowly working my way up to higher quality scopes
