Asians are considered polite and shy, and others take that for weakness. Growing up in the 80s, I have gotten expelled from 2 schools fighting back racial bullying and harassment. I was looked at as the bad guy because I got into so many fights. Most Asians just took the abuse, hoping it would go away. I fought back every time. Fortunately, I "gave" much more than I "got". Eventually, I became BADD enough and BIG enough where no one ever attempted those things. Looking back, the absolute worst abuse came from those that were supposedly "oppressed" about 200 years ago. I am glad my kids and grandkids don't go through what I did.

Yup same here, you're supposed to fight back every time to send the message, even if you lost the fight. I've got into so many fights in the 90s I lost count.

I'm black and I think Asian people are beautiful. You have beauty, grace, culture and strong family values. I really can identify with the comments made in this video. Racism is ugly, raw and painful. I remember walking home from school and a man spit on me and looked at me as if I was the most disgusting thing he'd ever seen. I was 6 years old. I had no idea in that moment that that was just the beginning. The honesty within this video is so painful to hear because it puts the spotlight on the ugly reality of life for minorities. I commend each person that participated in the making of this video. It's not easy to welcome the world into one's private pain and struggle. RUclips needs more videos like this.

Firstly, oppression, we know to be unjust treatment or control (prolonged) or mental pressure or distress (per the dictionary). We have varying levels of oppression, such as historical oppression from slavery to sexism against women. We now have ways to bully in many ways than before, and in my humble opinion, it is not only a form of discriminatory harassment. Still, it can be seen as oppression (using the definition as a frame of reference). Then, if we leverage Twitter or social media to continue to add more significant distress to the point where we have people committing suicide, no matter the race/gender, these tools are now used as a catalyst to add to that hate over time (prolonged unjust treatment). I'd also love to hear your thoughts on this if you are willing to share.
Pro-life shouldn't just be for humans, all walks of life, as you mentioned. We've been conditioned as a society, especially now, to mind our own business, and the pandemic didn't help our social norms/skills of communication/interaction. I agree that we should help our neighbors, become vocal, and take action. We all have ways of contributing meaningfully, and I hope we can get to that state where we treat all living things respectfully. I believe we all have our own take on pro-life, too, just like those who support pro-choice have their opinions on when it is too late or too early.
If we can honor each other's opinions, lean in to learn about our choices/opinions, and find ways to support one another, we can step towards a better world. Even if we choose differently, we can honor/respect that choice, but maybe we can continue to speak about our beliefs to inspire or question what we are doing, not to forcibly change someone's mind, but to share our stories.
I don't don't feel any sympathy for them. They come to the US unite with white people in racism against black people. Let them fight for themselves the way we did during slavery, Jim Crow and yes the current anti black discrimination that still occurs.
Oh and let's not forget they're a hot mess when it comes to the treatment of the black Africans in China.
White people are poisoned, brainwashed, manipulated and engineered by their sick politicians and religious leaders for centuries. racism became their culture and they are not going to change soon. They committed a lot crimes against humanity because of racism and they are not repenting and acknowledging the pain of others. The problem is none white people of the world who are the majority don’t do racism against white people. If they do it where ever they are without hurting their physically, these people should stop their sickness. Remember none white person, you are human, you are great, you are beautiful, you are intelligent and you are like white man or women or better.❤️
I literally teared up seeing this. Im south Korean American and have received considerate amount of racism throughout my life. I never had any other friends who were Asian so I couldn't share and relate to someone else. I don't think everyone in every race is racist just a few bad apples. I have been beat up and called racist slurs and made fun of how I look to my face. Its hard to stick up for myself because I'm the only asian. But I will not claim I'm oppressed or make myself a victim. This really has hit me hard.
There are masses who talk as if there is racism only in Asian countries, but this is not a problem for Asians, there is racism in both western and far eastern countries..
I hope it taught you a lesson to NOT WHITE WORSHIP WHITE AMERIKKKA. Asian women fetishize and worship white men and the white race, and white genetics, they obsess with having half white babies hoping to produce blue caucasian eyes instead of cheeenky eyes

America hates Asians
They don't care what your background or your religion
As an Asian American, I grow up in a rural city in the heart of NY, I get spat on, all the racial slur in the dictionary were hurl at me by Blacks, brown, and white alike. After puberty I started noticed the trend of Western propaganda media perpetuating Asian as the bad, evil, and weak, it was bad. I stopped watching movies since.
they only show the incels of asians on hollywood and give them clown rolls if they are kind of main character or they make them servants or side kicks
I stopped going to Hollywood movies for the exact same reason, in the early 90’s.
I'm Asian and have experienced everything my fellow brothers and sisters here have as well - but we never talk about it - no one knows - glad to finally see we aren't alone and stronger together. AAPI love.
The thing is, I feel black people get treated better because they let their voices be heard. I'm glad more Asians are speaking about this. We have a lot of catching up to do.
This reminds me of the pandemic and all the Asian hate. However, the George Floyd incident was different. A lot of other races stood behind blm. We don't have other race support yet. But, it will happen one day.
And yet you all still find the time to shit on Africans

Every human being in this world is unique. If people are born with different skin color or born in different social groups the purpose or goal of the human beings will not change. We are all here for a purpose and we all deserve love and respect period.

The lady who was crying has been sheltered for a long time. The reality is that asian americans will always be considered a foreigner. Never let people talk down on us. Say something or physically fight back

She's an incredible person, Richard. She started an anti-hate organization with another incredible human being and spoke her truth when comfortable. Each person will walk a unique life story, and that's okay. As brothers and sisters to each other (all races), if we are incapable of fighting (some are not confrontational and fight in other ways - as she did by creating a movement), let's stand up for each other. More violence begets violence, and the perpetual cycle will continue.
I hope, brother, we'll get in front of all the hate with less violence. Greater conversations. I honor your approach, though we all have our own ways of handling situations like this. I used to get into fights as well, but I remembered how hard it was for my mom to see me not only go through suffering and lash out at others while understanding her experience watching me get into trouble. I live in an affluent neighborhood composed of mostly asians and there are no issues I've faced.
Safety in numbers. It's easy to target a group when there are only a couple of them.

I'm Mexican American but I was made fun of because my eyes are slightly slanted and the would say all kinds of Asian slurs to me,it made me feel awful, ultimately I ignored them and focused on school, now I love my Asian eyes and would never change them. Just stay strong and be better than the rest and that's what I did! And study your culture, I studied mine and when I get a stupid person I educate them right on the spot. The united states' of America is for all people not just people who think they are the only ones who belong, they are mistaken.

Such an important part of the process of changing attitudes & opinions is sharing stories that hit home. If we take the time to listen and understand what people are going through, we learn to have more empathy and understanding towards others that are different to us. im half korean and the amount of times i got picked on as a kid because of my eyes is insane. people would pull back their eyelids and mock me, start speaking unintelligibly with a chinese accent (in a way that mocks the language) whenever we interacted, call me various slurs and much more. i didn’t give it much thought when i was younger but it got to a psychological level where i was self conscious of my appearance and race. i tried my hardest to make my eyes bigger with makeup and as i aged i would actually wish to look more european and ‘white’ so that i wouldn’t stand out as much. and then the whole fascination with the east-asian culture started and that’s a whole other topic because i had various guys try to get with me just because im asian. this one guy would pointedly tell me how he likes watching p*rn starring asian actresses and that disgusts me. to this day i can’t imagine myself in a relationship out of fear that my partner would only want to be with me because im asian and feitishize me.
We heard that so many times, and it saddens me that you are not alone. I'm sorry you had to go through that. That needs to stop. I remember people genuinely asking me if we raised our dogs to eat them or would ask if we ate "weird things" at home. I didn't even know how to respond as a kid; these were from adults. I hope you know that you were beautifully designed and created to love + I hope you find that soon. We all deserve it, no matter our race or background. A boy I knew for a couple years asked me a micro aggression, “Where are you from?” When I told him I was born in an Asian part of California, he made a racist sound with his mouth that’s hard to describe by words. The next day I confronted him and showed the same fury he gave me. His face got red and he said, “I’m not like that.” “I don’t care where anyone’s from.” I haven’t talked to him since.
Don’t let anyone bully you whether it’s race or not. Stand up for yourself. Peace.
I asked a guy I was ubering where he was from and he said California, it made me feel kind of rejected. We were having a great conversation, and I was just curious, but I do understand that he's probably been asked that question in a whole different context plenty of times in his life. I wish there was a more appropriate way to ask the question, because I'm genuinely interested in the differences in asian cultures and want to know about food and language. Maybe I should have phrased it differently, or just minded my business?
As a Black person I'm surprised that this the first time I've seen Asians speak about racism....its the first time ive searched for it but also its weird that I had to search for it. Dunno if you get what I mean.

Us Black people in Europe also don't suffer to the extent African Americans do but that's just because America are Gold medalists in racism. The Black American experience is the gold standard in racial oppression. But BECAUSE of that African Americans are sometimes caught up in completely invalidating other groups' experience while simultaneously wanting their own experience to be validated.

My army buddy had asked me to go with him to visit his aunt and uncle. He was Caucasian and so were his relatives. I spent the night there. His aunt and uncle had not come home yet. I was asleep on their sofa when his aunt woke me to pull out the bed hidden in the sofa. She also gave me an extra blanket. That gladden me so much to this day. My friend said he didn't get an extra blanket. He kidded good-naturedly. Great experience for me.

This is very heartbreaking 😭, my family has had so many things happen its crazy. I am Chinese/Taiwanese which is hard because those to countrys are very opposing and stuff, and my dad gets a lot of discrimination from people at Tiawan because of him being Chinese and once when my mum was in college (in New Zealand) she had beer bottles thrown at her while being called racial slurs. I hope in the future we won't have to live is fear and shame of our own culture ❤
I came to the U.S. form Hong Kong in 1960 and lived in South Los Angeles. There were over 90% black and 5% Latino. the only racism was when I as going to junior high school. Blacks were calling me names and bullied me after school. I had fights every day after school walking home. I took up martial arts to defend myself.
The only other time I experienced racism was in LAPD from suspect and other citizens. I became an engineer later, I had traveled for work all over the country. and never experienced any racism in my professional life.
Thanks for sharing your story, Tony. I'm glad you haven't gotten racial slurs as an adult. I did again, and blows my mind, still in 2022 and we're a kindness company, hahaha. Go figure, right? But, everyone is suffering and I wonder what's happening in someone's life where they have to rip into another one to feel better. A lot of healing is def needed.

That's interesting because I'm a black woman and lived all over Asia for 10 years and experienced racism from Chinese and koreans so bad. And asians in my neighborhood in Chicago very racist. They will even assault you in Asia and the police do nothing. There is blackface on the TV and they call you the N words and monkey. I've never experienced that from wytepeople

As Asian Americans, don't look for allies from other races. We Eastern Asian Americans need to come together, stand up for ourselves, and be proud who we are. We are strong, beautiful, powerful, and important.
Also your background is connected to a country outside of America and so there you enjoy being part of the majority and if necessary have the backing of that nation to stand in the gap for you. My advice is call out anti-asian racism plus Jim Crow Joe passed a law protecting Asians. Mzungus like to point out that African Americans are the problems while they hide their hand in all of the dirt they've done to Asians and continue to do. Be wise.
And teach your daughters and sister to stop worshipping and fetishizing white men. It's disgusting, self-disrespecting your own race is gross.

I was looking up videos on “how to handle racism” when I chanced upon this video. I feel sad that all of these beautiful people were called names and had to go through this.
I am Indian and moved to America 6 years ago. I live in a predominantly white neighborhood and have experienced subtle reactions from people which reminds me I look different than the others. Past couple of weeks have been hard, I have experienced full blown racist comments to microagressions. I get anxious every time I step outside my house but I remind myself everyday that I am beautiful and brave and am not letting bad people have power over me.
I was born in Honolulu, HI...4th generation Japanese American. I experienced this sort of thing from a very young age...but, it was different for me. At the age of 4, we moved to Japan...I remember getting into numerous fights because although I was Japanese, born in Hawaii, I was singled out as being different...Gaijin...Foreigner. I learned to fight much older kids. We then relocated to Washington State when I was 10. It was no different there...I was called "China-Man"...again, I was fighting kids 3-4 years older than me (winning at least half my fights). It wasn't until the age of 10, when my dad asked if I wanted to take Karate that my life really changed. When I met my sensei...he asked me why I wanted to learn Karate...My immediate response was, that I wanted to win 100% of my fights against these older kids. He then asked..."Why are you getting into so many fights with older kids?". My response was...they call me Chinaman... I remember him looking perplexed...he then asked if I was Chinese...I said no, Japanese. He then replied..."So...why does it bother you so much?" Something so simple...yet, it changed the course of my life. He was from Hawaii, a Japanese American. I studied Shito-Ryu Karate with him until we moved to Alaska. There, I studied TaeKwon-Do from my instructor while attending the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. I was fortunate to study under this man...he was a true, old-school style TaeKwon-Do - Chung Do Kwan practitioner from Korea. Once I graduated, I moved to Anchorage where I was able to learn Kendo from an All-Japan Champion...many years later, I am now back in Hawaii, where studied Wado-Ryu Karate, and recently Shotokan. I don't see the issues that I experienced as a young child here in Hawaii where it is a big melting pot of cultures. I can say this...that simple conversation I had with my Sensei in Washington changed the course of my life. Since that day, I have not gotten into a single fight...Its not only knowing my abilities, but learning to avoid situations where conflicts may arise and being observant of your surroundings. Whether purposeful or now an innate behavior through my studies...my anger from my youth times has subsided...and I confidently carry myself and my family through life. I wish the best for those in this video...
I drove to the baker's to get freshly baked croissant one morning. While standing there waiting for my turn, a dignified looking German man was standing too close to me. He then whispered in my ears in German, "You stink."
"Excuse me. Did you mean, me?"
"Yes, you and all of your kind!"
My ex husband knew that I never exit the house without taking a shower (shower in our standards mean scrubbing, soaping and shampoo not just soaking in a bathtub of hot water like them). I had full make up on and my hair in a French Twist. Yes, no exaggeration, I am that kind. I went, "Excuse me, I use Chanel 5 and not your cheap 4711 local perfume!" 😂😂😂 I was seething with anger while jotting down his license plate. Cops were on him.

as female, Indonesia-chinese, being poor,old and sick , the only place that I can survive on my own is Hong Kong.
I grew up in the late 80s and 90s with these types of racism but my way of dealing with it was to hurt them back physically just cause I could. I was so bitter and held such grudges I'd even join sports like wrestling just to target some kids to hurt. I want to send them to the hospital and even did it. It never made me feel any better. The taunting stopped and some kids just stayed far away from me. In my adult years I regreted and so ashamed of my actions! I wanted to be liked and accepted not feared.. I feel for anyone not just Asians who had to go through this. Its no way to live. I want my kids to be light years better then me and not be bitter like I was.
Trust me, if you had taken the other road as many have, you would not have been necessarily liked and accepted either. Better to be feared and lonely than to be weak and lonely. And you may have indirectly saved others from these bullies by putting fear of messing with your kind into them, whereas with the opposite, it may have encouraged them to go after more people.
Bro, you did the right thing to fight back. Otherwise, the taunting and hate would have continued!! They are so fucking mean!! I am proud of you for sticking up to bullies.
It's all been terrible. I don't understand how people can outright laugh and humiliate another stranger for their appearance, to take pleasure in making another person feel bad. I can't imagine ever doing that to another person. I also don't understand why people have been attacking Asian elderly. It's gross for me to even think about striking another person unprovoked, let alone a senior. It's cowardly, disgusting and disrespectful. Love to all the people speaking up about their experiences.
I’m Chinese, I moved to Ireland in 2nd class/grade the teacher was being so racist to me we were doing art and she LITERALLY BURNT MY PAINTING at that time I didn’t really understand but thinking back I under stand it now. In 3rd class (I’m not trying to be racist okay) a black girl she kept on picking on me it good that my friend she stood up for me, in 4th class we were talking about pets and we were talking about what our dream pet was I said a dog and she’s like oh u want to own a dog and kill it to eat it- in my heart I was dying and it was so painful and the teacher didn’t care about it- in 5th class that girl went to an other school so that year it was fine but still being picked on kinda. In 6th she came back and she kept on calling me a virus and I eat dogs and stuff I pretend to didn’t hear that and I went to the bathroom and tried to calm my self down. Like now I think about it I didn’t understand why I didn’t stand up for my self. And also they will mock me for speaking Chinese and Cantonese. It is very annoying tbh. To anyone that is being picked on, please don’t worry about them please they are just trying to make ur life hard to please try stand up for ur self.

@@KrolKaz It matters because its ironic. One of the biggest sufferers of white colonialism and she‘s upholding one of their agenda/stereotypes, and she‘s just a 3rd grader. She easily could have been bombarded with a whole slew of derogatory stuff about Africans too herself. Even the setting of Ireland is ironic. They were a victim during the era of colonialism, being mostly slaves. Everyone in this story could easily be put in their place by someone petty with time to waste.

As a young wife in Germany, I experienced a classic German trait that disappeared after they lost in WWII, but it was 1985 and the allies weren't around to monitor them anymore. I remember the whole apartment building was having issues about toilets being clogged so a plumber was called. The verdict....tampons and sanitary pads clogged the drainage. There were four units and my unit was the only one occupied by a Southeast Asian. So the old school German wives with their aprons on, huddled outside my window for me to hear the entire conversation. "It's that Asian girl! She doesn't know how to use a toilet bowl." In reality, all those years living there, I was surprised that my German mechanic husband still had no idea what a technical pen is until I saw him drafting with a fountain pen dipped in a bottle of ink and introduced it to him. I started using technical pens since 1976 for my pointilism in a college of Fine Arts in the Philippines. I caught him washing his feet in a French bidet and explained to me that it is for washing feet. 😳
We had a bidet since I was little. So how in the world should I not be able to know how to use a toilet?!? 😂😂😂
I lived in West Germany as a child. My dad was in the army. It was the early to mid 70’s. Did the German women have black shoes and one-piece outfits, and the old ones had scarves on their heads? And where did you live?

I js got picked on and got asked racist questions. The people I was on call with were supposed to be my friends but they asked me racist stuff and showed me asian people eating dog. When I tried to stand up for myself I stood in the call for 2 hours dealing with racist stuff and being called at by a group of black guys. Please dont attack me for that but it was a 6 of them and no before you say “You’re racist towards black people” no I’m not. The whole time they threw racist comments at me, I never said a racist things back. Because I am not like that.

I am Chinese, from the North, came and grew up near New York since a young age. Lets be real, we are all racists. Every teary eyed Asian in this video knows deep down behind the scenes, underneath the PR that we as a community are some of the most racist in America.
It just hurt you now that you are on the receiving end of this. Tough up, this is life. Because America doesn't have one central overarching culture there will always be differences and from differences will come judgement and 'racism'. We chose to live in this country because of its comfort, you can't have it both ways...there will always be drawbacks to this experience too.

I'm Filipino American and heard the typical racial epithets up until about middle school, but after that, the last 30 years of my life have been issue free. I've even worked all over the rural South and Midwest and all my clients and people I interacted with (White or Black) were completely nice to me. White Americans have helped me A LOT in my life - they taught me, helped raised me, hired me, promoted me to a position that pays me a top 1% income, approved me for my co-op apartment in a 90% White neighborhood in Manhattan. Also, I grew up around Black and Latino Americans in Queens, NY and they are my closest friends and brothers. Never been in any fight or had any aggression from any minority group. Maybe it's location dependent? I can't imagine experience racism EVERYDAY like they describe here. In NYC I just never encounter that type of ignorance. My experience has been positive in America, believe it or not. Just another perspective.

Yes, also at the very basic level, generally no other race is intimidated by Asians due to our smaller stature and gentle and docile demeanor and culture. Once people are at ease with you, the tend to treat you well. For example growing up, I saw WAYYY more Black on Black, or Black on Latino or vice versa, or Black on White fights than any race attacking Asians, LMAO. Asians were just cool with everybody growing up and no one really picked on us once we got to high school and older. I had Black friends that would beat up other Black people if they tried to mess with us LMAO. That's how good we had it in Queens. But that comes with growing up with people since we were babies. Once you have that long term bond with people, they are more like family than friends because you know them inside and out.

It makes me so sad but if you are a person of color almost anywhere in the world, you have a very similar story to tell and heal from. I have always had a very good relationship with people of Asian heritage . I'm African American and if I'm honest, which hurts, I can say identify with all these stories. The things we do to survive and fit into the larger society. Can really hurt ourselves. But we try to fit in knowing that the larger society are the very people who hate us for being different. Honoring and loving those differences it so key to self love. But PoC do what we must to make life a little easier and to try to get somewhere in this life. I came to realize the I love myself and my people. I want to understand and appreciate other cultures on a deep level. I tired of hateful ignorance.
So many incidents…. one particular incident was with a bigger bullie during P.E. We were playing football and he kept pushing me, and I pushed back. Next thing I knew, he sucker punched me. My reflex and reaction was to kick him in his chest. And got into my defensive and fighting stand…. Of course, when I am ready, the coward bullie would not fight me when I was ready and have my fists up.
Of course , he would call me all the racist nick names you can think of, because that was all he afraid to continue and all he can do was talk…
Honestly two years of living in Japan, I had the experience of having friend from many Asian honestly. Asians are very kind and respectful. overall, just because some idiot does something stupid it does not mean all of the USA are racist. it will take some more time to get over problems like this.
I find that discrimination on the basis of race is nothing compared to discrimination on the basis of looks.
What I know is that culture comes from the East for God's sake ! no matter what kind, Asia with it's colorful cultures has always been the source of many things which are trully beautiful !

My friends are first-generation immigrants and basically only contacts with their own Asian friends in the same school most of the time, but also because my friends are from Asia they just don’t have to worry about identity issues, if that makes sense.
They are now more worried that their future children born in western countries without Asian background, culture, will be isolated in western society.
They can always choose to go back to their own lands or stay in the west but their kids won’t have the same mentality and identity as they do.

Racism is everywhere. I interviewed for 3 promotions and each time I was rejected for really lame reasons or even reasons that made no sense. I’ve been gaslighted so many times.. this is the America that we live in. Asians rarely speak up due to our culture that promotes harmony instead of discourse. The back lash of even speaking up is harsh for us Asian Americans. I hope we continue to try to pave a way for our young kids and for otherpeople of different races , ethnicities, and age.
i'm asian and i've experienced my fair share of racist principal, other kid in my class, and whatnot. personally tho, im used to it and idrc unless it's with the principal. my grade 8 principal wasnt directly racist but he was biased. like this one time my asian friend saved his brother from being choked by this white kid, and my friend got suspended for it while the white kid didnt get much of a punishment. what a great idea mr principal, let the poor child choke until he passes out
me and a bunch of other asians went to report this brown kid for being racist and using racial slurs and actions, like pulling the eyes back to imitate 'chinese eyes' or mentioning things like eating dogs. we had FOUR witnesses but i guess that wasnt enough for my principal
I grew up in Southern Cali and moved to a small predominantly white/black city in Ohio when I was 10. Asian people were basically nonexistent here, and I felt a tremendous loss and a reduction of my cultural surroundings growing up in the midwest. As a white person who has always loved asian culture, it truly makes me sad to see the rise in violence against these communities. I think it's important to point out the hypocrisy and double standards in the narrative of racism in America, which, as extensive as it is, often completely overlooks hatred towards asians. We too often will ignore comments and attitudes that are so ubiquitous, it seems not worth objecting. But it is worth it. I really love my Asian friends, and I want them to feel safe and welcome, so I point it out when I see it.
i also esperience with racism bc one time when i was 10 there was a boy that lives infront of me and i had other neighbors and this boy didnt like me bc i am asian and have small eyes so he bullied me for 3-4 months and now i haven't talk to him for a long time but there also my other neighbor cousin and called me "the little chinese girl" and "the little slanted eyes" i was very upset bc i remember how the boy called me dumb and had little eyes but now im not upset anymore now im proud to be asian
It is something how people's perspectives vary, because to me every last one of the people in this video who spoke was so damm beautiful. Asian are some very impressive people, the young one' the older ones, and in-between. As an African American I can identify with what was being said in this video and have cried just the way the woman in the video did. Racism is ugly.

Thank God the owner of the pub was our friend and was pretty fond of me for giving in to his request one day, to recite an excerpt from any of Shakespeare's work which I did (Shylock's soliloquy in Merchant of Venice). When we told him about the two men he patted them on the back and led them out of the pub never to return again.

I'm a white Scotsman. I'd never observed such high levels of normalised racism/discrimination, until, i lived in Hong Kong.
I didn't have any particular problems that would cause offense to me but the basic outlook, in the local culture was that darker skins were lesser and lighter skins were better.
After moving to the USA through work (I'm an engineer) I met my children's mother, who is Asian American.
I can't recall the complete conversation but it was about discrimination and one of her coworkers was talking about racist abuse he was recieving at work.
He was a Ghanaian chap but all of the racism came from African Americans, according to his experience.
My partner did say, "oh, us Asians, we're totally racist anyway!"
I'm not suggesting that discrimination doesn't exist but it's starting to wear somewhat thin, that I've supposedly lived a life of white privilege, filled with racism and discrimination of others, which is absolutely untrue.
I get extra minus points, for being heterosexual as well! 😂
Oh and one last point, when I lived in Asia, i was constantly asked where I came from.

Nicely said by all participants. It's a shame the "Stop Asian Hate" didn't skyrocket like "Black Lives Matter". As an Asian American, I can relate to all of these stories in a way. Whether being ashamed and embarrassed of my own race or laughing off Asian jokes to not cause tension or mainly just having white friends being the token Asian pretending to be white. I've never experienced being called a certain derogatory name, but have been stared at like I was a piece of disgusting shit like I didn't belong. Many times when I wanted to say something and confront these racist, close-minded people but didn't. I know Asians are kind of low on the totem poll and are ignored but we aren't second-class citizens. Hate, racism, and judgments will always exist whether how much we push to stop them sadly. You are all important and beautiful inside and outside my Asian brothers and sisters!
The earth is full of all kinds of ppl, i often see myself as an international person living on the earth, that's it. Being a kid is tough, being a kid and living in a diversely cultural community is tougher. It's much easier for adults to handle the racism. I often tell my kids, 1st, be kind and treat people the way you want to be treated. 2nd, remeber your rights and fight back. 3rd, you can't please everyone and wish each of them to like you,carefully choose your own social circle and befriend with those who really treat you as a friend. Last, you're unique and beautifully, learn to love yourself. From my experience, racists are often under educated, shallow and narcissistic, anyways, boys and girls, learn to protect yourself while you're encountering racism. There are sooo many nice people out there, befriend with them, so move on.
I thank God for my parents. I feel privileged to everyone of these people as friendships, heck, family. As long as people aren't racist against me, I see people as people, their "differences" as cool. I glad I cant grasp hating or hurting a fellow human because they were born with minor unique "variations". Only a satan can create such hate in peoples hearts. You are all beautiful people.

I am korean. Living in australia and going to a private school. I have had times were my food was "weird" and "smelly". The fact that none of them have tried korean food and saying rude things is just disgusting thinking back. I have always been called the skinny asian weirdo and been called not "korean enough" and that people think im "chinese". It is said that litterally no-one as ever thought i was korean. If I say so they get shocked and all that and thought I was chinese. Nothing against chinese but asia is not just 1 country. I have been set to the expectation that if I am not white, flawless and attractive, I am not acceptable in Australia. I honestly love going to korea for holiday every year and being able to just have fun and not have to worry about racism. I have good friends but most are asians and understand my struggles. A few days ago I went to the shopping centre (mall) and was in line to get food. In front of a group of what people would presume popular girls, glaring at me and snickering about my face. It hurts really, even if I haven't faced physical bullying any type of bullying hurts. In every year I have at least 3 girls who just disgustingly hate me for no reason. Is the reason because I am asian? Because coincidentally they are all popular girls. Sorry but any type of racism is wrong. Color of your skin, Hair, Eyes and your facial features shouldn't determine your respect status in the world. It is sad but its the. truth and teachers never do anything. Girls just lie and say sorry and start bullying again... nothing can be done. As an Asian, i have lived on all 3 coasts. Went to schools and university in the SOUTH - and NEVER had a problem with racism. My best friends are WHITE. Some of the kindest most supportive people i have ever met. Maybe its just me...i dont judge people by their color...i have no preconceived notions based on color as far as what to expect.

I never got treated bad because of my race because i was part of the majority. I am Chinese, Japanese and Hawaiian growing up in Hawaii. The great divide was between the locals and the Whites from the mainland.

I live in Iran, and I think I should share something. If you're Asian and you're visiting Iran nowadays. You may find people acting harsh and cold with you, which they don't usually. I wanna explain so you don't assume us as racist. Our pure dictatory is trying to sell our country to Chinese pieces by pieces. The country which we cherished for thousands of years. So some Persian may think every Asian tourist is a Chinese colonialist who works with government.

for example, a white guy living in China is a minority.
its really difficult if you are a minority. your background, appearance and culture are different from the majority and you are always expected to adjust, assimilate and consistently prove yourself.
this is why i will never immigrate to a country where i will become a minority. Asian Americans are basically recent immigrants/children of recent immigrants and are considered minorities in the USA. And most minorities are victims of such prejudice and lack of belongingness.
