  • Strengthen your core in just 6 minutes a day with this simple, effective home workout! 9 great exercises to strengthen your complete core including your abs, obliques, lower back, and hips. Led by a physical therapist to help you increase core strength, decrease pain, and help you look and feel your best.

    I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… a large number of my patients would never need to come see me for their pains if they just took part in some regular core strengthening.
    The problem is, most people don’t know the right exercises they should be doing to increase strength in their core and most videos online are too long and too difficult.
    Those are the exact problems I wanted to help solve with this video!
    This is a quick core workout that only takes 6 minutes to complete.
    You’ll complete 9 different exercises to strengthen all the major muscle groups in your core and hips and there is zero equipment required.
    I’ll even personally guide you through the whole thing to ensure you’re doing them correctly to get maximum benefit.
    HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN MY CORE?
    As opposed to other muscle groups in your body, your core muscles are actually very resilient to training. That means they can handle more training more consistently than other areas.
    While other muscle groups typically need 48-72 hours to recover, most people can train their core every day and be just fine.
    DAILY CORE WORKOUT
    We’ll perform this workout in interval fashion - each exercise will be performed for 30 seconds with a 5-second “transition” period to prepare for the next exercise.

    I am 53, I have arthritis in my feet, the inside of my knees are bone on bone and I have herniated disc's in my lower back. Not to mention a bit over weight. I have done construction my whole life and it has been rough on my body. I started doing the core exercises after I came across one of your older videos. I have been doing them for about a week and already feel great improvement in my pain, range of motion and it is improving my posture. Thank you and I will definitely be checking out more of your videos, just what I needed.

      @@akongas hi, I still do the stretches and exercises. In the beginning I was doing them everyday. Now I do them 3 to 4 times a week. I still benefit from them, range of motion is better, flexibility is better. Daily pain is reduced greatly. Never gone but definite improvement.

    beginner stretching; worked great so moved onto this also ,feel alot more free on my back been doing about 2 weeks ,pain in back gone plus hips feel better , work at a desk 5 days a week

      There's no such thing as a correct way to sit. Keep changing your posture while sitting to alleviate back pain. This is because depending on how you sit, different parts of you are bearing the pressure. Or so I heard. I recommend looking into it rather than just taking my word as fact.

    I’m a 42 year old male who started running at age 40, working my way up to 10Ks this past summer. I always had lower back/hip pain after running until I started doing this core training about a month ago. Since then, the pain is practically non existent after my runs and that is a massive improvement and allows me to recover faster and thus run more. Thanks, Doctor Jared!

    I love these videos from the moment I found them this morning. Take this note. I used to be over 300 pounds, and due to the hard work and hard dieting, I went down 150 pounds. However, here recently, due to unforeseen circumstances in my life, I had become out of breath going up a flight of stairs. And I can see some of the weight coming back. So this is my 1st day getting the motivation that I recently lost to get myself back to the way I used to be after losing 150 pounds before.

    I am 60 year old male trying to get back in shape. Added this routine along with your 8 Minute stretching. I have done some of these core exercises before when I was younger. I am still able to do these but they are much harder now! I think this is a great video for anyone that wants to work on there core. Thanks for making these videos!

    You are amazing. Started watching your videos and performing the stretches yesterday because of my back issues. I don’t want surgery on my back. I have had an ablation on my lower back but will not do any other procedures. I have to admit since doing your stretches I’m feeling so much better. I will be your poster child because if your followers see my MRI and the blessing your videos have been to me they will be amazed I also shared them with my son who has had a lot of orthopedic injuries from football

    Honestly I started doing these because it seemed like a great starting point after the 8 minute stretching routine and I feel so happy. I struggle with derealisation but this experience was pretty grounding, and will continue to be since I'll probably be sore later :) ❤
    I'll definitely try to do this at least a few times a week and then slowly work my way up to everyday!

    I love your routine, Dr. Jared, and it is great that for many of these, you also give an alternate version that is slightly easier for those who may have suffered from previous injuries, or who just have weaker muscles and strengths overall.     i did the stretching video for people who are not flexible and then i did this video. excellent daily workout if you do not have lots of time to workout and you do not want to use equipment. i am happy i found this channel.

    Just started physical therapy for my knee and had back pain and adding this to my workout routine has been great! It’s helped me get more core strength and I feel an added strength bonus to my knee, so happy to say this is part of my everyday workout.

    Just wanted to say thank you for all the information you graciously pass on to everyone!!! I recently had a herniated disk with terrible leg pain for weeks.     I've watched a number of core strengthening videos, but I never felt like it did anything. it was always easy, yet my core was weak.
    ... you're the first that explained the "abdominal brace" in a way that stuck. I can feel it now.

    I'm 71, and I've had back issues in the past. Now I found out that I have arthritis, a meniscus tear, and a Baker's cyst in my left knee. I love doing this ab work every other day, and it doesn't cause pain in my back or knee. Thank you Dr. Jared!!

    I incorporated 4 videos as my base workout. I am 63 years old was in good shape and great strength because of a labor intensive job I was incredibly tight and stiff. Now I do stretch , core ,stretch and the 8 minute Ab workout every day and I feel so much better. Thanks you very much for these videos Dr Jared you have made me a disciple !

    I am 44 and had a lower spine surgery about 10 years ago. Pain has started again so I am working to build my core. This was a great start. I also love your stretches for lower back pain video with your wife. I am doing everything I can to avoid pain meds. So far, so good. Thank you for all that you do!

    As an Enginnering student, I spent most of my time either seated or in front of my laptop, so to say that my overall physical form is not that great is an understatement. I'm thankful for having stumbled upon your videos, I'll do my best to follow through and slowly add more to the routine as time goes!

    This is really hard because of my disability but I really want to get stronger. Planking is *really* hard for me but I managed to hold it for a little while, whereas in the past my arms would just give out. I want to become strong. I think this will really help.

    Loved it. Gonna do it everyday with you. Instead of side plank I’m leaving my knees on the floor at this point. 54 days post op alif and plf L5/S1. Pain free after 20years.

    im a 15 yr old girl who's really insecure of her body. i dont feel pretty looking at myself in the mirror. i look at other girls at my school who are pretty asf and ive felt so out of place, even being w my own friends who are quite healty and pretty makes me feel so bad abt myself. heck i even wish i got an eating disorder at times. although now i know that unhealthy diets shld not be kept and weight should be lost healthily, also ive been seeing these gym bro on my fyp and i really want to be as strong as them lol. now that my exams have ended and i have 2-3 months of leave, i decided id do workouts and lose some weight and also strengthen my core, and fix my wobbly arms. just then i came across this video. defenitely trying this and hoping i stay motivated to finish it🤞

      Just keep working for the sake of being healthy everyone has their own body shape and a healthy and even imperfect body will always be beautiful thick or thin but most importantly always remember to be kind to yourself always. You can ALWAYS change your appearance in a healthy way

      Surprisingly I feel really good 18 hours later, with minimal soreness, so I'll make the morning stretch and this video the beginning of my exercise routine.

      Go at your own comfortable paste in any exercise and go up from there, don't get comfortable

      He does go quite fast, not enough time to get in position and adjust to feel the burn. I pause the video before the exercise starts, sometimes I’ll even give myself an extra 10 seconds to do it.

    I love this !!! I just wanted to give a little comment , I suffer with issues in my neck and head I'm only 24 but my neck is so bad with multiple injuries . I use this video for the past week after every Pilates session I do , it helps a lot because none of these strain my neck so I don't end up with a migraine after . Thank you for taking the time to share these easy at home workouts 💪🏼 ❤️

    Jared, I love your videos and they have become a staple of my weekly fitness routines. Your LISS workouts are my go-to Tuesday night workout and I'm having a lot of fun going through some of your other strengthening videos.     I've always had weak deep core muscles, going in for hernia surgery soon as well so want to strengthen the core. Started doing the abdominal brace on exercises like push-ups, squats etc. Results are phenomenal. Thank you.

    Great core workout video! I like how it doesn’t take that long and the exercises really seem to be working my core muscles! I’ve been trying to strengthen my core to help with my SI joint and so i’m glad I found this video and some of your other SI joint video exercises to help!

    I need to do those too...
    Need to strengthen my core and balance (at age 68)...Used to be very "sporty" when young...
    Have had knee pain most of last November...(has now settled)
    Now lower back, hip, groin, thigh pain for past month...(!)
    Had CT scan, Xrays, USS of lumbar spine, pelvis and hips...
    Seeing GP for results on Monday, plus action plan....
    Am glad I came across your channel! 😉👍💐

    I have always struggled with core strength ever since I stopped competing cheerleading and gymnastics. Needed this. Will be implementing this at least 4x a week and then find another video to work my way up to. This was what I needed to get fundamental strength back. Thank you!!

    This was really helpful. I couldn't quite do the swimmer yet. I had a full hysterectomy about 6 weeks ago and just started trying to strengthen back up, but I still struggle to lie on my belly. It was surprising how much I lost so quickly, but even stretching, everything is ridiculously locked up. I am not a really fit person normally, but I am a park ranger, so I am pretty active and rely on being able to move quickly and safely. I will definitely keep working on this video and hopefully will be able to add more soon.
