- Emily Bear, age 11, performing at the GRAMMY week Producers & Engineers Event at the Village Studios. Emily performed an original medley of songs she composed, "Bumble Boogie", and "Q" - a song she composed for Quincy Jones which will be on her new CD for Concord Music.
I don't think can comment enough times about Emily's beautiful playing, composing, and personality. Just love this girl. I am commenting on an old video, I realize, but I didn't know about her before. Am soaking up her music! Old and new!
Emily, you exude the heart of an angel, the mind of a genius musician and I see no evidence of conceit or arrogance. Bless you with continued joy each time you so unselfishly share your lovely talent with yourself and those who are fortunate enough to hear you play those 88's. You give me joy, for sure. Your family is amazing, not to mention your loving instructor's/mentor's.
Don't know what to admire more, her technical skills or just the music she composing. The medley enchanted me. The changing of rhythm, tempo and emotions is marvelous. Love her to bits
Bumble Boogie looks insanely hard to play, and she just makes it so easy! Love it :) this is truly a rare, God-given talent indeed
Agreed, her improv skills are in common with all her other skills, phenomenal. There is only one Emily Bear.
she is special, she is an angel, his music is very beautiful, congratulations beautiful girl. Many hugs and kisses. Greetings from Venezuela.
Emily loves to vary the "Q" segments just like a true jazz pianist should. There are a number of differences between this and the CD recording, especially toward the end were she wanders far from the original key then manages to bring it back home again. It appears that anything she touches is pure gold. It is wonderful and exciting to be alive while Emily and her RUclips companions, Umi Garret, Aimi Kobayashi, Yuja Wang, Tiffany Poon, Conrad Tao, and others are storming the musical world.
OMFG! I'm getting goosebumps all over! This is completely insane, coming from an 11 year old girl. Truely a prodigy! *clap* *clap*
I just love all your compositions, Emily! I wish I had the technical skills to play them all. Right now, I'm working on Northern Lights. So much fun! Keep writing all that inspires you, Em, because you're a huge inspiration to us all. :D
Emily has with Bumble Boogie done what used to be called variations on a theme, taking the tune the Flight of the Bumble Bee and as most viewers on here will agree improved itthe times she plays it must be one of Her favourites

Wonderful :)
Omg she is a jazz genie! I mean, can I hear a tritone substitution near the end of Q (at 9:15)???? I mean a tritone substitution is hard for even a professional jazz artist...
Well, she is a professional jazz artist, and classical artist, and composer, and performer, and arranger, and cute as all heck too......awestruck by such talent.
awesome, breathtaking, and exemplary.
What an inspiration for mankind. Her name will be associated to the 21st century. Watch out for Alma Deutscher also!
i found Alma Deutscher so late...ZzzZz
Alma Deutcher is incredible - has an incredible singing voice, composed opera, is a wonderful pianist and violonist. She seems to truly be Mozart reincarnated. The only thing is that her music sounds like in the Mozart era. While Emily is such a 21st century child in the way she composes. She is very original and I cannot but be amazed of her style that it is truly her style. I cannot compare her to anyone, at least in the classical world - from the past or from the present (the film score composers from our time, or anyone from Yannis to Morricone). She is her. I cannot say anything about the originality of her jazz music, as I do not know so many jazz composers, but seems to sound pretty original to me, also. What I also love about her jazz are the improvisations that sound so melodic. She can take any tune and transform it, develop it on spot. Her jazz is so fresh and wonderful also. And the way she is as a person. I just love her. But they are both geniuses (Emily does not like to be called so :), but compared to what average persons do, they are both incredibly gifted.
Wow, I just listened to a little more of Alma.I did not know her opera was premiered. And her piano concert also reminds of Chopin. incredible.
romanitza24 they are on different paths, in my opinion. :)
ממש מדהימה
Cool, it looks a bit like she has black gloves on! :D diva
I'd love to see her and Angelina Jordan do some jazz together. 🙂
Can you play 10 times Faster!
Nice move emily!

You joking put in Miley Cyrus in the same category of this genius. Only in America!!! JAJA
