So, Lyle Mays is gone, and I've been looking for another who has " that" feel in their heart and soul. And here she is. My heart sings with joy and my soul is hit with your emotion
I so much love this song, another amazing performance by this lovely young Lady. I`ve followed her here in RUclips for a long while. I`m 83, music in my life since a little guy with the 30s, 40s and 50s, so much wonderful ballads, classical, blues and jazz and I put her right with the top performers of all those years. Thank you Emily, love ya with all my heart, which is where it all comes from, which is what she said when a little girl.
Emily's improvisation is more thoughtful and deeper than most people's composed work, beautifully combining film scoring, jazz and classical. Since it is all midi, like all these Keyscape Sessions, Spectrasonics should offer a Keyscape Sessions songbook: sell the sheet music and give the artists 90%. There's so much to learn in these wonderful performances. Jacob Collier, Jesus Molina, Emily Bear, Philippe Saisse, Cory Henry, Shaun Martin... I mean what a joy it would be to practice and discover new ways to approach the piano
It's not super clear whether you're complimenting Emily, or using her as a mechanism to insult most other players. There is no logical or pragmatic cohesion to your argument. Because midi, a unique opportunity presents itself that all fools but me, are too blind to see! You should also restructure the revenue structure of your business and offer and obsolete product at a loss, so artists can have unreliable & unpredictable income streams yay. Also pls ignore all currently available technology that you could use at any time to transcribe an audio or video performance into notation, because it's 1980 & the next 40 years will yield no new discoveries or technologies enabling any new ways to approach a peeno. Oh how the unfortunate nature of sorrow drowns out the long faded memory of joy. Say it ain't so, jaygroov... wake me up inside.
@@ovld2023 I would also insult other modern composers during the comparison with Emily. Although I have other favorites, like Brits Benjamin Brittten, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst, John Barry, French: Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Jarre, most of the Russians, some Germans: like Richard Strauss, Richard Wagner, Bach and Beethoven, a couple of Italians like Respighi, Finn: Jean Sibelius - In any case, I consider Emily Bear to be a member of that complement of composers. That's my comparison. Because art is subjective, you may believe my opinion is extravagant, but because of the subjectivity of art, everyone is entitled to their criticism. Even you.

I was a keyboard service tech for years. Most of the 88 note weighted controllers made in the last ten years are designed to have the touch weight of a 9 foot concert grand. I found most of them to be sluggish and require excessive force. I am amazed she is playing so fluid and with a seemingly effortless flow on these actions.
@@blablasigh187 Well I have been retired now for three years so I am sure there are some new designs now. Every brand came into my shop for repair. They are after all mostly made of plastic, some sort of a weight to create the resistance, some cushions of some sort to absorb the hammer/weight impact. And the key switch contacts are all made of rubber and carbon. The rubber contacts would rip, get contaminated by dust or in some cases by a substance put on the action during assembly. None were what I would consider reliable. Although surprisingly the Casio weighted actions had the fewest breakdowns and were the easiest to repair. I never found one I really enjoyed playing, but I prefer a very light action on a piano, and none of the digitals are that light.
The name Emily has an associated meaning to that of hardworking, eager, successful, and diligence. I know words have power & I truly believe names should be thought with the intent to encourage. I’ve said all this to say Emily Bear is one of THE BEST pianist currently & she embodies her name. Because it's so incredibly playable. Before Keyscape I bought Art Vista and Steinberg the Grand. And let me tell you .... Steinberg the grand ... it was not playable. 80 gb or so and you could hook up the best midi controller in the world, the feel just would not be there. Art Vista was only 8 GB or so and the piano they sampled was not perfectly tuned (which is actually good) and it was much more playable.
