The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

This medley has been sliced and diced in prior postings,. But we are finally able to see this outstanding performance complete, as it aired on Sullivan on October of 1966. Thank you Ed Sullivan channel!
Yes finally.
yes, but they left off Eddie's intro,.... rather have all the soulfullness anyway
Now what they need to do is show the entire performance of his 1st appearance on the Ed Sullivan.
@@standaman1963yes. He did a 10 min medley on the first appearance. For some reason, they’ve NEVER shown the full performance. Its always in pieces.
So fabulous. Entertainer Extraordinaire. Sure miss him!
What would Sunday Night 🌃🌉🌉 be Without Ed Sullivan. He was the GOAT.
For sure!
It's about time I got something good from Ed Sullivan! Jackson stole many of his dance moves from James, nobody could dance as good as James Brown! King of Soul and Funk 🥁
I really respect Ed Sullivan for having black performers at a time when racial tensions were exceptionally high.
AMEN
I've seen this episode countless times on the reruns of the Ed Sullivan Show! The incomparable James Brown, no can replace him. I got the chance to see one of his shows for free. I was an usher at this theater that he came to perform at. I only saw a portion of it. Didn't get to see the whole show. Because I was working 2 jobs at the time.
THE GODFATHER OF SOUL 🌟 AT HIS BEST PERIOD. RIP SIR.
Saw James in 82, best show ever ! He did the cape routine and the crowd went crazy. Amazing performer.
Where did you see him?
@@maryrosekent8223 Saw James in Rochester NY on 11/5/82, with the great Wilson Pickett opening. James still had the moves, splits and all.

DUDE!!
James Brown always scared me as a kid, lol
Too much screaming and crazy dancing
He was amazing

@@brötzmannsax
I love _I Put A Spell On You_
@@maryrosekent8223 There are a few great versions here including the original black & white performance.
My first concert: James Brown at the Boston Arena, 1966! So many memories.
How was the show.
It was all I could have hoped for and more! He played for hours, and the band was so tight!
The 'The Lord of Funk', ' The High Priest of Soul' will never be forgotten!
James Brown will always and forever be the God Father of Soul.......One of the greatest Entertainers of all time...........Patrick. 😇❤️💯%
And funk, Jackson stole much of his moves bet James is the GOAT
Wow!
I'm not so sure that eccentricity guarantees genius... although we must admit that he had its own unique style...
Amazing. After so many years the Godfather of Soul still rules.
I feel good......after watching this video. Have a nice week.

2 capes, 1 blown out perm, and 1 incredible performance from the GFOS. Thank you Ed Sullivan channel!!
Big Bobby Byrd “picking up the pieces” at 4:23. Soul music would never be the same once that bar was set way high.
Wow that foot work ! James was not playing !!!!
He was a phenomenon unto himself!

What a great singer and talented showman, the legendary James Brown.
Got to love James Brown
God Bless JB ✨️🎶
He be dead!
Good, bad, and indifferent. This man is one of my favorite artists, hands down. The past generations of entertainers and singers were on a whole 'nother level. And in a much different class.
Brazil loves mr. James Brown!
a piece of History. Thank you!
Lawd have mercy!!! This ninja did the moonwalk on one leg🙌🙌🙌
thanks for sharing your shoes Ed
LEGEND! When I think of Tina Turner, I think of James Brown. Both had AMAZING similar sounding voices. I wish they had done a duet together.
Before Michael Jackson...there was James brown....before James Brown...there was Cab Calloway
Louis Jordan, in between
@@CARLOSBARCELOIV yea...but he want much of a dancer..love his songwritin
@@HairHoFla James Brown once said, “Jordan influenced me in every way. He could sing, he could dance, he could play, he could act. He could do it all.”
Neither Calloway or Jordan were as good dancers as JB and MJ, they all pioneers though and foundamental figures.
LJ needs bit more recognition nowadays, like sister roseta stone has been getting lately, some documentary and book would help.
Important also Cab Calloways sister, he took lot from her, she was pioneer as well before his brother.
Where did james brown learn to dance so good
And god bless the memory of the fabulous go-go dancers in the background!! Anyone in the 'peanut gallery' related to one of them?
JUST FABULOUS !!!!!!!
He was real fast when he dance 🕺
Superb!
Sweet
I’ve been waiting for this ✌🏿🎼🎶💯
Georgia Soul!
Это классно особенно концовка с танцем 2023 смотрится потрясающе
Still The Hardest Working Man left us a wonderful legacy of Voice, Masculinity and Soul! R.I.P. JB!
Excellent! Now can we please see the full UNEDITED video from his other Ed Sullivan appearance from May 1st, 1966? Please please please!!!
Check out the Shapes of the Babes in the shadows !!!
phew🔥🔥🔥
Базаров вот это легенда
Got foot work man😮😮😮
GenX missed out on James Brown's heyday from 59-73.
I'm in GenX who was too young when James Brown back in the day. However, I caught up with him when he released Sex Machine. 😅
The saxophones are so quiet, it's like they weren't recorded at all and the only reason we can hear them at all is because they leak into the other mics
Great performance. I wonder if JB scandalized some of the more conservative members of the ES audience.
Probably... at that time these types of performances were not yet widely seen, but that was the point of the Show, being able to cover a fairly broad spectrum of popular culture...
Keep the rap noise, I'll have this.
Take That !!! Michael Jackson. 😢
And what would that mean?
Just JB...
Nyehhhhh. He's still not Dean Martin.
PLEASE! DEAN WAS ALRIGHT BUT HE DIDN'T HAVE SOUL!
A little over the top
First!!🎉❤
