Sorry to hear Ron passed,he was one of the best! He helped me with many 6.0 troubleshooting issues.I just lost my coworker, trans builder, John Gill, too.
ron i got a cylinder 6 & 8 balance contribution codes , new stand pipe ,dummy plugs and a long crank when cold . thank for your great channel. 2005 ford f550.
He was correct in the video. Injectors were not even trying to fire because system wasn't energized. That sound was indicative of a low compression cylinder. The smoke supports that because raw fuel was being pumped into the hot exhaust from the low pressure cylinder
Thanks to you I look at my 06 f250 6.0. in a new light. thank you sir for you monotone Smartness and thank you for sharing. Ill hook you up if i ever become something more! I just help this small bisness right now run its 9 Diesels for the last year and half. Dont alot of work for free and looking to grow with what i have learned. Got my first diesel for 3k and working well besides the oil cooler /egr cooler. Redoing at this time (used your vid) Thanks.
Kenneth Phillips Unfortunately for the entire Ford diesel community, Ron passed away earlier this year as a result of a car accident on his way to work.
hi there will u please help me! I have a 2005 6.0 f450 and is shutting down while i driving i wait few mnts and stars again, drive good for another 5 to 10 mnts and do the same , i buy this truck about 3 months ago and white smoke comes out but lately is getting worse, this truck already have the egr delete kit on it, thanks in advance for any info about what it could be ??
Nice video. Totally agree with you Ron. Definite low compression in a cylinder or two. I am not sure why nickjames75 called you an idiot. Injectors are NOT FIRING when you jump the starter solenoid nickjames75. You got to use your ears and understand what you are hearing means, nickjames75.
2005 6.0 f550 that has intermittent miss under load ( taking off or cruising) usually 1000 rpm or greater. any ideas? no smoke new crank position and cam position sensor new oem fuel filter mobile synthetic oil
@DieselTechRon I have a cylinder misfiring only when warm. I know it's coming from #2 injector because with my scan tool I can disable the injectors and disabling #2 (causes no rpm change) all others change RPM. only misfires when up to temp. is this the electromagnets for the spool valve? or will I need to change the entire injector? I am going to open it up and check the spool valve for sticking tomorrow. Oh yea FICM voltage stays at 48V Thanks for any advise Paul
We’ll let me start by saying my turbo was making small noises of something grinding inside while I was driving , I don’t know why but I accelerated down thinking it would fix the issue but instead my truck started blowing bluish white smoke and ran for a little bit and ended up shutting off, and it leaked out a lot of oil during that time it leaked out on the passenger side of the truck looked like the smoke could possibly been from oil in the exhaust (2003 Ford F-250 6.0). Now it won’t start , and is showing a p132b code . A mechanic came with another computer and is claiming piston 5 is misfiring as well. Has anyone ever experienced this ? Or have any idea what it maybe? I don’t want too invest in all kinds of parts for no reason that’s why it’s important for me too find out what the issue is .
Hey rob quick question I have an 05 6.0 and after changing my oil the rattling sound in pre start up Is very minimal you can hear it up very low Also at high speed a little sputter it hesitation which comes and goes all ready changed fuel filters Any advice thanks
@@miguelventura7651 without even rewatching the video I can most certainly attest to what I’ve learned in the last 8 years.. went from clueless to you’ll struggle to find someone better with diagnostics than I am. Lol, you live and learn. Back then I knew everything, now I only know what has crossed me by =]
Although it's been some time I wish to bestow my sincere condolences to your family. Ron thank you for all your wisdom . May you be in god's hands

Do you have a way I can get in touch with you I have an issue I would like your input on?
Roy Wallace,
Unfortunately diesel tech Ron passed in a car accident. It is very sad to see him go.
Got an 05' that sounds a whole hell of allot like that one does while cranking. Is there nothing else it could possibly be?
Nope that's it
What do you mean by base engine problem?
compression, pistons, valves. The iron not the electronics.
+DieselTechRon 10/4! appreciate the response.

I figured that out after I commented. Thank you though. He was a very smart man. RIP
Yes he was.....
Hey there's big bug on your truck ibew
That's what it sounds like while cranking if bad injectors/low pressure to injectors
I hope you have learned somthing in the last 8 years. That's the sound of low comp on at least 1 cylinder....30 year tech here.
