This guy is still(even in his death) teaching and enlightening SO MANY 6.0 owners.. it hurts to think we lost such a GREAT teacher so early. R.I.P Ron.. thank you for everything have done for us..
So judging by what I'm reading here our good friend Ron is no longer with us. Rest in peace buddy. Please leave these videos up. They've helped a lot of people and I'm sure they'll continue.
You literally just saved us!!! Stuck at gas pump in Lebanon, Me. Crank no start. Got to the FICM part and wiggled the damn harness and sure enough BOOM ignition! Thank God for RUclips these days and YOU!
Man this guy knew his stuff. I wish he was still around to make great videos on all the fords. Very informative and honest. Hard to find in today's diesel mechanic world RIP DieselTechRon.
Not sure if anyone’s still checking this page but your pops is still teaching people how to diag vehicles post this link to a 6.0 owner weekly helped me figure mine out when I was 16!
I would like to say that i was recently working on a 2003 F450 6.0 powerstroke. I took the engine out redid Almost all the seals and gasket put it back and it wont start. I looked online for help because i was Sure i had put back everyting and every connector back properly. I have 15 years experience working on cars/ trucks so i was certain it wasnt something mechanical.. i had to look online for help and i came across Your channel.. You taught and improved my diesel knowledge soo much .. teaching me and all of us about IPRs and ICPs.. the next day ..which was yesterday.. i went to work with a confidant attitude and checked it narrowed it down and got it RUNNING.. Sir you have saved me... Your kindness still touches us RON R.I.P.
By far the absolute best best information I've ever seen on RUclips about diagnostic procedures for any type of vehicle. I was a Senior Master Ford Tech and this Gentleman knows more about how to properly diagnose a vehicle then 90% of the techs I use to work with. Starting with least intrusive and working your way through the whole system. His knowledge of the Ford 6.0L is top notch and his way of presenting the information makes it easy to understand and follow along with. I have found myself watching all his videos now and enjoying each one and I already know all this information lol. Normally when I see these videos I'm yelling at my phone "NO! Stop! Your Wrong, that's not the correctly way!!" and thinking about how many people were lead astray from wrong information due to there local RUclips professional Hack Mechanic. But that is definitely not the case with this Gentleman. Thumbs Up 👍 for sure and definite subscribe and telling everyone I deal with to watch and learn from a true professional. R.I.P Ron
Ive watched over 100hours on the 6.0,mostly dieseltechron, knowledge ron passed on through vids was amazing, wish god wouldn,t have taken him so soon,he would have been a millionair by now,god bless his wife and 4 kids,AMEN!!
As everyone has said, Ron's advice is still so helpful. I wish i knew him in life as i have rarely met in person someone who is so able to share their wealth of knowledge and do freely given. I've been having hard starts on cold days as i have a block heater fried and awaiting parts s well as at least one glow plug to replace. In the meantime I'm working the batteries hard. As I've had oil pressure issues in past when my guage didn't come up i started to worry about that... somehow scrolled to the exact spot where he discusses low batt affecting the guage. As soon as i had a good start, the oil press guage came right up and this video reassured me (again). Rons' advice is right on every time.
Ron, may you RIP, but your knowledge will help us keep our trucks going forever. You had a gift and thanks for sharing and making the world a better place!
I bought +-60 fords f250 and f350 6.0 diesel trucks for Ukrainian army, without knowing anything about this engines. You cannot imagine how this videos help us here in Ukraine, we basically start from scratch fixing this vehicles, and now 40+ trucks already fighting for Ukrainian freedom. (We have some trucks left. I’m just waiting for parts.) It’s very unfortunate that Ron cannot read this message. REST IN PEACE BROTHER, even after you gone, you are still helping a lot of people. Thank you.
Ron has been a great help to me trough his advise on 6.o diesel ford, what a great lost, feel so sad🙉, your video are still relivant till date, RIP ron.
I just came across this channel...extremely helpful with my newly acquired 06 F250 6.0 Very sorry to hear of his passing..RIP. You'll live on via the online community you've helped do much!!!
Bought truck with a no start issue and drove it home after working on after watching and listening to Ron thank you for your videos and service as a great mechanic best wishes to your family and son
Wish i had found his videos first.. Prepping to tackle my first 6.nogo and been cramming as much as poss..by far the best explanation of all associated info on the 6.0 that I've seen yet. Sry to learn you're in paradise already but I'll see you there brother! Thanks for the help! God Bless you and your family!
Ron I wish you had driven a powerstroke this year. Then you would've had a lot of metal between you and danger. Obviously that Beetle didn't do it. Wish you were still with us man. I only drive full size SUV's like Suburban and Bronco because I need metal between me and them. I wish I could go back in time and buy you some extra gas to drive a vehicle of size. To Ron's family, I am so sorry for your loss. He was a good man.
Thank you Ron! With your help I found my crank and no start 6.0. (Crank mounted Low pressure oil pump shredded.. filled the oil filter with fine particulate steel shavings). RIP. Your advise will live on!
Ron Huxell, You Sir have helped me out and saved me and my wallet numerous of times - to the point that I can help others getting they're truck's running. Where I'm at there are no dealership that know US Fords due to lack of import of new ones. The ones that are present are old and falling apart - even parts are hard to find. You end up bying Chinese junk sold as OEM if you don't import yourselves. Please do not stop making videos as I only have guys like you and Autoenginuity to help me out. Have to say FTE are greate - but nothing beats a skilled tech. like yourselves on high quality video. Ron, you are giving away hard earned knowlegde and I thank and salute you for that. Helge , Norway
I just went and got this 06 f350 6.0 and it went down on me on the way back to TN. running along just fine and gave no sines of trouble . all at once it died and would not start back. after checking out your videos for a few nights a friend and i went out and fixed it by doing what you said. man thanks so much you don't know i put all i had in this truck could not put it in a shop for the like of money right now it would have set there for ever if not for your input. thanks again man . your friend to the bloody end Neal
Hey Ron, I ran into your old buddy today down in Louisiana, Bill at Powerstrokehelp. Kinda crazy how this day and age you can know a person from a video who helped you fix your truck! Got to shake his hand and thank him for all his help, just like you Ron you guys actually care about helping people. I for sure appreciate your help also, and donating was the least i could do for you getting back to me through emails. Your Doing a Great job with your videos very professional and getting better all the time, keep it up man! Thanks Again, Casey
Boy, I sure miss this guy. Tons of good info. Another 6.0 guru that's good with FICMs and programming is FICMRepair. They have a YT channel, and sell anything a guy might need for his truck.
I have a 06 f350 6.0 crank no start after someone was pressure washing the engine, the ficm does not make any noise during the pre cycle, no injectors sounding off at all. FIcm voltage is 48, ficm is in sync, hpop oil pressure was 1400. I seen the truck running decent about 3 days prior. Thanks!
RIP Ron, Hell of a Nice Guy for Helping all us Powerstroke Owners out there All over the World. My Heart goes out to your Family. He was One in a Million. Will be Greatly Missed by Millions...
I'd like to say one thing. Its awesome that you actually tested with a unit you keep in your shop. Do you know how often mechanics just throw customers money at problems instead of ascertaining the real problem. Awesome video, and thank you very much.
Seems like a really nice guy. Sorry to the family for your loss. I'm glad my ex talked me into selling the Beetle I bought my daughter in HS now though... maybe it was a blessing in disguise.
Hi, just wanted to let you know that the 3100 series Caterpillar is a simular injection system too and I use alot of the same test but insted of 48volts for the drivers they use 120V. To test the 5Vreference voltage on sensors I made up a LED on a pigtail, that way any 3wire sensor you can plug in and you know that the harness and ECM is cool. Cat sells this tool all so.
Thank you ron! I live in quebec canada. My grand father owned a ford dealership for years. Im 31 a registered nurse, i own a 2006 f-250 with a 6.0 thank god for all your help. I have 87 0000 km a real lemon of a truck but i love ford. Have an 08 gt mustang too. Really appreciate your help. Spend most of my weekends off wrenching on it!
This message is to Rons family; I just recently found out that Ron passed away I dont know the details but I wanted to say to Rons family I committed to Rons channel (by subscribing & notifications becouse its just my small way of helping you and it says that Ron your beloved one is very much living on and helping people ,that is huge not many people can do that (like this) so God Bless you
Thanks for the well informed video. I used what you showed in your video to diagnose my 2005 Ford F350 6.0 that was having a hot start issue. It was not starting after getting up to operating temperature it would start cold fine and run fine however if I shut it down it would not restart. I used my Edge CTS to monitor the areas you showed. and the only thing was the icp pressure when hot was only getting to about 250psi. I did not test for air leaks because I was getting a code for the number 8 injector having a low circuit input so I started there. when I pulled it apart the top of the number 8 injector stayed attached to the high pressure oil rail.
Got a new idea to share... after changing the stand pipes n dummy plugs... i was waiting for parts to fininsh my job. I cleaned the KnN air filter and oiled it... 3 weeks later its together truck started ok after assembly. Went for a ride n it wouldnt start after. After goin through everything .... finally found the mass air sensor was coated thick with KnN oil... cleaned the mass air with brake clean and holy cow it runs again.
04 f350 6.0, cranks no start tho. If I jump it and let it charge for a few it'll start sometimes. It drives great once it's on but when I turn it off and try to start it it's a no go, sometimes if I wait it'll start but seems like batteries are really struggling. BTW Both batteries are brand new. I also get a low oil pressure when it's on and if I press the accelerator it'll go away sometimes it comes back
ron. iv been trying to trouble shoot issues with my truck and came arcoss your videos which are very informing! but the issue im having with my 2007 6.0 f250 is it starts a little rough in the mornings so i did a few fuel treatments change the fuel filters along with the oil. it did ok for a month or 2 then at one point it didnt want to start at all. i then checked the fuel filters again. they didnt look bad but changed them anyway along with checking the ficm and it seem alright so my last check was the egr. which was pretty dirty. so i clean it all up put it back together then it took about 15 cranks but was able to finally get it to start. alot of black smoke came out at the beginning. i drove it a round and let it idile for a little bit. then shut it off and started it agian it started right back up. the only thing is it start but when its a cold start i need to let it warm up for about 15 min. if not and i drive off before it will get to about 2k rpms and it will studder and i notice little puff of black smoke come out. my engine light is on which is how i came across this video. do you have any suggestions what could be the issue. or a in expansive code reader to figure out the problem? i like working on my truck but limited beacuae of tools. i just want too see if its something i can do myself or if its something like injector when i might have to take it in? thank you in advance!
go buy yourself a scan gauge II.. its the most inexpensive code reader / pid watcher. you can see everything you need on your truck for what its doing. what oil are you using? do you have the factory ford oil filter cap? it sounds like you have a few sticky injectors. what part of the country are you located in?
I actually just seen a video ron did on the obd2 blue tooth. I order one it should be in any day now. But i live in southern California. I was using castol magnatec 10 40 but the last couple times they didnt have enough to do a complete oils change so ive been using shell rottella 5 40. I my last oil change i used hot shot oil additive. Keep in mind it was already starting to act up. I did a fuel treatmet also and it seem to help a little bit but after i filled up again it seem to get worse. thinking its probably the injector too. Or in thinking th ficm. Even tho i checked it and it seem to be ok at 46. But iv also hear people say that ficm my test out ok but still be bad....
Very informative. My 07 f350 recently had very hard cold starts. Temps were near or below freezing. Experienced a few no starts and had to plug the truck in to get the block warm. However I later found that my ficm voltage would start off at 47 volts at key on, and then drop to 29 while running. Eventually going up to 47 again but would go back down to mid 30's as I accelerated. I've watched your videos for a while now. Helped me troubleshoot my truck.
Resealed injectors on a 6.0 all parameters are in tact but I still have a no start. 1476 hpop , icp .25, Ipr 14.76, ficm above 45. Did the ipr Air test no leaks.
Just bought an '04 last week , this week it's a crank no start . . . . just my luck ! My 1st ever 6.0. Can anyone give me a ball park figure on what to expect it to cost if it's a FICM . Last week it ran like a champ , had to crank a little longer than my 6.7 Ram does but hey , it fired up. Already blew my stash buying the truck so hoping it's not to bad ! Don't ya just love it ! LOL
Hello Ron I'm completely perplexed..I cleaned my egr and replaced the gasket and rings and now I got a crank and no start while throwing no codes. I would really appreciate any advice that you have.
Tell you what Ron your movies have made me a rock star at work. I'm 3-0 on no start 6.0s. I say that because it was all ways a shit show when these things got towed in we would throw all kinds of parts at it and waste all sorts of time. A fuel pump on one a FICM and a IPR valve. Thank you so much they are trying to call me the diesel guy now so keep them movies coming
Great video, I always learn something that is accurate, clear and concise about whatever problem I may be having. I currently wished I had this scan app cause right now my truck is back in the shop after just getting it back. Truck was getting lack of power after driving it a short while. I would let it sit and could manage to get it started and away I went for only a short while (talking minutes) and then it would get very rough idle and eventually cut out if attempting to accelerate. 2K the first time in shop for them to clean turbo, replace ICP sensor and clean off IPR valve. Also had them put in a half FICM and PCM that I had planned to put in at a later date.I could use some help with my issue!thanks,
Ron was a pioneer on RUclips to help guys tackle the tough experience of owning the 6.0 international and Fords 100k throw away trucks. He realized just how bad the trucks were and felt sorry for all of us. The measure of a true hero. May our lord let you work on his 6.0 Powerstroke. God bless May you Rest In Peace
Ron I have an 05 f350 I had a no oil psi it run and stall, the plug blew of the aluminum high psi pump, but know I have cam sensor codes and cranks sensor codes p0336 and 341 so I replaced sensors and twisted wires I still get cam and crank sensor codes as I crank I get sink good then sink no it starts and stalls heretic sink I rive it up off idle it runs good at idle it stalls and it starts at 1500 rpm I put it in gear it stalls even if engine is running great of idle, could the pump plug hit the gear and through cam of timing, I have no metal on oil filter. I already removed after market sensors and installed motor craft
hello thank you for the video, i have a 2004 f250 6.oL and im having the hot no start problem ,what is the first thing to look for? where can i get a program like that i have a samsung tablet that i can use

I'm new to diesel, and I've just learned a lot about the issue I'm dealing with.
Wish I could have thanked you.
Nice shirt though.
i admired you ron i love all your videos. u were so smart .RIP ron
I also get a low oil pressure when it's on and if I press the accelerator it'll go away sometimes it comes back
WE MISS YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND HELPFULL ATTITUDE. YOU MAY REST IN PEACE RON.
I love this guy. A almost cried when I found out.
ron. iv been trying to trouble shoot issues with my truck and came arcoss your videos which are very informing! but the issue im having with my 2007 6.0 f250 is it starts a little rough in the mornings so i did a few fuel treatments change the fuel filters along with the oil. it did ok for a month or 2 then at one point it didnt want to start at all. i then checked the fuel filters again. they didnt look bad but changed them anyway along with checking the ficm and it seem alright so my last check was the egr. which was pretty dirty. so i clean it all up put it back together then it took about 15 cranks but was able to finally get it to start. alot of black smoke came out at the beginning. i drove it a round and let it idile for a little bit. then shut it off and started it agian it started right back up. the only thing is it start but when its a cold start i need to let it warm up for about 15 min. if not and i drive off before it will get to about 2k rpms and it will studder and i notice little puff of black smoke come out. my engine light is on which is how i came across this video. do you have any suggestions what could be the issue. or a in expansive code reader to figure out the problem? i like working on my truck but limited beacuae of tools. i just want too see if its something i can do myself or if its something like injector when i might have to take it in? thank you in advance!
go buy yourself a scan gauge II.. its the most inexpensive code reader / pid watcher. you can see everything you need on your truck for what its doing. what oil are you using? do you have the factory ford oil filter cap? it sounds like you have a few sticky injectors. what part of the country are you located in?
Helped me troubleshoot my truck.
did you buy it from me?
thanks for your invaluable assistance . R.I.P.
Just a TOP LEFT video from a helpful man.
I love Ron's videos but eventually had to get rid of my 6.0 because of how many issues I was having with it. It was a money pit for sure.
God Bless Ron. Man I Miss him.
Resealed injectors on a 6.0 all parameters are in tact but I still have a no start. 1476 hpop , icp .25, Ipr 14.76, ficm above 45. Did the ipr Air test no leaks.
Great video i look at all your videos and try to learn from you guys. Thanks for taking your time!!
LOL
Diesel knowledge at it's best.
Yes learning a lot from your videos. At the moment I'm not able to donate , but looking forward to it in the future.
+jordan harms movies?????
shows videos recordings motion pictures what ever you want to call them
a ok
