That was nice of Bob Seger to help you install the windows

I think your building is built better than most houses out there. 👍🏼 But For the minimal cost of a tube of silicon($5.) which would’ve been enough to do all your windows. It’s basically would’ve been a second insurance. I plan to use both, tape and silicon on our build.

Thanks I appreciate it. The only reason I didn't use both was because the manufacturer said to use one or the other. I bought the caulk with the intention of using it but after double checking the manufacturers literature I opted not to. I agree that it would be extra insurance however I was nervous that if I did not install them how the literature said that I wouldn't get the lifetime warranty. Thanks for watching.

All of our trim will be black, but the roof will most likely be dark grey or black.

Do not nail slider windows along the top into the headers. as that header expands or shrinks it will interfere with how the slider works.

The windows were installed per the manufacturers instructions to retain the warranty.

The advice against fastening into the header is old and no longer relevant. When those instructions were given, lumber was being produced much greener (wetter) and the material would shrink and cause issues with the windows. Lumber is delivered much drier now and those issues have been resolved as a result. It is still important not to attach windows through the bottom flange, however, to allow for drainage when the window inevitably leaks.

OBVIOUSLY You NEVER watch Matt Risinger.
First of all Vinyl Windows will only last a little more than Aluminum Frame windows...
He and many others instruct on much better methods than what you used!
Installing the broken flanges voids the warranty and sets you up for leaks, you should have returned them.
Did you get a refund on the Telehandler Rental?
Are you allergic to doing the dishes???
Sorry you disappointed me this time brotha!

I love Matt Risinger, and would have loved to go with a really high quality window, but our budget really only allowed for vinyl. I watched pretty much all of his videos about installing windows before doing it, the only real difference I can think of is not caulking behind the window flange, but that was due to the manufacturers instructions. Also the cracks in the flange were only about half an inch so there was still plenty of flange to tape.
The lift ended up working again so we didn't need a refund on this one.
Sorry to disapoint in this one, we'll cover how we tpped the windows in the next video.
      Thanks for watching!
