We thought the ghost pepper candy was hot...It was absolutely not nearly as hot as this new Watermelon Carolina Reaper candy! It was easily the spiciest candy I've ever put in my mouth and probably one of the spiciest foods PERIOD, that I've ever put in my mouth! This batch was made for the Blazing Hot Foods company though, so as of right now we're not selling it. But if we received enough demand we could be convinced to carry this Watermelon Carolina Reaper candy as a regular item!

💑 About Hercules Candy
Hercules Candy has been on Steve’s side of the family since 1910(ish). When he took over in the 70’s, he anticipated after 10 years of hard work, he could move the business out of the basement and into a real storefront. Unfortunately, it took until 2018 for that to happen, but hey at least it happened! Steve and Terry own the shop, Craig (the social media manager) is their son, Cara (wrapper and shipper extraordinaire who is poised to take over the shop one day) is their daughter and Leah (who doesn’t love being on camera and is very elusive) is their oldest daughter. Karen has been working for Hercules Candy since the twins (Craig and Cara) were about 6 months old and everybody else is a new recruit. Don’t forget to subscribe and hit the 🔔 for more videos!

You should put one of these in bags of fruit & friendly and call it "Fruit Unfriendly"
Just call it last wish lol☠💩
We were actually already scheming about something like that! We were thinking of throwing it in a bag of watermelon hard candy so it all looks the same. It would be like candy roulette!
@@HerculesCandy That seems a bit unfair lol.
@Peaceful Pear haha don't worry, we would label it appropriately 😂
@@HerculesCandy I believe you too. Whoever is strong enough to cry I guess.🤷♀️🍬🤪🥵😵😭☠
Hey.... if you can send in some to Good Mythical Morning, Rhett and Link just LOVE spicy stuff.... watch their old episodes of when they have eaten spicy stuff... hilarious!
That would be a great idea!
What!? A gmm fan out in the wild!?
agreed
@@Dave-ip7hs Have been a Mythical Beast for quite a few years lol. Love me some Rhett and Link!
I'm surprised you guys haven't tried making mango with tajin-flavored hard candy. It would go good with a lot of the citrus favored candy you guys make.
We have actually! It's in our hot stuff mixed bag! www.herculescandy.com/products/hot-stuff-apple-hard-candy?_pos=1&_sid=909a9a9e8&_ss=r
@@HerculesCandy you should put one carolina reaper candy in those bags. just one.
@@andrasbakcomment thief!!
lofty pursuits made tajin candy
Make these in lemon lime flavor.. I need em for cold and allergy season. 😅
Reapers have a very sharp, almost acrid taste that in my experience doesn't naturally pair with sweet. It tends to work better towards dry rubs, jerky, and other savory things. Habanero peppers go very well with sweet. If you're going for heat, the Red Savina is one of, if not the hottest breed of habanero. It's a fruitier pepper, and I like to mix it with things like chicken, strawberries, and pineapple on a skewer with a honey glaze. It would probably make a great candy. Jalapenos for sure, I've had jalapeno jam, but it's too mild for my taste.
As a guy who grows and grinds his own chilli peppers I discovered the 3M masks with those filters on either side work really good at keeping the spice out of your nose lol
They are called respirators. Hubby said they should have been worn the whole time. He used to be an EMT & a Fire fighter. He was also a Correctional officer. He has seen hundreds of staff & inmates go into respiratory distress from just pepper spray which isn't remotely as hot as what they put in that candy. Some people even go into respiratory arrest from super hot peppers etc. That is why I have seen multiple Drs. on TV ask people to stop the hot sauce/ tik tok/ hot pepper challenges. I wouldn't have been able to go in the room without one of those white suits & a respirator. I can't barely handle the tiniest bit of jalapeno in my food. I have extra & heightened taste buds & smell. At least they all already knew how they reacted to spicy food so it was fun. The people who don't understand the Scovil scale are always in for nasty surprises. It's not a joke.
Glad they all fared well. 😊
I've been watching your videos since you were at the basement. I haven't tuned in for the last few months since I have been so busy with life. Watching this video, I can see just how HUGELY Cooper has improved in his candy making skills. Just the small movements seem so much more natural and confident. Well done, Cooper!
It just isn’t the same without Max
@@mrpig2780 Well, no, it's not. Max and Cooper are two different people. But that's not a bad thing! I love them both ❤
I was thinking the same thing. Practice makes perfect they say. 😊
You guys seem like such a cool and fun crew to work with. Wish most kitchens were this fun and involved. You all have a great job.
Nikki casually getting 8 rows on the candy cutter when the previous high score was 4... 🍉 🌶️
This
The Andreanos family are always up for trying new things! 👏🤩
When there's time 😂
....I love watching candy being made. It's just so....relaxing.
Nikki is genius with the chopper. ❤
The transition at 0:15 is so clean, love it
You guys seem to have so much fun. There is NO way I could try that candy, I'm super sentiment to spicy stuff. I just love the cat apron!! 😺
🐱 apron ftw
Need to do a lime wasabi candy. Wasabi has a fast but short burn.
I love wasabi crisps, I think they were poppadoms.
Really cool to see the process and environment with this sugar work. Great team dynamic.
Thanks Gary!
This looks like such a cool job especially with how nice everyone is. My biggest thing when starting a new job is the employees being kind and it's more of a family than co-workers. Thanks for sharing this!
I’ve heard salt takes the spice out. I once was at an olive oil store that offered tasting of oil. I had one of their oils infused with ghost pepper. I was a person that at the time not consuming dairy and they mentioned putting salt in the mouth it actually worked.
Very interesting!
Tajin is chile, salt and citric acid.
Yes, my husband is a professional chef but also is a genuine with chemistry and he told me this once with hot salsa... It really does help.
Love that you mentioned Toronto - free tours of the city if youre ever here! I find your channel makes me smile
CRAIG IN THE HOUSE!!🤗
I don’t eat pain 🔥 but to each their own! I just love watching candy being made ❤ HELLO new person 👋 Nicki
I don't eat pain 🤣
@@HerculesCandy is this for sale on the website?
Just watching them fold the candy is so relaxing. This looks like such a cool job.
Lovely seeing the fun! I'm Canadian so it warmed my heart to hear you talk about wanting to travel here❤
I appreciate the effort into making unique candy.
love the energy
I never normally like intros but yours is really good. Nice one
Real watermelon 🍉 sprinkled with Red Chile is absolutely delightful.
I imagine that chile with the watermelon candy would be just as good !!!
It's always great to see Craig in the videos. I miss him filming the videos.
It's good to be back!
long time viewer here wondering if you guys would make a mango and strawberry flavord candy or just strait mango candy
Love how you try the new flavors, but there are some people out there who really love that super hot stuff
Yay! Can’t wait to sit back and enjoy this!!🥰
Love watching you guys make candy! FYI milk cuts through that spice better than lemonade in my experience and I LOVE spicy foods. Idea...if you put some kind of humorous warning label on the boxes they'll probably sell faster. lol
While yes it does they are vegan and do not do animal products.
A spoon full of sugar does well too.
I love that somany young people want to learn this art. It's really cool to see this!
you guys are way funnier than other candy making channels. immediately subscribed
I can say this one is a great one for y'all you all should do more of these lol 🌹
Try adding this to chocolate. The cocoa butter in chocolate would help to temper the heat and being able to chew the chocolate helps the tongue heat bc you don’t have to spend time sucking on it. I think it would work great in a cream or a cluster
🔥WOW! 🔥You are all so brave to try the candy! I would never, ever, ever try anything hot! LOL Great Video as always! Miss Greg and Max Soooooooooo much! Love you all! ❤
I would be so tempted to just put one in a random box of non spicy candy and put a banner on the website saying "Russian roulette spicy candy promotion"...
Love Nikkei!!!!! 🎉 I want to see a whole challenge with her
the intro edit is way better than anything ive seen on this channel for years
You guys have come so far from your basement in your house.
Very cool seeing staff all learning delicious, old style candy making. This is how things are passed down & not lost to history.
I really enjoy watching your channel on RUclips. You guys are so full of personality from mom dad and your children to the staff it’s too bad. Shipping cost are so high from New York to where I live, I could certainly would enjoy some of your candy! my wife really likes super sour candy so I tried to order some from you guys, but the US post office wants more to ship it to Arizona than what the candy prices are But regardless, your show is fantastic and I look forward to watching more. I am a subscriber.
Coopers scared animals on his apron says it all!
Now this is just genius! I’ve learned to do it thanks to you guys! Keep em coming!
if lemonade helps should sell them with a lemon candy as like 'Fire x Extinguisher' or even wrap it around a lemon/citrus candy core so its spicy on the outside but if you get through it can get some relief.
Nicky is the real trooper here for wanting to try them all. I love spicy food, but I don't think id try them all. Id try the candy, but nothing else. I would think the candy would be more calmer than the Death Nut! But I will say all peanuts are Death Nuts for me. lol Im allergic.
Wow! Now that's ambitious. Speaking as someone who orders Thai food 10x extra hot, I say well done!
Well then that means a lot coming from you!
ordering THAI 10x hot is literally insanity.
i order thai 30x. but to each their own.
the death nut challenge is no joke. i love my spicy stuff, but that stuff made me call off of work the next day
I'd love to try that candy!
Hey! I'm watching from Ontario!!!! I'm between Toronto and Ottawa.
Please make more of this. My best friend loves this kind of stuff. I went to order it from the website, and you are all sold out. By any chance do you have any in the store? I work about three mins from you guys
I would actually order this.
Though to show its ACTUALLY hot it does need to be a character candy, with a flame or a pepper in the center.
Idk why but Steve sneezing into the trash can cracked me up SO much.
Oh my gosh, WHAT?!? Are these available for order by chance??? Reaper Candy sounds absolutely phenomenal.
The red section on the table reminds me of the original The Blob. Exact same color
should do a new candy line and call it Lava Fruit or fruity fire and put on each bag what flavor each one is like id do cherry ,watermelon and strawberry and i would atleast do lemon blueraspberry orange as well and give out atleast free sample of each flaver and get your customers feed back on which flavors they liked the best and go from there and id def do free samples just make them smaller then the actual size but big enough so they can get a decent taste of it since not everyone likes hot candy now me i wouldnt try it cause i like my candy to be sweet and sour
I REALLY want some! Will it be available online? Will you make it again?
OMG I wish I could afford to buy this candy..My dad use to work at a candy factory years ago and I am 68 yrs old now...Loved going to where my dad worked to watch how they made candies,,,
The look on Steve's face at 25:02 is priceless!! That's your screenshot for future laughs lol.
i got it in the mail today! these are so good! thank you for making them guys.
I must've watched 50 of your vids this past month... now I just made my first order (was waiting for the Fruit and Friendly 8oz to be back lol)
Can't wait for my candy to arrive!!
I went back to the start, did 50 a month until I caught up, great way to see the company and family grow.
3:10 thanks for wearing PPE 👍🏻
I've been asking for this to be made a few years back im happy it's been done finslly
I am watching currently so maybe you will answer this question before it ends...but I'm guessing the heat from the hot sugar brings out the heat from the reaper more? When I've cooked with hot peppers it seems the high temps elevate the spice level quite a bit
Just to remind that heat destroys capsaicin. Ever try those Asian chili oils that were not very hot, the chili is aded to the hot oil destroying much of the capsaicin. Temperature control when the powder is added will determine consistency.
Holy cow! That was A LOT of pepper powder!! I'm surprised you weren't all coughing and sneezing just from the steam off it it. I start coughing and sneezing just from putting a jalapeño into the stir-fry.
You should do peach with pepper x powder
I liked the Hawaii 5'O style fade in!
This was so much fun to watch ❤
for me I fun too😅😅
Been a while since I've watched you guys. Love how the family and business has grown.
you've got to make Carolina Rebar Candy next
The one thing that made me click on this is the space you used in the title. I had to scroll back because it looked different. So glad I did.
Watching you guys have fun makes me so happy but also gives me fomo.
me too sister😊😊😊
im with Cooper on this one , lol and its nice seeing Graig
My absolute favorite pepper ! as a candy omg I want a bag or two. Looks great guys 🙂.
Can’t wait for them to be back in stock, need to get some for my brother
Mexican watermelon candy is not crazy spicy, is very mild it has citric acid... the combo of both flavors is awesome.
We've made watermelon tajín hard candy before!
i just watched this for the tenth time, and i realized the you could make an after challenge mint made with citric acid to kill the burn ,ie an after chili candy, each death nut box could come with one for an after challenge heat stopper mint
You should make fruity pebbles with white chocolate and take ruby chocolate over the top
Greatest crew ever!
You need to send some of these to Brian Ambs on RUclips and add a ton of powder! He tries all things spicy foods!
You should send a bag to Johnny Scoville. He reviews spicy snacks and can bring you new subscribers/customers.
Interesting, thanks for the idea!
And another bag to Smokin Ed over at Puckerbutt Pepper Company for making the Carolina Reaper so we could all enjoy it
Steve’s face was priceless lol
Do the “one candy challenge “ to kick it up a notch, toss the finished candy in more of the powder!
I grow, dehydrate, and grind up my ghost, peppers, habaneros, reapers, etc. and I use the powder not only in savory foods, but in brittles and other types of candy and cookies
Oh hey you guys are located in one of the towns one of the potential colleges I may go to! Whenever I do college visits for the northeast I’ll make sure to check you guys out :)
Literally over here sneezing just from watching you guys fold the powder into the candy 🤣
Apparently our smell-o-vision is finally working!
@@HerculesCandy I'll alert the press! This is huge!!! 😆
you could make a hot chilli candy with a center of citric acid to kill the burn after, i.e. you suck the chilli layer off to reach the citric acid core ie a hot candy with a built in cure
these beautiful people shows how family should act
👀 🔥 id love to try these
I've always thought you guys were hot stuff. Montana watching from Arizona 😁
Enjoy the warmth!
I know a gal that makes pepper jelly, she made an orange reaper a couple years back that was exquisite
You guys are great thank you
you should make spicy tamarind flavor, it's really popular in Mexico
I would not be able to eat this. I can't do spicy. Yes, watermelon/green apple! Those are my two favorite flavors, too!!
I've GOT to get my hands on some of this!!!
the way the hammer gets it off the hook is so cool haha
The old man's is so dam funny and his people.just don't get his hummer love the guy he makes the show
That is Steve.
Thus was a very cool and interesting process to watch. Looks like a fun place to work.
I grew some Carolina Reaper 2 years ago. Tried some. Never again. I have some oil with a few peppers in it. one drop in any dish is more than enough.
You should have a look at the Chase The Heat YT channel with Johnny Scoville of Blazing Foods. He and the staff there try all kinds of peppers, sauces, tinctures etc. As Johnny always says "Get on the bus". It is a great channel.
