Very cool Gary. Making one of something is relatively simple, making two of something to look nearly the same is quite difficult. You pulled it off beautifully. I'm sure your friends are going to love it!

Good evening, Gary. Making a copy of a previous turning must have been fun. Making the copy for a friend, priceless. Walnut for the win. Excellent video. Ray
Thank you Ray and it was a lot of fun. Almost felt like I was back working.(I consider that fun because I loved my job) I am sure they will love it. Thanks for watching my friend, Gary
Gary, another terrific bowl! I really like the natural divot on the rim. I haven’t turned such a large piece and you make it look easy. I’ll keep practicing and enjoying the videos that you present.
Thank you Skip. That was my favorite feature on it. I think it is just a matter of trying a larger one and you will get used to it. I turned a massive 6 foot diameter turning that was going to be a plug for making fiberglass spa's. That makes you slow down and plan your cuts. When I went to another pattern shop I turned a large ring that was 8 foot but not as massive over all. I kind of miss working. But not that much LOL Gary
A wonderful looking gift and superbly crafted for your friends Gary , and I'm sure you enjoyed those baby backs mate ...firing my grill up tomorrow.😀Cheers mate and take care Bram

Beautiful piece, just like the other half. In my opinion this one is the nicer of the two. I just like the grains in this one a little more than the 1st one. Not knocking the 1st one at all. Both are beautiful.
Thank you John. I agree with you. We never know till we are done. But this one must go to our friends. Might have to box it up when my wife is not looking 😢😂👍
Really nice Gary! I really like the turned edge bowls. Live edge is nice, but those are beautiful and timeless. Great finish. You have a great eye for getting the most out of a log.

Wow Gary, what an incredible piece. You really brought out the beauty in that chunk of wood with not just one but two gorgeous bowls or plates/platters, whichever you’d refer to them as. I have been a subscriber to your channel for many years and you have been a big inspiration for my own woodturning. Even though I’ve been turning for the better part of 15 years now I am still constantly learning from you. Thank you for sharing your videos.
Great job of making mirror images. Loved that you pointed out all of the matching feature. Really cool. Despite the temp, baby backs on the grill and bowl turning n the shop sounds like a great way to spend a day! Well she likes it a lot but as I said in the video this will be going to Indiana. I good friends moved there and this piece is from their tree that had to be cut down. But we will have the twin to it which will be cool.
Hi Gary, that is a very cool project, I have cut a piece in two and turned one side as a live edge and the other normally but never tried to do a mirror image, very cool. thanks!
Thank you Mike. I normally will do one live and one as a round bowl to compare. Just thought I would give this a go. Kind of like the idea and will do it again on the right piece. Thanks for watching, Gary
I think it's a shame separating those two bowls. They should be displayed side by side. They're art. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
If you turn the second one with the rot side down and look at it there is a wonderful seal in the middle of the bowel. Blessings Gary both are stunning
Thank you Wade. So a seal on the inside of the bowl after turning or before? I need to see that sean now. Darn things used to try and steal our salmon off the lines LOL Thanks for watching, Gary
Thank you Terry. They were great. I did two racks for ribs yesterday for my wife's birthday party. Plus some fried chicken. Went over well. Thanks for watching, Gary
That’s some beautiful grain! I just posted my own video of mirror image bowls I gave to a friend! Great minds think alike 😁. Super jealous that your temperature was 64 degrees in the morning. The LOW temp in my shop is 92…. Makes for a very draining day.
Thank you Jim. I may have to do this again on a very special piece of wood. Kind of like bookmatching a guitar back. We are in for cool weather for a few days then back to some hot days but not like they were. Thanks for watching, Gary
Well if your friends isn't pleased with i'll go to the foot of our stairs, great job Gary, can't believe how close they are even 2 inches i thought would of made a bigger difference did i mention great job and great finish again. All the best from Lincolnshire UK
Looks great! Your ribs made me think of grilling something myself. Then I went outside and said, Nope! Yep, it is blazing hot time. Haha. Much cooler than last summer and Fall is coming. I always enjoy your videos. I think I missed commenting on the one before this. I had three of my granddaughters come over and grandpa always has to go play when that happens. They are just so darn cute. Haha. So, you lost out to kids, but I will be around to bug you plenty. Thanks for the fun. Take care in your summer heat.
Thanks so much Travis. I did 2 racks of ribs yesterday. We had our kids and and grandkids over for a birthday party for my wife. We got chased inside by one heck of a thunder and rain storm. But it was still lots of fun. Feel free to drop in and bug me anytime you like LOL Gary
I like the second one even more than the first! They make a great pair, but I also like the idea of gifting one to your friends; it's like one of those friendship necklaces, but with bowls!
Thank you Johnny. Well my wife likes the second one better as well. I will be giving them a link to the video so they will now I swapped them out LOL. So no they are getting this one for sure. Thanks for watching, Gary
I'm so sorry I do have a question, as I'm low income but LOVE the look and future durability of this. What would the 'guessed/approx' cost of a kitchen table made from such wood turning? I would find/supply the chairs but for the table itself which would be the main item to behold, i'm curious about. thank you in advance for your time and knowledge.
@Kisharha I'm not sure what you're asking here- you want a kitchen table made with a turned top? That would be extremely difficult, as you would need a very, very large piece of wood for it, and also a lathe large enough to turn something so big. It would be incredibly expensive to have made. If you just mean a round table, that is much easier to make by joining boards together and cutting them round. The cost there would vary depending on the wood type, overall size, and the maker's fees.
Thank You Gary... Very cool, a mirror image turning.. (i am late, busy morning)...I think I beat you on the heat (101) BUT you totally beat me on the "Baby Back Ribs" OH YEA!!!... I guess it is more or less carefree turning one piece but quite another thing trying to match it turning another?...I like that classic old hand drill you use for sanding or does it just look old?... I would guess that can be a predicament when having beautiful grain but still have more to take off. Just hoping to not loose that grain in the process? a bit of a gamble?... That is a very nice match turning. Walnut grain did not disappoint (Walnut seldom does) Nice work Gary ... Until next time... TM On a side note. I know you are a retired manual Pattern Maker. I saw this RUclips show on pattern makers hand planes. I thought you might be interested? WoodByWright ruclips.net/video/2ZE1Vxw2JPU/видео.html
Thank you TM. It was not bad matching the shape. Had to make many things that matched the drawings at work. The grain was another story. It did look pretty close though. It worked out pretty good I think. That drill is something I bought at Harbor Freight 5 or 6 year ago, Reminds me of the cars from the 40's Thanks for watching, Gary
Gary, I'm having trouble removing a tenon from the back of a 16" walnut platter that I glued on with a hot glue gun. Did I understand you say it will be released with denatured alcohol?
Hi John, Yes DNA will release it easily. Did you put any under the tenon? If so that can be an issue. I only put it around the outside. Make sure you let the denatured alcohol seam under the hot glue and it sit for 15 minutes. If that does not work you can heat it with a hot gun. But if you did put it under it will take awhile to heat up. Let me know how it goes. Gary

Gary
@@ThePapa1947 Yuppers, you betcha! 😁
Really nice couple of “bookends” matching set Gary. Stay safe
Thank you very much.
Take care my friend,
Gary
The platters are absolutely gorgeous! What a wonderful keepsake for friends...
Thank you Carol. As soon as I find a box I will ship it. I kind of like to keep something for a week before giving it away.
I spend a lot of time making it and that is not the same as having it sit on my desk and look at all the beauty.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Good job 😊
Thank you so much Josephine I appreciate you watching,
Gary
Beautiful twins. Congratulations.
Thanks Khan!
That is a phenomenal bowl you made!!! Such skill.
Thank you Michael I appreciate your comments,
Gary
Again great work,love the grain
Thanks so much Pierre I appreciate you watching,
Gary
Add one more nice wood turning to the wife's shelves. Nice one Gary!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Well she likes it a lot but as I said in the video this will be going to Indiana. I good friends moved there and this piece is from their tree that had to be cut down. But we will have the twin to it which will be cool.
Another beauty Gary.
Take care my friend.
Hwyl, Huw
Thanks buddy happy you liked it.
Gary
Hi Gary, that is a very cool project, I have cut a piece in two and turned one side as a live edge and the other normally but never tried to do a mirror image, very cool. thanks!
Thank you Mike. I normally will do one live and one as a round bowl to compare. Just thought I would give this a go. Kind of like the idea and will do it again on the right piece.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
@@ThePapa1947thanks Gary. Next time I get an interesting piece I'll send you half and we can compare turnings 😊
Both bowls are beautiful, Gary. You are a great friend!
Thanks so much Crystal I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Gary
Those are beautiful bowls Gary, and a beautiful idea to share!!
Thanks Laura they are very special.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Beautiful !
Thank you very much Monica I appreciate you watching and commenting,
Gary
Beautiful set of twins! I think I like the bottom of today’s bowl even better than the last one. I’m sure your friends will be thrilled!
Thank you very. My wife likes this one better as well, I think I like it better for some reasons.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Really nice. Easily beats any resin piece.
Thanks so much I appreciate your comment.
Gary
I think it's a shame separating those two bowls. They should be displayed side by side. They're art. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Thanks Glen! Well that was a thought But it will be very special that they get this one.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
If you turn the second one with the rot side down and look at it there is a wonderful seal in the middle of the bowel. Blessings Gary both are stunning
Thank you Wade. So a seal on the inside of the bowl after turning or before? I need to see that sean now.
Darn things used to try and steal our salmon off the lines LOL
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Beautiful Gary. You did a great job “mirroring” it with the other. 😊😊
Thanks Rob. Works the same as book matching a guitar back. Except when you cut 2 inches into it. But it is still very close.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Beautiful work! How were the ribs?
Thank you Terry. They were great.
I did two racks for ribs yesterday for my wife's birthday party. Plus some fried chicken. Went over well.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Beautiful bowls/patters Gary!
Thank you very much David!
Gary
That’s some beautiful grain! I just posted my own video of mirror image bowls I gave to a friend! Great minds think alike 😁. Super jealous that your temperature was 64 degrees in the morning. The LOW temp in my shop is 92…. Makes for a very draining day.
Thank you Jim. I may have to do this again on a very special piece of wood. Kind of like bookmatching a guitar back.
We are in for cool weather for a few days then back to some hot days but not like they were.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
@ThePapa1947 its gonna be 110 today and it's already 103 at 9am 🫠 it's tough to get motivated with those numbers. I need to get AC in my garage
Well if your friends isn't pleased with i'll go to the foot of our stairs, great job Gary, can't believe how close they are even 2 inches i thought would of made a bigger difference did i mention great job and great finish again. All the best from Lincolnshire UK
Thank you Gary. Yes they were closer than I thought they would be. That crack was definitely very close to the same.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Feel free to drop in and bug me anytime you like LOL
Gary
I think this one came out better than the first one, but thatsust me. They both look nice though.
Thank you Tim and I believe you are right. My wife thinks the same.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
I like the second one even more than the first! They make a great pair, but I also like the idea of gifting one to your friends; it's like one of those friendship necklaces, but with bowls!
Thank you Johnny. Well my wife likes the second one better as well. I will be giving them a link to the video so they will now I swapped them out LOL. So no they are getting this one for sure.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
@@ThePapa1947 I'd be so tickled and happy to get these, your friends/neighbors must love it!
@@Kisharha a table would take a lot of wood and could take days to make.
I made a round oak table 50 years ago. Was a lot of work.
TM
On a side note.
That drill is something I bought at Harbor Freight 5 or 6 year ago, Reminds me of the cars from the 40's
Thanks for watching,
Gary
The time you spend sanding really shows.
Thanks so much. It is one of the most important steps in a good finish.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Too cool for school
Thanks Dave happy you liked it.
Take care,
Gary
I will wait for your next video, thank you
Sure thing...thanks
Здравствуйте, Гэри! Близнецы очень хороши, спасибо!
Большое спасибо, мой друг!
cool
Thank you Tim I appreciate you watching and commenting,

Gary, I'm having trouble removing a tenon from the back of a 16" walnut platter that I glued on with a hot glue gun. Did I understand you say it will be released with denatured alcohol?
Hi John,
Yes DNA will release it easily.
Gary
