    I woke up 8 months ago with drop foot on the right side, numb toes on the right foot, lost knee jerk reflex on my left leg, trick knee on my left leg, unable to do leg lifts or push up on left leg.
    I had 111 different blood tests done, X-rays, MRIs, brain scans, Nerve conductivity studies, EKGs...I have seen dozen doctors and specialists. No diagnosis yet...not even close. I assume I had nerve damage caused by my autoimmune system. Apparently my nerves are not growing back, as I feel just as bad today as I felt on the day this started. By the way, I am fine from my waist up. I will share this video with all the "doctors" and "specialists" I have wasted my time with.

    hi Dr Yeganeh
    Thank you very much for your great explanation.
    I got a sequestered L5-S1 disk herniation pinching on S1 nerve indicated by NRI about 6 weeks ago. it started with extreme pain in my right lower back area which I had to lay down to tolerate. After a week I got numbness in my right foot thigh and calf all the way to my little toe and right side of my foot and then progressed to the ankle along with weakness where I could not stand on my ball of foot. three weeks ago I had epidural injection which improved my pain and now I can tolerate much better walking and standing. however, my numbness and weakness has not improved. I have had numbness in my right thigh as well which I realized about 10 days ago (it could have been there longer without my notice). I wanted to know if improvement on pain and more mobility is a good sign that my numbness and weakness may improve over time and I should wait longer before deciding to do microdisectomy. I am thinking to wait for another 2 to 3 weeks to see if numbness and weakness is improving otherwise considering the surgery to avoid permanent nerve damage. thank you very much

    Wow this was the most informative and so easy to understand thank you!! Sounds silly, but I kept mixing up the difference between nerves and veins....During Tennis, I had a calf muscle Injury 😢 and then the calf muscle tear started to heal. But, now a new pain emerged, it goes down my leg, and is a persistent sharp pain Causing numbing in the foot, and a slight limp... I can't figure out if it's sciatica or if it's a pinched nerve. I'm trying to make an appointment, it's already been 1 month.

    Both my hands last three fingers felt like electric 24/7 for the past few weeks while i was waiting for Dr appointment. Last week the symptoms changed and now the electric has ceased and they feel like having rubbed sandpaper. The doc diagnosed as compression in the cervical neck but unable to tell me if getting better or getting worse. In your experience, does neck compression also cause my sides/flanks to have squeezing feeling? The Doc i saw just doesnt seem inspire confidence. All that happened was i fell asleep at my desk and woke up with these issues.

    Hello Dr. I had a autograft jacket fitted for the hernia in my lower leg. The surgeon said there was a complication and the peripheral nerve had a split which had to be repaired. Since my operation I have had all the symptoms of nerve damage and have been told by the surgeon that only time will tell how much numbness I will be left with. Should I see a nerve specialist in the meantime to determine how much damage was done to the nerve?
    What is the best course of action?
    I would really appreciate your reply

    Just had a microdiscectomy performed 2 weeks ago after herniating a disk in the L2-L3 area. After 2 months of living in pain, burning and numbing sensation I pulled the trigger and opted for the surgery after trying 2 epidural shots; they provided no benefits for me. After listening to you I'm praying for that 3-6 week mark you pointed out. Again I'm 2 weeks into my recovery and I know that the nerve was irritated after the Dr went in and moved things around and cut out the fragments. Fingers crossed.

      I had mine a week ago. Double laminectomy on l4/l5. Both legs were shot. My left leg is already coming back (which is funny since it was starting to go bad almost 2 years ago). The right leg was only 2 months ago and it was abrupt like I severed a nerve lol. My calves and glute. It is partially better. I started r-alpha lipoic acid yesterday. I stopped my gabapentin last night. My numbness in my feet is down 50% from yesterday even. Not sure if it is the r-alpha (I also took b1, b9, b12 with it) but I feel so much better as far as numbness. I have not had any pain during or after surgery other than when something hits the stitched area or I twist accidentally - that's to be expected lol. It's remarkable.

    Went to my prim care doc about my hand and arms tingling, numb, pain. 1st she prescribed prednisone to see if if would go away and then come back. I felt that was a total waist of time. It did go away for a very short time period and come back and the effects of prednisone are horrible for me. Then she recommended an MRI. But even with ins they quoted me $800. Could not do it, hence why I'm still suffering. And it's getting worse. I get almost no sleep because it's 10 times worse in bed at night.
    Any recommendations??

    After one year of the S1 nerve root compression from a herniated disc, then a microdiscectomy to decompress the nerve root, how long should a person expect it take for the nerve burning in feet to subside?

    Hi Dr,
    Thank you for your excellent explanation!
    After the nerve injury ( cutting off my median nerve on the base of my thumb)
    How long the neuroma can be formed?
    Thanks again Dr.

    • @christianholt6266
      @christianholt6266 6 месяцев назад +1

      It can take as little as a few days for a neuroma to begin to form depending on the type of injury and location of the wound. They are also most common on the feet and hands and tend to form fastest there.

      @@christianholt6266 Thank you for your response. I had a surgery (nerve graft)5 months ago and I had no pain on my thumb but it is very sensitive and I have electric shock ⚡️ when my thumb (nerve graft) is contact with anything. It’s horrible feeling. Is it normal??
      Thank you!

    • @christianholt6266
      @christianholt6266 6 месяцев назад

      @@rocioguarniz5186 At 5 months the healing process is far from finished and sensitivity should be expected. Once you are closer to the 1-2 year mark if it is still sensitive that would not be considered an optimal outcome but could be due to a variety of factors like your body rejecting the graph, a graph failure, your body simply not regenerating the nerve in the expected fashion etc.
      The fact you have no pain is strange as that is the first sensation that should return. Either you're lucky or it could denote a failed graph if you do not regain any other forms of sensation to that part of your thumb by that same 1-2 year mark.

      What I heard is that there are two types of nerves graft one is a membrane covering the nerve graft and the second one is with out the membrane. The one I had was the second one NO membrane. Can be the reason why I have the electric Shots when my thumb is contact With anything ?
      Thank you so much Doctor!

    hi! my tibial nerve was damaged and it healed badly. The result I can't stand on tip toes on one leg and calf muscle atrophied. I did ultra sound and electric test that showed the problem is a part of the nerve behind knee. The nerve changed and signal there become weak. Theoretically, could a nerve transplant improve my condition? Is there anything that could make my leg stronger?

    A nurse hit a nerve while placing an IV in my arm I have a pain that shoots down my arm to my thumb they told me it would go away but it is getting worse. As soon as they picked me I felt the pain and let them know. They kept the IV in should they have removed it? What can I do to improve the function in my arm/hand. Its numb and and painful. How do I know if the nerve was just bursed or if its cut?

      If you take care of diabetes, than neuropathic pain that it caused will go away. Always treat the root cause first, then the symptoms. Opposite what they do in ER.
