  • Most things can be fixed, here’s an easy fix for a garden sprayer. So often the seals get stuck and the valve needs to be cleaned and lubricated. Rather than just throw it out and get another one you’ll be surprised how easy it is to fix. In fact next time you see garden sprayer in the trash you’ll probably wanna snag it and fix it. It’s easy

    My older brother, the wizard, borrowed my Stanley metal garden sprayer (a real nice sprayer). He used it to spray sealer on his cement driveway. Before giving it to him, I told him to be sure and rinse it out throughly when he was done with it, and he confirmed my request. Well, I picked it up a week later, and asked him, did you rinse it out, he said yes I did. When I next used it, it was plugged solid. I then found out that he only rinsed out the tank and not the hose, or nozzle. You can't fix stupid.

      I loaned my $600 airless paint sprayer to a "friend". I explained everything about use and cleaning. A year later, he drove up, ran to the door, set the sprayer down on the porch, and ran back to his car and sped off. Sprayer completely full of rock-hard paint. Who's the idiot? ME! I now have a contract for people to sign before I loan anything. It begins by detailing each item I've loaned out that was stolen or destroyed over the years. Total loss estimated at $2,500. They have to provide a security deposit sufficient to replace the item, and I am the only person who can decided if the item is returned in acceptable shape. There's also a time limit and fines for late return. So far, no one wants to borrow anything from me anymore.

    The spring was stuck on the knob, or maybe because I had it in lock position. I can't say for sure what happened or why, but while I was unscrewing the knob, I heard noises. I thought that wasn't normal, but I kept unscrewing. Finally I could see that the spring was all rusted and loose. I tried to be careful but eventually the spring broke.
    I guess I have to get a new spray handle section.
    The video was very good and informational about how to deal with cleaning this part up though.

    I think folks that spray chemicals for killing insects and stuff should wear gloves when doing this.

    Could this be what is causing my sprayer to leak at the handle. When I release to spray, liquid begins dripping on my hands. It’s brand new as well.

      Same as mine. It started leaking after it's second use.

      Mine leaked until I tightened the connection at the handle. You need to check all the parts that can be tightened.

    can you use vasoline?

    • @livefree6878
      @livefree6878  2 года назад +1

      It for sure will work temporally. Vaseline is oil based and will break down the seal. I know it’s a real pain to find silicone grease. Sometimes you can find it in the plumbing department at like Home Depot. Unfortunately silicon grease is a necessity on a lot of things. Silicon grease will not break down plastic or rubber. I hope this answers your question

      At your nearest Auto Parts Store there'll be something called dielectric or water-proof grease - it's the exact same thing and I just fixed the air pump section (with the one way rubber valve piece and large O-ring) and the handle valve on my garden sprayer.
