So glad I ran into your channel, this is one of the best reviews of a laptop I've seen in a while! I had a couple of questions, one about the description: The link to the 32GB RAM upgrade is for 2 sticks of 16 GB. Is this correct, or should I only buy one stick since the laptop comes with 16GB of RAM already installed? Secondly, as a film student, I'd be using this heavily for video editing and multitasking, but how much do you think I could rely on it if I took it to a 75+ minute class? I'm a bit worried about its reliability after 6-12 months of daily use (your battery life test was so helpful, by the way!). My 2-year-old laptop's battery life is pretty close to this one.
Thanks for the kind words! The Laptop comes with two 8gb sticks so you will need two 16gb sticks. I know.. annoying but worth it. The links I provided are to the exact ones I bought. I actually did create a battery test: ruclips.net/video/9fRwx9pOnII/видео.html If you are wokring on video the entirety of the class, you probably won't get 75m since that is when the computer is running at a high performance mode. However, if it's for notes and etc.. you will be ok on battery saver mode. Also, if you have an outlet nearby, you will be good. Hope this helps. Let met know if you have any other questions!
Yes! Aside from battery life, I bet you will love it. I have no complaints coming from the direction of a video editor. The OLED is a huge deal for me. Best of luck! I'd love to see some of your work!
Hey man, Thank you so much for taking the time to discuss this laptop. I felt immediately drawn in once you said you were considering the MSI stealth (gs66) as well as the ASUS rog Zephyrus m15, as those are the 2 I have been considering. I am a product designer, my main goals for buying this next laptop are for it to perform well under heavy CPU loads for 3D rendering using tools like Rhino, 3Dmax etc, as well as the adobe suite. I like the design of the stealth over the omen. But maybe you can give me your thoughts? Trying to keep the price around 1500$ and have this laptop be my workhorse for the next 7 ish years if i can make it. how much do the lack of build quality here with the Omen, as well as battery life deter you?
I am happy this helps and appreciate your comment! First, the stealth has an excellent build quality but the Omen does too. Intact, I bet you'll fall in love with it even. The flex issues with the omen really aren't that to be afraid of since it does not show any sign of fault under long use. The issue I have with mine in particular is the battery life though it also depends on the model you buy.
@@StevenRamonFilms Thanks for your response! I checked out the laptops at best buy yesterday and I do like the Omen, but of course the floppy screen is a little bit nerve inducing. Have you had any issues with it? not that you've really dropped it but.
Glad you checked them out! I haven't had any issues with it. I've grown to realize it is just part of the design and I do believe it will last a really long and promising time as long as you take care of it. I've left a link in the description if you would like to buy one through there. It kicks back a small commission for my referral and it would be most appreciated! Otherwise, no worries at all. Take your time and find what's right for you. I think you're going to love this computer.
Hey man! Just subscribed! Great video! About to buy this laptop actually. Had some questions though 1. Is the display bright? Like can you use it outside? Or too much glare, too dim, etc? 2. How are the fans? Really loud? I know they’re going to be loud for gaming and whatnot but I’ve heard some are almost too much. 3. How is the cooling and can you manually turn on and off the fans? I’ve heard cooling is great from reviews but not much about how loud it is and how controllable the fan speed is. 4. Does it lag at all? Or do you recommend getting a newer computer with the 3000 series. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment! 1. The display does get pretty bright. You can use it outside. 2. Fans are quiet until you perform some really intensive tasks at which they really wind up but if you have the Omen software open, you can see it is because the Temps get pretty hot so the airflow cools it down fast. You can also adjust max speeds. 4. Lag? During what application? Even through high graphic games, this thing has no noticeable lag for me. I use it mostly for video and photography content creation and it handles premiere and lightroom with a breeze! Let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions!
I guess the screen which is draining your battery fast. Since you are the first one who reviewing 4K omen. Other reviewer didnt mention the battery drain.
@@StevenRamonFilms They do have a so called "anti-glare" technology maybe that's what they're referring to, which they've implemented in the Spectre x360 15 and higher end cpus. Though it doesnt remove the glare completely it minimizes it. Edit: Great video by the way. been looking for review on the higher end HP Omen 15 to compare the flex with the lower specs model, which i have.
@@Brian-m9v Perhaps! Honestly, I don't really notice any glare and I work with lights all around me. I can't recall a time I noticed one. I appreciate your kind words. I'm happy you enjoyed it!
Yes. It all depends on what you need it for. In my case, I'm not much of a gamer (aside from LOL) so I primarily use it for video editing and lightroom.
the big question, will it run fs 2020 - pleased to say, yes, with high settings 60 plus, 35 to 40 even at JFK though don't go nuts with traffic, thermals 60s to 70s, seldom abov
loved the review, one thing is distracting me waching you and that's the lighting.. please use some soft lights, i can see how hard is it for you to look at the camera that makes us even difficult to watch you.. cheers!
I was worried about this but no. Nothing yet after over 6 months of usage. I think I read something about these newer oled panels to have prevention in place to protect it too.
Man this laptop sure is amazing. I've got the one with RTX 2060, with a numpad, and a 60hz refresh rate (144hz wasn't available) and it outperforms any laptop in this price range (Rs 1,15,000, I'm from India so mind the price gap). The thermals on this machine very good, the fans are quite noisy but still keeps your laptop very cool. To all those who are going through a difficult decision on which laptop to buy, be it for gaming or content creation, I say check out HP Omen 15 eu0042tx on Reliance Digital Online. And I must say, this guy's video is just awesome. Keep it up man, Imma subscribe your channel.

Hi, I like to travel and I like to play. But I would be afraid of this laptop when traveling. Do you know any tip for a laptop with rtx2060, 16gb ram, i7 with a good cooling system?
I just got this model myself, it should arrive today. But I'm a little concerned about dealing with such a low battery, even with a stay-at-home lifestyle, it might be nice to get more than a couple hours of light usage (since I'd want to do work on this, not just gaming). So, I might end up going for the Ryzen version so I'm not married to the charger.
Steven Ramon Films I’d be concerned about that since the screen flex if it was plastic that would be ok but glass , where did you even get this I haven’t seen 4K screen anywheee ?
@pranay and @nuvo there's definitely a small but sturdy buffer between the back panel and glass. I feel confident the screen will be fine. The flex seems a little worse on camera. I bought this from Best Buy. Direct link is in the description.
You can definitely drop your resolution, but I don't think it would make much of a difference in battery life since each pixel is still being lit. However this would also mean the gpu would be working a bit less hard on processing them individually. In terms of gaming though, yea this would be a good idea for the AAA titles but I'd still give it a shot in 4k with these specs!
What would you choose Acer Nitro 5 2020, Acer Helios 300 or this Hp Omen 15 2020. Really nice video by the way, would appreciate you answering my question 😁
I think the HP Omen looks more sleek and less flashy. Also, it depends on what you need it for? The 4k AMOLED blows the others out of the game in my opinion especially when it comea to video and photography editing. Hope this helps!
Haha yeah but at night, it becomes too bright for my preference. Using the screen at a dimmed level makes the keys really stand out at white. Anyways, thanks your input!
"And out of nowhere this showed up" No kidding. I searched these specs for weeks and only found this by accident on #BestBuy. And then #RUclips put your vid on my 'suggested' list _today_ after _weeks_ of searching for data on the model itself. What the hell happened to search?
Good video man really like it, quick question I saw the same laptop on HP website which by the way is way more expensive 2500 SMH but they do advertise that model with a 120hz refresh rate, any truth to that on your model?

@@user-os7pw3ns5j it is worth the upgraded only if you want an absolute stunning display at the cost of battery life. If you are a gamer, I'd recommend a FHD model though for my purposes, I chose the 4k because of video and photo editing.

Thanx 4 the great review... but fact is fact & i must say that This review is so true & so false at the same time. No offense.. Differences are too damn huge. usa, countries in europe, china & india (to name a few) has differnt variants under the same damn name. IT'S TO DAMN CONFUSING. So what you see in the hundreds of youtube reviews in the past couple months about the hp omen 15 will NOT hold true when you buy it in your country, whether online or in a store. It's a clever and really piss off annoying marketing strategy. I almost hate it just cuz of that. Just wanted you all to know that cuz u will definitely be dissapointed when u try to buy it. And its just the tip of the iceberg. So pissed off.... Its a grat laptop at a great price with a lot of GOTCHAA'S. PLZ read the label description THOROUGHLY before buying this laptop or else u will deeply regret it. The best however is the HP OMEN 15 ryzen version 4800 H 16Gigs 144 hz FHD RGB keyboard variant with is within the 1000 dollar mark . But most countries do not sell this variant & if u really want it u have to order it online from a different country where it's avaliable, skyrocketing the price of this "budget" laptop which makes no sense ..... Sooooo U C ?? GOTCHAA !! In this case going with zephyrus g14, asus tuf or the legion 5 is a far BETTER bang for bucks option.

I actually did create a battery test: ruclips.net/video/9fRwx9pOnII/видео.html
If you are wokring on video the entirety of the class, you probably won't get 75m since that is when the computer is running at a high performance mode. However, if it's for notes and etc.. you will be ok on battery saver mode. Also, if you have an outlet nearby, you will be good.
Hope this helps. Let met know if you have any other questions!
@@StevenRamonFilms Thanks so much! I'll be thinking about it since I probably won't be taking as many in-person classes.
Hey, why didn't you get the ryzen one?
I chose the i7 because of the rtx 2070.
Hey man! Just subscribed! Great video! About to buy this laptop actually. Had some questions though
Yea. Though the screen is phenomenal. For my purposes, it is totally worth it. Besides, it charges fast so 🤷♂️
Thanks for commenting!
You could show a gaming benchmark
Good idea! Think I might!
@@StevenRamonFilms wow, didnt expect a reply, and this soon too lol
All the best in your future videos 🤩
I appreciate that!
Is the 4K screen more reflective than the Full HD ones?
Because it is glass, from angles, yes though it is considered anti reflection. I don't ever notice any sort of reflection when using it.
@@StevenRamonFilms Lol thers no anti reflection on your 4k display. Full HD screen has no reflection, its IPS
@Brian You might be right just because of Best Buy's listing is not 100% accurate even though it says it is there. Lol. Thanks for your input!
Only 60hz? 🤨
This thing is running Destiny 2 at highest settings in 4k. Smooth as butter. Mind blowing!
Is the screen back panel metal?
The normal omens has plastic backlids but ive read some articles saying that the 4k version has a metal backlid.
I believe it is plastic hence the flex. Though I'm going to double check!
Thanks for commenting!
loved the review, one thing is distracting me waching you and that's the lighting.. please use some soft lights, i can see how hard is it for you to look at the camera that makes us even difficult to watch you.. cheers!
Thank you for that! Yeah, I realize I didn't have enough diffusion 😅 appreciate the input!
If your still responding to these comments how much was this laptop build if you don’t mind me asking?
I spent around $2000 with the upgrades! Though the 16gb ram stock is still solid along with the 1tb it comes with.
@@StevenRamonFilms thanks I’ve been thinking about this one and I think I’m gonna get it.
Have you got a burn in problem with this laptop yet? OLED is my favorite looking display, its just the burn-ins that stop me from buying this.
I was worried about this but no. Nothing yet after over 6 months of usage. I think I read something about these newer oled panels to have prevention in place to protect it too.
@@StevenRamonFilms Thank you so much for letting me know! I will consider getting an OLED Laptop in the future once my HP OMEN 15 dies
hi how long does the battery last on this?
This really depends. It's not very long to say the least. Releasing a video very soon on this so stay tuned 😉
Does this configuration come with a 720p webcam or 1080p? Bestbuy says 1080
Nice catch. It's got the 720p web cam.
Is there a list of RAMs and NVMe compatible with this new omen?
I wasn't able to find a list, but it came with 16 GB DDR4-2933 SDRAM and I upgraded it to 32 (2 16's) GB DDR4-3200 SDRAM (link in desc). As for the SSD, I purchased the second gen 3 NVME SSD (link in desc too).
Thanks for commenting and I hope this helps!
The whole video is you talking. Can we see the omen up close please?
Is it heavy?
Not really. It's 5.4 lbs which is less then the previous generation.
Great review! Any chance to get "latencymom" results on this laptop? thats a free software measuring audio latency.
Thank you! And I don't see why you couldn't download latencymom. I normally use ASIO4ALL for my audio latency controls.
I got the same laptop but don’t have a advanced option for lighting in omen command centre?
Hi, I like to travel and I like to play. But I would be afraid of this laptop when traveling. Do you know any tip for a laptop with rtx2060, 16gb ram, i7 with a good cooling system?
I just got this model myself, it should arrive today. But I'm a little concerned about dealing with such a low battery, even with a stay-at-home lifestyle, it might be nice to get more than a couple hours of light usage (since I'd want to do work on this, not just gaming). So, I might end up going for the Ryzen version so I'm not married to the charger.
Good idea. This laptop is super powerful but with the expense of the battery.
Does the oled screen have a grainy effect or u can see the pixel at white ish color like on the envy 15?
Hey so you have two 1tb ssd in your omen?
I sure do!
Thanks for commenting!
Wait is this a new hp omen gaming laptop ryzen?
Yes.. did you watch the video? And this model is using intel.
Thanks for the comment!
Is this a glass or plastic screen ? I know the 60 , 144 and 300 hz are plastic this looks glass
Glass! Edge to edge glass baby!
@@StevenRamonFilms will that make the screen more prone to damage/cracking due to the flex, because unlike the plastic screens glass doesn't bend
Quick question. I have the same laptop. My monitor frequency drops to 134hz on battery and is back to 300hz on charger. Is that normal?
Hi a have same computer but is not walk for keyboard lighting change
I'm not sure I understand your comment. Is there a problem with your keyboard?
not a single word about the rendering speed or if it can handle adobe video editing programs in general
Battery life is affected by 4K OLED display, which consumes much more power than IPS FHD display.
Can we switch off the 4k mode? Like is there a option something like this?
Switch off 4k mode? Like on the screen? Or this this RUclips video? Thanks for commenting!
Steven Ramon Films More into Productivity and Gaming Performance, just for fortnite, same advice?
Something with the rtx2060 would do incredibly well. So this Hp Omen in my review will perform above and beyond for Fortnite. Hence the rtx 2070.
Hello, i’m à french vidéo editor, i don’t really understand what you say xd but do u recommend this pc for 4k vidéo editing ?
Yes! I bought mine specifically for video editing and content creation!
Whats the hertz is it 144?
No, the 4k version, at least mine, is 60 hz but they do have higher hz versions.
Can I use final cut Pro this laptop,4k vedio editing, plz suggest sir,✌️👏👏
Yes! I run premiere and edit 4k on mine so I'm sure you'll be happy with it!
Thanks for the review but brighter is better imo haha
Haha yeah but at night, it becomes too bright for my preference. Using the screen at a dimmed level makes the keys really stand out at white. Anyways, thanks your input!
can i have 64gb ram on OMEN Laptop 15-ek0023TX
the one with intel i7 and 2070 super
No, this tops out at 32gb
the battery last only 70 mins for gaming
This is also near what I got. Will be releasing a video very soon with a review on the battery.

SSD upgrade (additional 1tb):

Why no 4k display with AMD? 😩😤
Haha not sure! I'd request it through their site!
This kind of display will turn the laptop virtualy non-portable as for battery life.

so what the hack? , why not adding great speakers to yours brands , I can't never understand it ,

Thanx 4 the great review...
but fact is fact & i must say that This review is so true & so false at the same time. No offense..
Hp has released different system & software variants (+prices) under the same name HP OMEN 15 in different countries.
(depends on what country u live in / buying it from)
Anyway other Great options are
ASUS TUF A15 ryzen variant
ASUS ZEPHYRUS G14
LENOVO LEGION 5 & 5i
There is also a ryzen (amd) and non ryzen variant, 60 hz & 144 hz refresh rate variant, 4k screen & FHd Variant
Also there's hp omen 15 and 2020 hp omen 15.....see it already gets sooo confusing....
Brooo you got such a great laptop but such a bad cpu😢 especially you will be using it for video editing, you really should have gotten the amd ryzen 7 bro, more cores, better performance and consumes way less power (which means way better battery life, which was one of your cons with the laptop) than intels variant.
