The spirit that this bike has is it's originality, and buying it from the original owner. I've owned quite a few 30's and 40's Indian Chiefs and knuckleheads, but none of them were 100% original. This lucky fella doesn't just own a vintage Harley. He is now a custodian of a historic relic. I hope he preserves it.
omg....wow! Fk'n amazing and I pray Billy keeps the motorcycle for his lifetime and preserves it in its original paint etc....Just beautiful!!!!! Talk about a dream come true...i got goose bumps when he said the numbers matched his phone number, Everything happens for a reason! probably my all time favorite quote and here's why.... simply amazing. Thanks for the video Todd @huntingharleys
Oh I know I herd ya and I was glad to hear that ") but ya man what a treasure! Especially in today's day and age true barn finds are so stupid rare but this is very encouraging to see, hopefully there's a few more still hiding out there ')
Billy told a great story of a once-in-several-lifetimes find. To open that shed up and pull the cover off that bike must've been like opening King Tut's tomb.
you know it's amazing too that this day you can still find beautiful things like that I found the 31 Lincoln in a barn and it was like nothing you've ever experienced in your life finding something like that cherish that bike and cherish it forever
Everything happens for a reason!! What an incredible motorcycle. The spirit of that bike picked its new rider. What an incredible story! I hope he keeps it for 60 years and let’s the bike pick it’s new owner again!!!
Years ago when I was 18 (I'm 59 now), I heard about this man in Paragould Arkansas that had a bunch of 45 Flathead parts. I finally found him and he took me back to his shed. He had already sold most of his Pan and Knuckle parts. But he had a slew of Flathead parts. Even parts for 80" Flatheads. Back then you had to be 21 years of age in Arkansas to buy any vehicle, so he wouldn't sell me anything. I was own my own and had the money but couldn't get my parents or any other adults to go with me to buy a complete bike. Or complete enough to build something to ride. I had to settle with helping my room mate fix up his 61" Panhead. A Panhead he bought from a one armed man who lived in an old sharecroppers shack in Stuttgart Arkabsas. Ah the 1970's.
If I’ve seen one I’ve seen a hundred videos on “barn finds” and you are so right it as rare as hens teeth. This is a real barn find. Glad you made that distinction for all the bs-ers out there making “barn find videos”. Finally a true barn find. You are also right about the soul of the man and bike. The man becomes the bike and the bike becomes the man.
When you hear about an old bike in a barn or shed somewhere, the ONE thing you can be 100% sure of, is that it is NEVER, EVER, what you were told it was originally... EVER! 😂😂
I own 3 Harleys, two m50 sports,1966 models, got one in 66 new for 323.66 cents,i was 15,there is no amount of money or trade,i grew up on it,got a1981 flh80 with 409 actual miles, uncle bought it, died of a heart attack 2 weeks later,no one in the family wanted it,i watched it for 25 years, finally approached my cousins, and said are you gonna let it rust down, they no,make me an offer, say how much, they did,now it sits in my garage when not hot and in the air stream, motorcycles are meant to be ridden, get em hot and make them smoke, good day
Kid is OK, old man talking needs to shut up, it IS a barn find & if the kid wants to sell it , that is HIS business. I’m 67 yrs. old & I’m sick & tired of someone’s idea of what is right, the kid owns it whatever he wants to do IS right❗️I think the spirits have definitely gotten this pain in the ass, he needs to go home & stay there. He has a lot of balls talking to that man that way, just who does he think he is. The owner of the bike showed a lot of class in not telling that old SOB to take a hike. Sell the bike for 100 bucks or 50,000 it’s none of his business.
Agree with the guy telling the buyer of the bike don't ever sell it.. I was telling a friend about what a bad neighborhood I lived in ... she was a realtor.. she said to me Gary we are going to find you a house before your birthday.. this was March 2004.. My birthday is June 10, '53...I got the house .. address 1053 June Terrace.. closed the deal May 28 ...my exwife married her second usband May 28... Terrace is the Nickname I always called my sister growing up... when you get numbers like this.. you got to go with the flow.. I will never sell this house.
at the time of manufacture, they were called welded cross over bars. Today, the most common term is Hollywood bars. it is slang, like the term Knucklehead itself
whatever two people agree on. Stuff with set value's has a common market because it is often sold. There are few of these around and even fewer ever come up for sale
had it going in a week or two, then went on a road run with it. He rides it all the time. That said, I personally view it as an extremely good idea to do a complete tear down on these prior to riding
Hope you restore to original condition and avoid chopping. The original paint and chrome will probably deteriorate if the bike is not attended to.Harleys don't have spirit their owners do(owned three).
when the machine is original paint, you do not want to restore it. You, if your smart, will take it apart and do a mechanical restoration to make sure you do not hurt it.
bought a 1970 flh from original owner, his nephew said if I could get what I paid new I would sell .$4250 it is more than he paid new,it shook so bad he went back to the dealer, they only would fix it it blew up, at 4200 miles had it rebuilt, then went to montana on it. now has 27000 on it
For me very tempting to wash and polish on a old motorcycle....I guess that a no,no.....Gotta keep the original patina on classic wood furniture, no refinnishing ..Lose all value...
It's his bike, sorry but as long as he's not destroying it he can do what he wants with it! He will be old someday too man, this thing needs to be seen and not hoarded.
SHUT UP TODD,BUDDY SELL THAT BIKE DONT FIX NOTHING.GET SOME BIDDERS ,MAKE SOME MONEY.DONT LISTEN TO TODD THAT HOW HE MAKES HIS LIVING,WHO IS HE TO TELL U NOT TO SELL IT .
Complete bollocks about a bike's "spirit." Foolish superstitions will keep you from living to your fullest potential. Bikes are inanimate objects, made from metal and plastic, and are simply tools to be used by their owners for whatever purpose, even if that purpose is emotional or nostalgic. Any emotions or spirit assigned to motorcycles are done by the humans that ride them, not by the bikes themselves. And yes I ride, and I love my bike.
Not everyone is force sensitive to the energies that surround them. To those who cannot feel, no amount of explanation will make them feel. To those who can feel, they know. It is like trying to explain color to the color blind, you cannot, because they cannot see. Science is just starting to understand that consciousness is more then what our cells in our mind provide. They can scientifically measure the energy field around every living thing. Explain me that "Scotty"
Believe me, I ride every day and I love my motorcycle. I fucking love it. I feel it. Science?? Get real, man. You are stating these emotional human attributes as if they are some kind of provable fact. You state "the spirit of the person is imbued into the machine." You even warn people that they will be visited by these spirits if they do them some opaque disservice by selling or parting the bike. You are making these fantastic claims, not me. So it's you that the burden of proof lies upon. I love bikes, but saying this type of ignorant stuff about pieces of metal just makes you and all riders who are nostalgic about bikes look foolish. And I bet you wouldn't make that claim about a 2015 CBR1000RR. It's only the bikes that float YOUR boat that are "imbued with spirit," right? Of course I'm right. Just stop with the hyperbole and enjoy the bike.
So because some psychic phenomena (which by definition is something unexplained) exist, then you extrapolate that to mean that spirits go into motorcycles? Just admit it, man. You're looking like a fool.
You cannot explain site, or color, to the blind, smell to those you never had a sense of smell, hearing to those who have always been deaf, sensation to those who have never felt touch. not everyone is born with all their senses working. Obviously, the sense of energy (or whatever you wish to call it) your lacking. Since you cannot sense it, you will never understand. Not everyone is so unfortunate as you.
When the apostrophe is used in the sense of a noun, it is in the possessive, as in owning more then one. As the vast majority of machines shown in this videos were mine at one time, it's use is technically correct.
what is stupid to one is ultra cool to another, then and now. What you like and love, I assure you there are people who will find it stupid. That's what makes the world an interesting place, people are different with different tastes
How stupid do you take people for? like he drags it around to swap meets or flea market just to show it off and tell that made up story you had him do for your blog..HE HAS IT THERE TO SELL IT FOR A PROFIT..but I see a lot are gullable
I would cut that thing into a low rider, add some alloy wheels and custom metal flake deep purple paint, ditch the front end and go 51 panhead oh yer baby.
Stretch it out, put a fat tire kit on it and chrome every single piece of metal on that bad boy. Then trailer it to bike meets so everyone can see me stand beside my bike.
your miss-understanding what I said. The motorcycle itself does not have a spirit. The owner, someone who owned and rode the machine for decades, his spirit, energy, shakra, whatever you want to call it. Part of that is embued, or becomes a part of that motorcycle. For the energy sensitive, we can FEEL it. For ships, long time crews, their energy as a crew becomes part of the ship. The ship talks to them. This is why sailors give ships names. Ask any primitive culture about the spirits of their land. Universally, they have them. Same thing. Just because YOU cannot feel this, does not make it any less real. it means you do not have that sense.
Hope you restore to original condition and avoid chopping. The original paint and chrome will probably deteriorate if the bike is not attended to.Harleys don't have spirit their owners do(owned three).

please mister, tell me something about the hub caps and more about whatever you want it to. thanks a lot. i'm a '40s chief and knucklehead fan.
Those were some beautiful words you spoke to that young man about the soul of that bike
omg....wow! Fk'n amazing and I pray Billy keeps the motorcycle for his lifetime and preserves it in its original paint etc....Just beautiful!!!!! I told Billy in the interview that if he ever sold, we were going to have us a talk. Watch it again

Heck of a story, awesome bike, thanks very much Todd for sharing your adventures with us. Bo

i finally got to see it in person and it made me think of what it had been through all those years, ridden and parked, it's a special machine
All I ever find in old barns is rat crap and rusty nails.
Amazing! Its one of those stories that gives you goosebumps, thanks for sharing Todd 👍
The most amazing story I've ever heard!.... Thank you for sharing sir....what an amazing machine
you know it's amazing too that this day you can still find beautiful things like that I found the 31 Lincoln in a barn and it was like nothing you've ever experienced in your life finding something like that cherish that bike and cherish it forever
THAT is a cool bike, once in a lifetime for only a few, very fortunate to have gotten it. And phone number thing, man that's great!
hey man thanks for everything you do I have learned so much about old Harley's from watching your videos keep it shiny side up
Fantastic story and the bike is even more famtastic! I hope he keeps it, does a patina restoration and drives it.
Everything happens for a reason!! What an incredible motorcycle. The spirit of that bike picked its new rider. What an incredible story! I hope he keeps it for 60 years and let’s the bike pick it’s new owner again!!!
Karma, spirit, and feng shui all in one package.
I love the short springer on that blue hog, thats class.
Beautiful beautiful bike, I wish I could of hear it run.

I Don't know about that old seat though? It might have to go or at least redone with new leather!!! lol

Nice bike , interesting story , but think the commentator must be trippin . He was coming out with some odd s**t .
Wondering if you managed to get any original pics of owner with bike back in the day?
the current owner did not mention
I did not buy it, or ask if he did
Awesome!!!
I am just a demonstrator. So i am interested to learn with you.
The handlebars are optional Hollywood style bars, correct ?
at the time of manufacture, they were called welded cross over bars. Today, the most common term is Hollywood bars. it is slang, like the term Knucklehead itself
The idea was to help cut down on vibration I believe.
just for looks and a place to mount stuff, like spot lights
Interesting.
EPIC STORY
leave it the way it is that is totally cool
wow!
Sir i mean i am fond of to learn about reparing of bikes. I want to become a good technition.

obviously, you don't know a flying fuck about Harley's. and that is OK, they are not for everyone.
