    Thank you for correcting all the mis informed people that would not be able to even point these subtle but very crucial changes to the bikes. It’s men like you that are a dying breed. Thanks for all you do for the culture and keep these machines and parts in the USA.

    My buddy Frank Gorney from Idyllwild CA, taught me how to ride the old side shifters. I bought a 42FL and road next to him on his 45EL. His old bike sold earlier this year he on Mecum Auction for $93k. My 42 will be sold someday soon as I’m getting older too.

    HI Todd, and thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge . I have noticed the flex exhaust headers on various older Harleys. Would you tell us why Harley choose to do this. Surely not for the looks, IMHO. Were they experimenting with rubber mounts back then? Sorry if you have addressed this before.

I bought it 1983 from the previous owner who titled the bike in 1942 and rode to 1950. I'm guessing mine has a lot more original parts and pieces. I wish I had an email for Todd so that I could send him pictures from when I bought it. I have no idea if the light blue color on it when I bought it was original color or not. Thanks again.

    Todd, are you going to be at the auction? I will have my 1940 Knucklehead on the block Saturday afternoon, check it out on the auction website lot listing. You have found some nice OEM replacement products to get close to original. I bought mine in 1983 from the family of the owner titled in 1942. At most, I am the third owner and I have a copy of that title. When I bought the bike it had a 1950 license plate on it so only 10 years of possible changes. Although I restored this bike and it does not have original paint, I hope you have a chance to see my bike that hasn't gone through many owners and subsequent, who knows what, changes.

    Hey Todd! Great piece on that old gem !. Q 4 U- I rebuilt 83 fxwg didnt touch the trans , put lienweber ls3 in it 40 over pistons ..so it feels like I'm losing torque at around 2800 rpm in every gear then roll off gas and it lunges forward. Like it revs up but doesnt get to the rear wheel unless I let off the throttle Would that be a compensator situation? Thanks for the vids hope this q makes sense ...

      The 6 inch was Avaliable until at least 1955. The later ones used the later tags. The oftener tag was used through 1941. 42 saw the "new" square tag introduced. I've had a lot of original paints over the decsdes. Not to mention tons if literature much of which I've put on the RUclips including a video on air cleaners. Tons if invoiced, letters from the factory that documents everything I've said.

    • @HuntingHarleys
      @HuntingHarleys  5 лет назад

      Special order section on the order form allowed the dealer to ask for anything out of the normal check box. Any plating, any color. Totally forgotten knowledge until I bought this motorcycle and found the documentation

    • @HuntingHarleys
      @HuntingHarleys  5 лет назад +1

      I should add in. Prior to the documentation I uncovered and plastered all over this RUclips channel, most people thought pre war you couldn't even get chrome, that all chrome was "after it was built" because the catelog bikes didn't have any. Prior to WWII, the USA and the world was still gripped by the Great Depression. We, the USA, would not get out of that until AFTER WWII. So people humoriously thought that HD, during the leanest times in modern history, would simply allow the dealers all that extra money. The fact is, HD wanted all that custom build money. HD was, circa 1926-42, the largest custom bike manufacturer the world was ever seen. ALL forgotten by the "experts". The proof is all over this channel through the videos I have uploaded. Watch the videos and learn.

      This machine cost me a lot of money. 40 cases are weak, tend to blow up. I've enjoyed it for the history and as a way to learn and pass on knowledge. You want to hear it run? Be the winner at the Mecum.com Auction in Vegas 2020

      Did you watch the video? He said he never started it. It probably does. If I were fortunate enough to buy it, I would disassemble and inspect the internals. Then not be afraid to ride it.

Some rich guy bought a fake Captain America bike back in the 1990s, because someone told him it was real, Dan Haggerty, for ONE MILLION

    La forma en que está puesto el asiento es orrible y no mostró la moto en marcha, pésimo video 👎👎

    • @HuntingHarleys
      @HuntingHarleys  5 лет назад

      El asiento está instalado de fábrica correcto. ¿Quizás estás acostumbrado a helicópteros más modernos en lugar de motocicletas originales? Esta es una máquina realmente rara. Está a la venta en Mecum's este enero de 2020. Nunca lo he comenzado. Lo que sí hice fue documentar esta y otras motocicletas tempranas en relación con las opciones de fábrica y los pedidos especiales que habían sido completamente olvidados por todos los "expertos" y que históricamente hace que esta máquina específica sea "invaluable". Entonces, si quieres escucharlo, TÚ lo compras en Mecum's y haces tu propio video.
