Great review! I think the real reason why all Aer bags use a front zipper that's waterproof, even though the main zipper isn't is simply a branding thing. The rubberized front zipper is something that has become a value of brand recognition for Aer products, I can't think of any other reason why Aer would use this zipper up front while the rest of the zippers aren't water resistant. If you want these zippers all around though you can opt for the X-PAC version of Aer bags which use these water resistant zippers also on other pockets, not just the front one.
I have the Aer Day Sling 2 - and I use it mostly as a pocket reliever - so keep my wallet, phone, a multi tool, glasses/sunglasses, some gum, mints, face mask - I like it for that - I just did a trip and I carabiner on the outside a small water bottle and a packable tote (if I stop to buy some delicious IPAs ;) ). I sometimes carry an umbrella as well.

Would love to see you review more bags and backpacks 🎒
your review is spot on. I do think this is a great sling and use it all the time when traveling for pleasure.

Nice review... but what wallet were you using on your trip?
That’s the real question
How does this function in combination with your tech pouches?
Is it really too big for going out and about (grocery shopping)?
will the tablet sleeve fit a Galazy Tab S8+?
Bought the city sling and never used it. Too small except for phone and chap stick. Paid $75!
Sell it to me haha if it’s the city sling 2
