He talked about this night in other interviews stating also that it was in the late 2000's.
This is your brain on drugs......and whatever else, Eddie, was doing back then. This is after him and Valerie, split. So enters the downhill spiral. So glad he got sober. Cause this shit here, is not the Eddie, that inspired me to pick up the guitar, in 86.
Correct. Eds playing now, sober, is fucking awesome. I feel for him in my heart because I too am in recovery from alcoholism. It was fun when young, but, as I got older, it fucked me up. My playing now is more tamed. We do not take the chances.
Joe Wentz What's even more sad is the comments saying how awesome he and his playing is without regard to his obvious state of being on some hard drugs. I've loved Eddie since hearing his first album. So sad to see him like this.
Check out Eddie at the Hollywood bowl this year on here. Sober and playing like a monster. Roth is still struggling to sing, but Ed and Alex are just fucking incredible. No drugs and booze for me, means money for another Les Paul next month. Yep, fuck you pusher man, hello Guitar Center.
People, let's stop bashing each other and appreciate the video for what it is. Edward and friends having a party, and having FUN. Does anyone still remember fun? Yes it's a little messy, but who cares. Van Halen were all about partying, and if the performance was not spot on, Edward's attitude to partying that night was. Peace.

Regardless of the shape he was in at that time, he showed pure musical talent and passion. Eddie will always be King Eddie. Nobody can ever take that away. Often imitated, never duplicated
This is the type of sycophant stuff that led to him getting into this shape in the first place. As much as everyone wants Eddie to be their friend, enabling addicts isn't a good thing.
I'm still in shock. Eddie changed my life dramatically. I was 17 in 78 selling guitars at a big guitar shop outside of Boston. The day VH hit will never be forgotten!
@@Dan-rn6xm I worked the Newbury St store 1 day / week for years. Tower Records moved in after Wurlys left. The rest of the week I worked in the Framingham Wurlys. I left the company in 1985 as the company was sold to some silly people that finally killed it. Allen Holdsworth Ibanez?
I have been watching a lot of EVH videos today. This one is the worse, but hey they were just having fun. What I took away from this video was no-madder how young you are (or how badly you want to be David Lee Roth) guys should never wear low rise jeans and half shirts. eeek!
No, the worst was an actual concert were his guitar was tuned E flat and the Jump synth was in typical C major. As a result his guitar was one semi tone off, the most dissonant of tones. Ouch.
He was clearly shitfaced and his playing reflected it here. This had to be from around 2004-2005 after the disastrous reunion tour with Sammy. Glad he had a few good sober years before he passed.
Who cares if Eddie's playing was spot on. It's a party. I'm sure he was pretty messed up and it was just for fun. He wasn't in the studio or on stage getting paid. It's just for fun. Not only that he probably couldn't even hear every other instrument. Just being there is cool enough. Not only that, he could have been drinking or partying for the past 10 hours and then got on stage to rock. It's just for fun.
Ed was the one who went out in front of a bunch of people and said Watch this! Someone recorded it and uploaded it and said Watch this! They also enabled comments which means Say something! And guess what, we may say what we like about the video. This isn't a fan site
I watch this video, and I think, wow, Ed is trying to play " hello friends" by the living legend, kendall james Lodevik barnes and failing epically. barnes from his 5151 studio on 4035N Bartlett drive in berlin wisconsin is uneasy about ed trying to copy Lodevik's technique and feel that lodevik may sue because of this, only to fill the booze room at the 5151 studio's........Duh, dim rote! Duh.....
I find myself watching more and more of Eddie the older I get, a huge part of my childhood. From Hot for teacher to Best of both worlds I didn't care, Eddie, that guitar.......damn
+Daniel Dougan Both my n*ts, every penny I'll make for the rest of my life and I'll pump gas on Rt. 9 in Elizabeth in the dead of winter to have had this coveted drummer's gig...
Eddie just lifted Marty McFly’s solo right out of BTTF! It’s so nice to see a guitgod like him hit a sour note every once in a while. It reminds us that he really is just human, after all. The simple fact is, this is most likely the first time Eddie has performed that song live, since that album toured. Or, at least since DLR went astray. In any case, Eddie Van Halen still towers over most!
He's coked up and drunk, I saw EVH in 78,79,80,81,82,83,84 and he was incredible but after that it's been a steady decline, this is abysmal and hard to watch.
Why do people insist on comparing Jimi to Eddie? Jimi would have loved Eddie's playing. They both are phenomenal talents and Eddie is clearly more skilled. Any moron can see that.
What a cool ass party that must have been! Lucky you for getting to be there! Eddie Van Halen is a true guitar God! He shreds that guitar like nobody else ever could - Thank you so much for sharing this video! ;) Rock on!
Eddie does the same shit we do when he doesn’t remember something…. He can fall down the steps and land on his feet but when you’re playing slower deliberate melody lines and can’t remember the notes or position, the 2 step bend is your friend!!
This is a great post, just having fun in the back yard and what a back yard it is. Eddie was always drunk most times I met him, he's actually very shy and doesn't care much for people, he has a very angry edge to him and I don't believe he has ever really enjoyed his success or harnest the ability to just relax and be ok with himself. He is an intraverted perfectionist with serious anger issues, this is why Sammy had to go? Sammy was the complete opposite, Eddie uses people as disposable garbage
I think the most important thing I got from this, is that I believe Eddie lived the life he wanted to live, and lived it to the fullest! Isn't that what we all want for ourselves. Rest in peace you beautiful soul of a man. Love you always Eddie💕

Sad thing about this is everyone around Ed enabled him, when he needed someone to help him through a terrible time. Being Ed brings more 'hangers on' than friends.
amazing how he lived through it ?? the dude had some serious angels looking over him, shame he didn't learn anything from Sammy the red rocKer , he should be laughing all day long not losing it on class a drugs
No one wants to say it. But Ed was in a low period of his life at this point..missing teeth .bad hygiene, and obviously drinking heavily. Im glad he conquered his demons before he went home! HIS SIGNATURE EVH / FENDER BRAND 5150 III AMP (THAT IS IN THE VIDEO) WASN'T EVEN OUT UNTIL 2007! That is Derek Sherinian on keyboards -formerly of "Dream Theater". He talked about this night in other interviews stating also that it was in the late 2000's.
EVH on his worst day, still the Reigning King! Long Live The King!
This is your brain on drugs......and whatever else, Eddie, was doing back then. This is after him and Valerie, split. So enters the downhill spiral. So glad he got sober. Cause this shit here, is not the Eddie, that inspired me to pick up the guitar, in 86.
When I see him like this I always think of Emma Stone in Zombieland telling Bill Murray he looks like EVH.
Correct. Eds playing now, sober, is fucking awesome. I feel for him in my heart because I too am in recovery from alcoholism. It was fun when young, but, as I got older, it fucked me up. My playing now is more tamed. We do not take the chances.
I am a friend of Bill, W's too,
Joe Wentz
What's even more sad is the comments saying how awesome he and his playing is without regard to his obvious state of being on some hard drugs.
RIP Eddie. We will miss you forevermore.
I see Derek Sherinian (former Dream Theater Keyboardist)
And Brian Tichey on Drums
but dont hear
Yep I thought that was Sherinian too!
That's Sherinian!!
Wow, didn't realize Tichy was there. I think that's Ralph Saenz (Michael Starr) on vox. Who's on bass ?
People, let's stop bashing each other and appreciate the video for what it is. Edward and friends having a party, and having FUN. Does anyone still remember fun? Yes it's a little messy, but who cares. Van Halen were all about partying, and if the performance was not spot on, Edward's attitude to partying that night was. Peace.
You're right! It was fucking fun and to many today, it still is.. im one. You just have to be able to manage it.... wisely
Damn wish I could have been there but man when I get to Heaven there we will see him play again.Im sure Heaven had one heck of a concert when he got home which is where we will all be one day great video😄🇺🇸😄🙏🙏🙏
Hey That's Eric Fucking Dover on Vocals He was in some bands you might have heard of Jellyfish, Imperial Drag, SEXTUS, STARFUCKERS, and played guitar for Alice Cooper in 2000, show some fucking respect. you think just anyone gets invited to sing at Eddies house ? think again.
+James Patrick maybe eric needs to play guitar because he cant sing.
+James Patrick: Is his middle name really Fucking ? Looks like he has his sisters low-rider jeans on.
+PCollen YT no shit lol. he looks like a fucking chick
+James Patrick Thanks about Eric Dover
Yes but who in the hell is that trying to solo like Eddie?
Eddie can wail...loaded or not...what a guitar player!
Kids learn from Edward: Don't smoke.
the guy lighting his cig make me sick
thinchrisful yes, throat cancer. Every time you see him he's got a cigarette going.
thinchrisful oh come on. You smoke nonstop you're going to get lcancer it's not an uncommon thing. I can't believe he blamed that on a guitar pic… i'm not saying he didn't say that, I'm just saying why not go with the obvious…
He did what he wanted to do you can die walking down the street
pawee1 exactly!
Drunk ! Go 'head and Drunk ! I got my back against the Jaeger maaaachiiiiiiinnnnne ! Drunk !
Best comment ever LOL!!!
I see what you did there. And let's face it, alcoholism is always hilarious! 😉
Might as well dump might as well dump dump dump go ahead and dump might as well dump.😂😂😂😂🇺🇸
Might as well drunk. Drunk. I was thinking the same lyrics.
the serious comments... I T I S A P A R T Y. This isn't a VanHalen show. He's wasted at his party, playing pretty good for being that lit up, actually. Fucking awesome. God Forbid! Eddie Van is a human being.. nOOOOOOOOOOOOO! fuck, let the dude be. He's done his part.
I agree.
Incredible guitar action and intensity and feeling. One of my Favorite Classic anthems.
@@TheDmonet Spot on
No way dude, you went to a party at Eddie's house! Way cool!
I'm still in shock. Eddie changed my life dramatically. I was 17 in 78 selling guitars at a big guitar shop outside of Boston. The day VH hit will never be forgotten!
That sounds amazing!
Which store and when?
@@Dan-rn6xm EU Wuurlitzer Music & Sound.
@@guitartec I bought my Ah 10 there right under tower records in 1988 or so
@@Dan-rn6xm I worked the Newbury St store 1 day / week for years. Tower Records moved in after Wurlys left. The rest of the week I worked in the Framingham Wurlys. I left the company in 1985 as the company was sold to some silly people that finally killed it. Allen Holdsworth Ibanez?
I wish I could play as terribly as he is playing.
Keep practicing...and drinking.
@@VinchenzoC & smokin
This is Eddie in a moment of pure joy. Mostly because Roth wasn’t there (hate to say it.)
fn' killer so proud he put one of his guitar's in dimes casket :}
Ouch.
@@PIlotrcm Doin the garage thing...if you were there , and I wasn't , you would see it as plain old fun.
He was clearly shitfaced and his playing reflected it here. This had to be from around 2004-2005 after the disastrous reunion tour with Sammy. Glad he had a few good sober years before he passed.
2006
@@BS-ql9zm close enough 😂 he didn’t get sober until 2009.
Wow! What a great moment you've captured here.
Exactly, Eddie is friggin amazing and the King of Tone.
Duh.....
Rock Star yeah but he had to pay to Derek Sherinian the keyboard master ex-dream teather there.
Rip por siempre Eddie van Halen
Eddie really loves making his guitar do cool stuff
I find myself watching more and more of Eddie the older I get, a huge part of my childhood. From Hot for teacher to Best of both worlds I didn't care, Eddie, that guitar.......damn
"From another party I went to at Eddie Van Halen's house." You, sir (or madam) have an awesome life.
+Daniel Dougan "another video from a party i went to at eddie's house". Another video, same party.
+Daniel Dougan Both my n*ts, every penny I'll make for the rest of my life and I'll pump gas on Rt. 9 in Elizabeth in the dead of winter to have had this coveted drummer's gig...
+Pratt 2007 I've been on Rt.9 in Elizabeth, you are serious as a heart attack!! Hope you make it there some day!!
whoohoo! proud of you. get your own life
Daniel Dougan what are the parties? Family and friends. How does it work
Eddie just lifted Marty McFly’s solo right out of BTTF!
I know if I was at that party! and wasted at Eddie's house this would have been the bets performance in my life!!
one of the few ed tunes i can't fucking stand.
amazing, as messed up as Ed is, I enjoyed this version far better
***** -- i know what you mean. i just meant the song in general.
Genius in terms of creativity, originality and feeling of course.
to me he is above Hendriks, no matter how drunk or high he was.
Here you hear purely the master.
RIP
You could have kept that lie. No one is better than Jimi, he was one of a kind my man.
@@angelanwtn48 i disagree. Jim I was great for his time but Eddie was great for all times
@@angelanwtn48 Hendrix was sloppy live --- EVH could still bring the shit as a live artist
It's an alcoholic feature
I think the most important thing I got from this, is that I believe Eddie lived the life he wanted to live, and lived it to the fullest! Isn't that what we all want for ourselves. Rest in peace you beautiful soul of a man. Love you always Eddie💕
KING EDDIE!! RIP
I like the guy giving Eddie a light 1:43

Sad thing about this is everyone around Ed enabled him, when he needed someone to help him through a terrible time. Being Ed brings more 'hangers on' than friends.
Sammy tried to reason with him on the 04 reunion tour and he wouldn’t have any of it.
@@jameswilson1628 Eddie hadn't hit bottom yet, and Sammy may have been the only reasonable voice in his ear then. This was Ed's low point for sure.
This king is dead long live evh forever the best outrageous crazy gifted guitarist is gone but never forgotten
amazing how he lived through it ?? the dude had some serious angels looking over him, shame he didn't learn anything from Sammy the red rocKer , he should be laughing all day long not losing it on class a drugs
F***ING CAN'T BELIEVE HE'S GONE!!! MY HEART IS STILL BROKEN!! RIP ( ROCK IN PEACE), EDWARD VAN HALEN!!!!!!!!!

Who is this singer? He was perfect! Drummer is killing it. This is insanely good.
