    After having a very long phone chat with Sony about their 4K UHD dvd player. Found out that unless you can get a 4K UHD dvd that has an aspect ratio of 16:9. Then the 4K dvd won't play full screen as this I did not know. Apparently not all 4K UHD dvds have that aspect ratio built in. So it'll only display visually 1080 but you still get the 4K UHD clarity. My fairly new Bravia has that 4:3 ratio and if I were to attempt to get a higher res, then the picture can look off almost.

    I have 74x and cant change aspect ratio...how to do

  • @mattshubat
    @mattshubat 7 месяцев назад +2

    I'm trying this with a 4k input signal from a PC via HDMI 4 but the "Screen" menu options are all greyed out for this input.
    A temporary workaround seems to be returning to the home screen from the input you want to change, then going to the "Screen" settings from their. It switches back to HDMI 4 for me and temporarily fixes the aspect ratio at least for a little bit. But seems to slowly creep back to overscan.. Still looking into a permanent solution for this..
    Super annoying you can't hard code this. Seems like a TV "intelligence" feature which is incredibly stupid.

      That’s funny, that does work. I’ve also noticed that hitting the Notifications icon in the quick settings and then returning to HDMI 4 does it too. So weird. Any fix?

    • @Baenarai
      @Baenarai 5 месяцев назад +2

      I think I might've just found a solution by complete coincidence.
      If you press the "TV" button on your remote it opens up a menu with options for VRR, Motion Blur Reduction, Crosshair and Screen Size.
      Swapping screen size from whatever full screen to custom and back again fixed the horizontal overscan for me.
      No idea why or why that setting is hidden behind a button I'd assume would just change to source to cable but at least it's fixed now.
      Don't know yet if it's permanent but at least it's a quick and easy fix.

    For people that sees it greyed out it’s bc your quality is too high to handle wide mode you just have to put a lower quality like 1080p or 720p

      define "older"? I had a Bravia LCD from back in the day and I don't think those tvs had the option for this. Todays more current tvs have all that new tv tech built in. So my guess is unless your tv is within a couple of years or less. Then that aspect ratio may not be accessible.
