Solid state drives are super fast with zero moving parts and are dead silent. P.s. Mark Cerny himself uses the WD SN850 M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVME SSD in his PS5. 👍

Of course there will be technical people that correct other people, but I don’t fault him for saying HDD because I know what he means. it’s like saying Kleenex (brand) for tissue paper and Band Aid (brand) for bandage. Doge Doesn’t Care About Your Feelings even bought an SSD as mentioned in his comment so I’m sure he knows what he is talking about.
You can also reduce the animations to make the Google TV more responsive, by going to developer option and change animation scale to 0.5x for Window animation scale, transition animation scale and animator duration scale. Anyway, great video by Vincent!

Great video as always. Big fan! Just a thought, from all other android devices that I use (mobile phones for example), in developer mode, if you reduce the animations scales from 1x to 0.5x it gives a smoother and snappier experience. Hope it will be another bonus tip for you all.

Great video Vincent! I've been unhappy with the sluggishness of my A90J after only a couple of months of owning it. Every time I turn it on it is slow right after booting up. Some of these little-known hacks I discovered on my own but most of these are new to me. I will definitely change my settings based on your video! My last OLED was an LG which had WebOS instead of Android and I liked it a lot. I never experienced any slow down on it and it was super quick.

Very useful tips! I would only add one: if you don't use it, set the "Remote start" to OFF as it is drawing power even when the TV is switched off(~35W). Can be found under - Network and Internet section.
Hmm. I have an X950H, and in the first tip - Accounts & Services - I don't see any "Apps Only" mode option. INside this are only three options: Sync Now, Remove Account, and Choose synced apps (I've disabled Calendar, Google TV, People Details).
I got Sony Bravia A80L few days ago and used the ethernet USB 3 cable to get wired connection speed went from 300 to 800 MB/Second. Great tip and i use all the other recommendations also.
Vincent, I followed your instructions but the option is not there for me to select the apps only mode. Maybe it's due to a different firmware version since you done this video. Not quite sure. There are some advertisements on the home screen for videos/movies that my son is actually afraid of. I want to remove it all together. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!
Great video. My favourite setting is the APP ONLY since it clears up the home page from all the unnecessary app and recommendations which I don't care for, except the Google Assistant button on the remote doesn't work when you're have APP ONLY mode on and that's unfortunate. If anyone knows how to get it Google Assistant button AND have the App Only Mode on at the same time that would be awesome.
Cool Tricks. I thought you were going to show us how to enable Developer Mode and change video setting from 1.0 to .5 in some of the visual settings in developer mode. One of your best videos. Very helpful..
So funny I've been doing that probably since Ice Cream Sandwich days on the phone but I had no idea you could do dev options on the Android TV. Makes perfect sense!
@@restymalinao2023 More in depth answer it shortens the duration of the animations. That does 2 things to speed things up... It visually speeds things up by shortening the time the animation is taking place. That's pretty self explanatory, a 2 second video is shorter than a 4 second one. The other reason is shorter animations will use less graphics processing resources similar to a phone or computer. The less resources being used, the faster it can get other tasks done.

One other "trick" is simply using "BasicTV" mode at setup time and skipping most of the Google ecosystem altogether. You can't add more apps, but at least the built-in ones will work.
Hi there! Love your vids. I purchased the A90j and so happy with it. Wonderful quality. However I am stuck between using Google or Apple TV+. I have used your Apple TV settings - 4kSDR match all etc. i find the Apple TV picture slightly better but the Dolby vision settings on a90j no longer come up with the same movie source and Sony tv goes into custom mode using Apple TV. Can you tell me or perhaps create a video for people with Apple 4k tv and of any benefits over the inbuilt Google or not? Also Having problems matching the sound quality on Apple TV as Google sound better for some reason? Cheers
Excellent video. Does anyone know how to enable ProMode on Sony's Android 10 TVs (GoogleTV)? The previous remote button combination does not seem to work any more. Sony has some docs, but have to get the TV into Pro Settings mode first.
Vince thank you! I did the steps here and did the whole select last input for when tv turns on and my tv now turns on my cable box everytime now. Everytime I turned on my tv my X90J kept asking me to “Turn on my cable box” and then I had to press “turn on” and even then most times it didn’t work and I’d have to power down my cable box and fire it back up before it would work. Now I’ve seen so many people have issues with EArc working on soundbars. I seen in your video that your tv was reading your EArc audio. So is this issue fixed now when you turn on your tv the soundbar turns on with it with no issues?

Try doing this for updates.. If you have a VPN, go to another region, go to system update and see if there is an update.. cancel update, go back to regular region and try update again.. Sometimes you never know your luck in the big city
Very helpful all of these. Especially the TV shortcut as I don't watch TV broadcasts only movies on disc. So for me the TV button was a waste.. Not anymore thumbs up.

I've done many of these things and my interface is indeed speedier. You should mention that APPS ONLY mode turns off search. From the home screen you cannot search for apps, movies, shows, etc. So I'm tempted to undo this particular change. PS, I just bought/installed an ethernet to USB adapter to speed up my wired internet speed. Perhaps this will make the interface snappier even if I disable APPS ONLY mode.

The only question I have is that when you went into developer options and then "Background process limit" you said to set it to 4 but than you clicked on "At most 2 processes"--did you mean to click on "At most 4 processes" ?
I just found this....thankyou thankyou thank you. Hard to believe that a TV costing this much would have such a crappy operating system. I love the picture and sound, but having to reboot it 3x per week is getting old. I called Sony and the first thing they wanted me to do is a factory reset. @@naderzein2435 when you are watching a movie on HDR local dimming will just turn off leaving you with a very dark picture with no pop, you have to manually toggle local dimming off and on in picture settings to make it work again. Will happen multiple times while watching a movie. It’s insanely annoying and kills the expirience on this TV.

Ours needed a lot of calibration out of the box . Used recs on AVS . Great picture now .

This doesn’t work the same on tvs with android tv, like on the x900h, instead of Google tv os, like the x90j. Settings look a little different.

That sounds horrible :( i have the x900h and havnt had that issue at all. maybe its a firmware issue and will get resolved.

Be warned that APP-ONLY mode disables Google Assistant and voice enabled controls as well.
