Speaking of Twitch, I'll be streaming again this weekend. On Saturday, I'll be playing Mega Man 7 and on Sunday, it's back to Spider-Man 3! Streams start at 230 Eastern Time!
Is it possible to try starlord next?
When I was a little kid I saw the 60's Spider-Man cartoon with the lizard. He haunted my nightmares lol. I wouldn't eat green freeze-pops because they looked like the serum the Dr. Conner drank to become the lizard. I still think of the lizard when I see green freeze-pops. True story hehe.
Wow😮!
One of the biggest complaints but the first amazing Spider-Man film was that they cut out the deleted scenes of Kurt with his son Billy. They had to empathize he was a family man like Richard Parker was. It would've been interesting seeing the counterpoint; Richard sacrificed himself to protect Peter from Osborne, while Connors fell into full addiction to his new persona and used it for his own personal agenda. What a lost opportunity.
They had deleted scenes? I didn’t even know that.
@@matthewschwartz6607 yeah, even extended scenes that showed the depth of Connors's split personality
Its a shame how much of doctor connors was cut out of the film
"They had to empathize he was a family man like Richard Parker was"
no they didn't.
Man, The Lizard has quite the history! Thanks for covering him. He's one of my favorite Spidey villains.
Some people have compared The lizard and Killer croc from Batman. While both characters are reptilian like characters I don't feel The Lizard is in the same league as Killer Croc. I feel there's another Batman villain who is way more comparable to the lizard, Man-Bat. Man-Bat I feel is more comparable to the lizard because both characters were scientists who meant well but when they experimented on themselves they became feral creatures. Also both Curt Connors and Kirk Langstrom aren't truly evil they are just in a primitive state when they are either Lizard or Man-Bat. Killer Croc's backstory is nothing like that. Waylon Jones wasn't a scientist, and unlike Curt Connors or Kirk Langstrom Croc was born with his condition and turned to crime because of the abuse.
I understand that the Lizard changed as simpler writers decided to simplify the pair but I prefer the way the Lizard/Curt dynamic started, with Curt Conners being the complete victim of the alien personality who is the Lizard. So for my Lizard, the closest Batman example would be Ventriloquist/Scarface.
@@tskmaster3837 I feel Lizard is way more comparable to Man-Bat even from the beginning. I don't think there's enough to compare with Scarface. I feel both characters backstories are incredibly similar to where I wonder if Frank Robbins and Neil Adams had the Lizard in mind when creating Man-Bat.
Yeah, Scarface isn’t comparable to the Lizard AT ALL! Weskler was never a normal decent guy like Curt was either, he was always a bit shady. The Green Goblin would be a more apt comparison.
But "primitive state" condition? You do realize the Lizard can speak, right? Also:
Two minds, actually one body, two minds... actually one body. One mind, actually one body. Guess which one's which.
Where's the difficulty coming in, is it the lab accident? Or is it the Incredible Hulk/Dr Jekyll identity problem? To me, the Lizard was a 100% separate mind, no question as it's the only way Amazing Spider-man 102 could work: if the partial Connor/Lizard personality was combination of two different minds. And that's the mind who sounds like the Hulk. "Why must I be the weak Connors when I can be the Lizard forever!"
If Man-bat... or WoMan-bat... could speak, he... or she...would most likely sound like that.
Edited because I can't count from 1 to 2.
There have been several interpretations of the Lizard, but through his first several appearances, he could speak, strategize, and create potions/formulas in his lizard form (in one instance, it was his claws/size that held him back from working with lab equipment, not his intelligence).
lizard 15 minutes could save you 15 webs or more on spiderman insurance
I only wish I could give this two thumbs up for mentioning my favorite Spider-Man villain, Stegron!
Thank you so much for uploading this. The Lizard is my favorite Spider-Man villain of all time and I'm rewriting him for an upcoming fan animated series.
I've always liked the character. I think Curt Conners is one of Spidey's most interesting, and sadly tragic foes.
He is essentially Spider-Man's equivalent of Batman's Man-Bat, though he debuted 7 years earlier.
Holy smokes, what a tragic tale, he is a great villain in the Spider Man rogue gallery.
What a marvelous way to end off the year, happy new year!
It must suck to be Dr. Curt Connors. He just wanted his arm back, not to be changed into a vicious monster. Classic example of the tragic villain.
This is such a fantastic video, thank you for documenting Dr. Connors, one of my favorite Spider-Man characters, and a bit underrated for being so iconic, in my opinion.
Have Curt Conners and Bruce Banner ever met? I'm sure they can bond over shared experiences of being able to transform into uncontrollable monsters.
Definitely
The way that Todd McFarlane illustrated the lizard is unbelievable! literally incredible
Damn just.....damn poor connors
Love the Lizard. I had that great Stegron arc when I was a kid.
Happy New Year Marvelite!
A character history cannot be told any better than this! Excellent! Thanks for all these history lessons! Appreciate all the research you do! Thanks!
Lizard is probably my favorite spider-man villain, since I love lizards and reptiles. Its kind of childish of me, but in many franchises, my favorite characters were allways the Lizard, Killer--Croc, Reptile, Kaa, Cobra Khan, and the Serpent Society from Earths Mightiest Heroes.
But, just a little nitpick. Stegron is based on dinosaurs and its kind of long proven that dinosaurs are birds, not reptiles!
I saw Spider-Man No Way Home today loved it.
Lizard has always been my favorite Spider-Man Villain happy to see a video full of his history.
And I never knew Stegron was Lizard related although guess when you think about it that makes sense
Are you going to do history of lesser known characters like Rom_the_Spaceknight, Ultimo, Inferno, Victorious, Flerken, Blacklash, Deathlok, Elematrix, Vertigo, Titanium_Man, Crimson Dynamo, Dreadknight, Hypnotia, Blizzard, Quasar, Starbrand, Nightmask, Night_Trasher, Starhawk, Fixer, Whirlwind, Chemistro, Whiplash, the Controller, Madam_Masque, Count_Nefaria, Century, Lore and Technovore?
I really enjoy the way you do your origin storys they’re awesome if you ever get a chance would you mind doing the origin story’s on Pre recon beyonder, Magneto and Thanos
Make Spider-Man Origin Part 2 and Captain America origin videos please!
Happy New year merry marvelite!

Can you do history of the Living_Brain, the Elementals, Cyclone, Hydro Man, Molten Man, the Spot, Sandman, Century, Lore and Technovore?
Can you do history of Master Pandemonium, Chthon, Mephisto, Dormammu, Clea, Brother_Voodoo, Shuma-Gorath, Nightmare, Baron Mordo, the Ancient One, Agamotto and Pkzkrfmknna along with Firestar and Vance_Astrovik AKA Justice?
Awesome I always love the lizard and you covered all the main big story lines You did mention the story about morbius and the lizard when they did battle and another story called vampire on the loose
This is the bestest ... nuff said
Great channel Merry Marvelite! Happy new year!!!

great vid! may i suggest the villain Steel Serpent?
Who's that?
@@jacelee8992 a Iron Fist villain
Thank you I really enjoyed this video
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
I always felt sad for Dr. Connor.
I love happy endings
I'm really glad things ended relatively well considering how much Curt has been through over the years.
I kinda want to see a slice of life miniseries of the lizard especially right now that he’s in full control of his lizard form and being a professor and all
Once again so much amazing knowledge!! Why didn’t he just ask Charles Xavier for help locking the lizard in his mind?
Any plans on covering Howard the Duck?
I've always liked the character.
Happy new year everyone. Can you do history of the characters mentioned in this video?
Yeah, Calypso doesn’t have much love. She’s still dead too, I believe .
Wow
The movies make it look so simple
Dr. Kirk sold me car insurance 💚🦎
Good one!!
Happy new year 🎆🎉🎊🐲👍🎇
What was up with Kurt Connors turning back into the Lizard again and again even though he managed to take the cure?
The real answer: He’s a fairly popular and classic villain in the comics. The comic answer: The cures are never permanent.
Is Kurt Conners the Lizard the Marvel version of DC's Killer_Croc and Man_Bat put together?
Maybe Man-Bat, Killer Croc was a man with a very rare skin condition and I dont think Croc can control reptiles like Lizard can
Killer Croc’s initial appearances were so cool. He was being set up as a new mob boss in Gotham. He is essentially what Bane become. But recons and new stories have turned him into more a C-list thug character with a more pronounced animal side which is a shame
Max Dillon: Dr Curt Connors. He Was A Scientist At Oscorp When I Worked There. A Brilliant Scientist. Until He Turned Himself Into A Lizard. Then He Tired To Turn The Whole City Into Lizards. It Was Crazy.
Can you do a video on Vermin? Of Spider-Man villains he's one of the few I don't really know about
I appreciate Ditko's art as much as the next guy, but renditions of the Lizard without a proper snout always look "off" to me, even if that was his original design.
I definitely prefer the snouted Lizard.
Was the Lizard from Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies great and what do you think he was like when he makes a comeback in Spider-Man No Way Home?
Can you do a video for Damage Control? Happy New Year!
If Curt just wanted his arm back, why didn't he just get a prosthetic one?
It wasn't just that, he wanted all amputees to be able to regrow their limbs, and Prosthetic arms back when the Lizard's origin was first made weren't very good
My boy right there in the thumbnail
Not every character looked their best in the early 90s but that Lizard design was top tier.
As a true believer to your channel.... Make a Midnight Sons origin Story mate ....🙌🏼😉
Lizard by far the best spiderman villain 🦎🦎🐊🐊💪💪👍👍 lizard by far the best spiderman villain he is the number 1 🐊🐊🦎🦎💪💪👍👍
Sweet 👍
Billy Russo/Jigsaw video please! After re-watching the Punisher series on Netflix, I really want to know more about him if you could, please!
My question about The Lizard, was always what kind of professor wears purple pants? Him and Bruce Banner both 🧐
Because they are villainous (ish) characters. In early publishing days, colours were limited by printing technology. You’ll tend to see heroes with primary colours and villains in more secondary colours (like green and purple). Helps recognise who they are at a glance. Think about Green Goblin, Lex Luthor, Mysterio and lots of others
Who do you think would win between Morbius and the Lizard since they are both scientists who experimented on themselves?
I think Morbus since he's a puso-vampire
They met in Morbius's debut, and Morbius kinda kicked Lizard's ass. Lizard is one of my favorite Spidey villains, so I hate to say it, but that's what happened, and there were really no mitigating factors favoring either side.
I wish Spiderman can help Curt Connors and his cloned family to live in a normal life again.
What the hell is the art starting at 10:50 ? If I open a comic book and see that, it goes straight into the trash bin.
Thats today comics quality 😂
I ADORE the artist Christian Scott Sava. His art is wonderful. But he was trying something new here and it just doesn’t stack up with his otherwise exemplary portfolio
His wife, Martha...
WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?!?!
Do you think you can do the orgin of hobgoblin
Which movie or TV show do you think did a great job in portraying the Lizard? What do you think is the best thing about him in the Comics and in any other media?
I think Spider-Man TAS did the best job with the Lizard especially with episode 1
I remember him from the old cartoon from the 90’s, so.
Happy Scaly New Year.
Despite the mistake he's made Dr Connor's Is a good hearted Man I wish He never for bad luck
Remember kids when performing experiments don't wear purple pants, or you to could get turned in to big green monster!
Any plans for The Winter Guard??
at least he can still nbe with his clone family
Ok wtf is this art style 11:10
That's from the early 2000s
I ADORE the artist Christian Scott Sava. His art is wonderful. But he was trying something new here and it just doesn’t stack up with his otherwise exemplary portfolio
Can you please tell the story of Owen Reece
That comic taking about Yith, that's all 3D models. Has to be fake. Right? .... right?
It's called Spider-Man: Quality of Life and is indeed quite real.
@@MerryMarvelite it looks so bad!
I ADORE the artist Christian Scott Sava. His art is wonderful. But he was trying something new here and it just doesn’t stack up with his otherwise exemplary portfolio
Can you do an origin on Man-Thing?
The Lizard 🦎 is one of spider-man classic villain.
My favourite classic Spider-Man villan, the movies did him dirty (after TASM1)
1st time asking for green goblin origin please
That was quite a “tail” and pretty high on the “scale.”
Swathe lizard be victorious!!
What do you think the MCU version of the Lizard would be like and which actor do you think should play him in the MCU timeline?
That artwork on the thumbnail that wouldn't be Todd McFarlane right
Yeah, that image is from his run on Amazing Spider-Man with David Michelinie.
@@MerryMarvelite I knew it
jackal or hobgoblin eventually?
Killer croc beat the lizard in DC vs. Marvel about 15 years ago
Cyber, the Wolverine villain.
What the hell is happening at 11:00 lol
Happily ever after
I wonder if he and Bruce would become friends
It's *Morbin* Time
The lizard has a better healing factor than wolverine and sabertooth.
So he come from monster to control it with zombie family ? Comics writers very smoking with this story.
Marvel just loves them some alliteration, don't they?
lmao what was that horrible cgi comic bit?
If I were Sony, I would carte blanche Marvel what ever character they wanted. Then I'd do nothing but count up the profits.
Im good at business.
He’s not one of my favorite Spider-Man villains , because I’m not really a big fan of those “Bad guys who are close to the hero, but have a separate villainous personality who is evil.”. We also already have that with other Spider-Man villains like Miles Warren and Harry/Norman Osborn. He does have some good stories, though (Amazing #365 is one of my all-time favorites, and I grew up with The Torment story.). I didn’t know that Curt served as a medic in the war, AND that he had a history with the Man-Thing, though! Cool stuff. Thanks for doing the video.
To be fair, Lizard filled that role first, though that certainly doesn't prevent other examples from arguably doing it better.
Of course he’s from Florida
Didn't the Lizard actually EAT Billy?
Sorry I accidentally disliked. Great vid
