    Im going to have to say straight natural! Curly causes my hair to create more breakage, pain from detangling, tangles & knots🤨! Versus when my hair is straight I can brush it daily and no breakage, no tangles, no pain😊❤.

    I am a curly natural ... for now. I mostly leave my hair alone and it has really grown long. I will be at waist-length by the end of this year.🤗 However, the day I will get my hands on the RevAir, I will become a permanent blowout natural 😆so I can wear my hair out more. I don't care for a silk press because of the risks involved with direct excessive heat. I also don't care for the limp, flat, thin hair look from a silk press.

    I used to be a blow dried natural. My coils always reverted back but I still incurred heat damage. Heat damage shows up in other ways…excessive dryness, brittleness and a lack of natural sheen. I deep conditioned, used heat protectant, oils and grease. The damage just takes time to appear, it doesn’t happen overnight. Notice a lot of straight naturals with length first grew their hair long by keeping it coily but stretched with twists, plaits, etc. I now keep my hair coily and curly but stretched and never use a blow dryer. When I need to heat stretch, I use a flat iron after my hair has air dried from a wash. And that is ONLY once or twice a year to trim my ends. My hair is now the longest, thickest and fullest it’s ever been! So I’m a coily BUT stretched natural. 😅💕 That’s my experience. Good topic! I love to hear what works for others.

    I’d say a stretched natural if your hair is very coily. not straight though but by twisting braiding or banding your natural curly/ coily hair.

    When I was a straight natural, and knew nothing about taking care of my hair, it never grew past my shoulders. When I went curly, (and still knew nothing about proper haircare) it grew to TBL. It was super damaged though so I chopped a lot off and am starting again. This time I'm incorporating wearing my hair both curly and straight as desired.
    And sure, every day styling of straight hair is "easier" but the effort it takes to get there, as someone who has to wash my scalp at least weekly is just not worth it when I can braid or twist my hair weekly and basically set and forget for a whole week.
    Anthony Dickey speaks about heat sealing in your products after during the blowdry process. IDK if I believe that either, but he is a professional that talks about it.
    SSKs are the worst😅
    Shrinkage actually makes so much sense when you consider the climate of Africa. When it's super hot, it's nice to wear your hair fully out and not be sweating because it's hot and laying on your back😃
    I always do an olaplex treatment before I blowout my hair just to be on the safe side. (But tell me why it always has to rain on the day I want to straighten my hair 😭)
    Ah, it's me, doing 50 styles just because I can, straight curly, or in between. Someone tell me to keep my hands out of my hair.
    NaturalReign is a great example of length retention while curly.

    Straight natural more these days. I am loving it, it's easier to manage. I am braiding my hair down more and I realized after many years, my hair loves Straight and Sebrum.🤷
    My hair "do not like oils, especially not on the scalp.🤦I thought I loved curly natural, but I had to align myself with my hair.🤭😂 Working out better these days. I wash air dry, and straighten and do twist outs and braids. ✔️✔️ Thanks, this video was very informative sis.❤

    I love you point about chemical free. I will say though, its very easy to be chemical free with your hair in its natural state. In fact, I find it easier. Let me explain lol. First thing, I dont use commercial shampoo. I stick to vinegar, white or ACV. Note that white is, i think stronger so you may need to dilute it more AND I dilute depending on what my hair needs. So if I need a deeper cleanse, like after I go to the beach and my hair dries but looks whiteish, I'll mix it stronger. My reason i for this is the idea of putting a bunch of chemicals on my scalp which I hate and also the fact that shampoos make my hair feels terrible, unless its a low sulphate or moisturizing. However, the all have chemicals. since ive been doing this, I dont need conditioner cause my hair is not being stripped of its natural oils and my scalp's PH is not being disrupted. Also, this might surprise some people but vinegar actually helps with detangling.The only thing I use in my hair is olive oil and water and glycerin (Thanks to you) Glycerin is as you say 'a game changer'. I dont use products because I dont really like having a ton of stuff on my hair. However, if it comes to it, I might experiment with gel or something to get a sleeker look that is if i cant find a chemical free solution ( I think flaxeed gel could do it, but im yet to try it. Ive also thought of defining my curls like in a wash and go, but i just hate the idea of having all those creams and gels on my hair.

    • @CoilyDiaries
      @CoilyDiaries  2 месяца назад +1

      great points here. ACV IIS powerful and it does cleanse and helps close the cuticle hence easier detangling. I worry about how much is the right dilution due to its ability to eat at the cuticle. do you check the PH of your dilution? also how often do you cleanse with ACV

    • @deahsarnosse4446
      @deahsarnosse4446 2 месяца назад

      @CoilyDiaries yeah I've read that it can do that. Lol I actually don't do a test atleast not with any kind of tool. Sometimes I'll just spray it on my skin or, I'll often taste it (I know!) to see how strong it is. I often don't mix it very strong and also. My hair most if not all the time, has oil and sebum on it so for it to penetrate through all of it to damage my hair strands is unlikely, I think...and again I don't mix it very strong unless I have a lot of stuff on my hair that I need removed which is rare and even then, I only leave it on long enough for it to cleanse what I need it to cleanse. I prefer to reapply if I think I need more cleaning than leave it on too long. Also, if it's burning your scalp, it's too strong. This happened to me one time when I just started.
      When your chemical free it doesn't need to be strong. I can tell how strong it is and how safe I think it is by tasting it.
      Ill use it anytime I do a wash that's not a cowash and that's typically every month or close to 1 month. Between my last wash and the upcoming wash I'll cowash if I feel like it.

      @@deahsarnosse4446 great reasoning! Love that we have options

    • @deahsarnosse4446
      @deahsarnosse4446 2 месяца назад

      @CoilyDiaries also ,I think it's harmful if it's being done very very frequently back to back like every week or multiple times in a week....if it's not diluted properly. With acv or white vinegar, if it burns even if it's a little I dilute it more. If I put it on my scalp and it burns I wash it out immediately.

  • @msylvini
    @msylvini 2 месяца назад

    I think as women we need to find our signature look and refine it. There are pros and cons to everything in life!
    I think that the options of wigs and weaves and braids and relaxers and afros has given us the illusion of endless choice but when I look at my Indian/Caucasian/Asian friends their hair is limited to a single state. Yes, they can cut it or colour it or curl it but that is on occasion or a one time change. Not this weekly/monthly shenanigans that we do here on Planet 4 😅
    As much as I love the look of an afro and high puff, the breakage and tangling I experience as a fine strand girlie on wash day is a nightmare! Keeping my hair in a stretched state with braids and twists has helped me minimise breakage and retain length. Even the amount of time I spend on wash day is cut down to 1 hour.
    Once I hit my goal length I'm doing the most from blow outs to flat irons to flexi rods and rollers. I really don't get the obsession with maintaining your curl pattern coz gurl... wet hair is one pattern, braid/twist out, bantu another pattern, afro another one...
    I've learned to look after my hair. I know what she likes. I know what she doesn't like. I know what she needs and once she's where I want her, you can't tell me nothing 💁🏾‍♀️ If the heat damage police come calling, imma flick my silk press across their faces like Barbie as I walk away hair swanging
