I knew you wouldn't have heat damage. I've been blow-drying my hair for 3/4 years and my hair is still as curly as ever. You'd only get heat damage if you didn't protect your hair properly or excessive use of heat.

What I have learned that there's no such thing as "heat protectant." With heat hair is being "fried." Heat protectant is only good for lubrication. Using the right amount of heat for your hair type is the heat protectant.

@@CoilyDiaries I've had my hair straightened without the so-called "heat protectant" before heat protectant became a thing. It's a marketing ploy.
Hair that is clean, well conditioned and lightly oiled or greased was all that was needed back in the day and no one spoke of heat damage unless the hair was burnt lol.
The consumers are being dupped by the merchants that create products based on their insecurities not necessarily on what they personally need. Hamitic women in the US have been getting their hair pressed for years and this talk about "heat damage" and curls/coils not coming back after washing and conditioning wasn't brought up. Hair was layed😂 (The pressing comb and Marcel iron was the it thing to do to straighten hair back in the day)

I knew that your hair would revert given how well you prepared it for the heat. I remember you really went in with those heat protectants 😂. I don't remember if you used castor oil beforehand or not.
I know that castor oil also holds its own notably well against heat, making it quite protective, given that it apparently begins to undergo thermal decomposition at around 200°C (392°F) which is plus or minus the boiling point of Dimethicone, and slightly higher than that of Cyclomethicone (two of the most commonly used silicones in heat protectants).
Given how well you layered those, plus used protein treatment, and low heat level for the soft press, I was not concerned at all.
