The average diameter, or thickness, of Asian hair is from 80 to 120 µm, compared to 65 µm in Caucasian hair and 55 µm in Black hair. Our hair grows upwards because it is lightweight. It only drops when you grow it very long. It is also the finest hair among all races. Fine hair is also the softest. But other people think that we have hair that is hard to the touch.

All of this information is on point, I stopped the serial use of combs and brushes and single strain knots have been annoying but I came to the conclusion this is just a character of 4c hair, salons like she said exist to finance their life it’s a job it’s their salary. So now I avoid salons like the plague. Thanks for this interview

She’s absolutely right! I love the minimalist mindset applied to hair care! Why should we be following the “natural care experts” when we know our own hair because we’ve been dealing with it ourselves for years! If I like the look and feel of my hair, who cares about the standards of others??

Your so right, I don't use combs or trim my hair.they are the enemy when it comes to 4c hair,we don't need to use combs ,our fingers will get the job done. I stop using combs 4mos now and I see a big difference in the thickness and less spit ends in my hair,I love my hair and the way it looks now, because this works for me.

52:53 to be honest, could it be subconsciously that stylists just don’t want to have to deal with very long 4c hair, so they promote frequent cutting? My hair has grown to waist length and at this length, stylists acted very overwhelmed. Another thing is, if we wear our hair curly, split ends don’t really matter unless it starts looking thin.
I just cut off 4-5 inches due to damage from stylist combing so I’m on a new journey. I didn’t need to chop necessarily, but I didn’t want to keep having to wear a bun. Ready to go back to doing my own hair at home in comfort and ease.

Back when i had a perm stylists would say see through ends needed to be clipped but really it was because my hair was not even. If the back of my hair is 6 inches long and the top is also 6 inches long...ofcourse they are going to end in different areas. Her hair is beautiful!

Honesty will always win, over the hypocritical views, of greedy people, who only care about making money. They don't care about the health of the hair.
It affects every area of a woman's life mentally, psychologically, physically, even spiritually.
We listen to everyone but, not ourselves. This brings down our self esteem/ confidence.

I actually felt bad and wished I knew the things I knew 21 years ago, or that my mum had the knowledge I have now. I would have had really good and healthy hair. Imagine finally learning the right way to care for my hair after 21 years of being on earth. But I just told myself, "better late than never". At least I now know the right things to do. And if I ever have a daughter in the future, her hair wouldn't go through the same things mine went through, cuz now I know better.

I’m loving this conversation. Thanks for sharing, ladies. There’s much I need to unlearn: like being scissor happy and combing my hair. I need to start trusting people who’ve succeeded in doing it. Ditching the comb is going to be the most difficult. I know I need to, but it’s just so time consuming to finger detangle. Lord give me the patience.

I started finger detangling January this year almost 4 months now. And it was really hard and time consuming back then. But now that I've gotten the hang of it, it doesn't take that much time at all. Check out advice on RUclips from women that finger detangle. One thing thay helps is a product with a lot of slip. For me, I only detangle on wash days, and I make use of okra water, after which you can do loose twists and rinse it off in the loose twists. Just do your research and do what works best for you. Eventually, you'd get used to it. Just remember, when God created us, he didn't create combs. And he obviously didn't expect us to suffer with tye hair he gave us. So just trust the process. Eventually, it'll get easier, especially if you take good care of your hair.❤

Very good discussion, recently i was removed from a huge natural hair FB group because i said that i don't wash my hair when in longterm protective styles. I used to keep them in for 6 weeks and by the six week you could not even tell that it's 6 weeks hair so clearly that worked for me. On the other hand i tried washing my hair while in mini twists following advice from that same person that removed me from the group and my hair was extremely matted. I was very surprised that such groups do not respect what works and what does not work for the other person and are forcing certain narratives or things that work for them on other people

Great video! For me I don’t even know what type of hair I have or what porosity I have because I feel it’s not accurate the way they do the water test. So far so good my hair is growing nicely this coming May will mark my three years since I went natural. My goal was to have enough hair to at least do a ponytail to my surprise my hair keeps growing to a point I didn’t think it could. Now I have new goal to bra length 😂 because I am following you Coily Diaries now I am twisting natural and adding glycerin to my routine.

I agree with the speaker. If trimming the ends is a must to help Black hair to grow, how do you explain people growing their hair in locs. I think low manipulation, no heat and protective styling is key.

One of the best interviews I've seen ! And so true some of our hair won't be shiny .. plus what said on trimming is soo true ! Its just we dont care our hair also... so right about when we cut it it still grows that shape i see it the same day i trim after i twist it the shape shows back.....I have so much to say but she said it all so well !! Thank you both for this I have to make time to rewatch this

Precious, has said it all. We should be able to embrace our natural hair the way it looks. I don’t trim anymore but I dust the ends of my hair when it needs it. I don’t feel happy each time I trim my hair. It just makes me feel sad and no matter how much I trim my hair, the ends grow out the same. That how God designed it to be. Who am I to condemn it. I used to hate my hair in the past but now I love my hair, I embrace it. My hair is my glory, my pride and my confidence and my beauty.I thank God for giving me such an amazing , unique and beautiful hair. ❤. Thank you my sister for such a wonderful content. God bless you and your family.

I’m very happy I found Precious. Not only does she have similar hair type to me, she also has a similar face shape (Kibbe Dramatic Classic).
AlyArt (another RUclipsr) advised sculpted styles look best on Dramatic Classics, but didn’t have specific imagery for 4C hair types (although she did have diverse images). Now I can look at Precious and replicate her styles. I don’t use added hair or straighten my hair so she is very helpful.

That is one of the reasons I never liked going to a hair salon because they have gotten away from personal treatment and started doing one cut one style for all no matter what texture of hair you have... I don't believe they know what split ends look like, and when they don't they are cutting off your growth every time you sat in their chair .... truth be known they are there just to make your hair LOOK PRETTY .
