    Hi guys,
So a few of you are a little confused about me saying not to use heat when I preach moisturizing and opening the cuticle with heat🤔.
The heat we are avoiding is direct heat. That is, blowing, curling irons, pressing irons.
I still use indirect heat to deep condition and moisturize.
    Sorry for the confusion 😢❤

Can you do a demo video of washing and deep conditioning while hair is in cornrows? I’m concerned about getting the hair and scalp thoroughly clean and then properly deep conditioned without leaving product residue in the cornrows or on scalp.

Learned to do the cornrows for every 3 months for a year routine years ago.
Tip: Wash cornrows with a wig cap on. Use the pads of fingers and the wig cap to cleanse the hair and scalp. Take wig cap off to rinse hair thoroughly. Can use a braid spray and or curl activator gel like Softee to keep hair moisturized and hydrated. Be careful with using heavy conditioners while wearing cornrows if hair is prone to build-up.

Yeah I never had waist length hair until my natural hair journey. I went from 1 1/2 inches to waist length hair in about 3 1/2 years. My length retention was on point. Learned a lot. I finger detangled mostly and wore a lot of twists and infrequently wore my hair down or out. Then menopause started. Holy moly. My hair was coming out in clumps. Now I’m starting over my journey and learning about perimenopausal hair care.

man when you said hair grows quiet slowly i wanted to cry. 😄 i did 3 big chops because i have dense hair and was too lazy to deal with it since i was a chronic wig wearer at the time. My hair would have been so long by now. its been two years since my last BC and im at collarbone length. Some parts are short due to cutting ln accident when out protective styles. Now ive commited myself to being gentle with hair and patient with my density to reach waist length. im 5'8 do you think i can get to waist length from collarbone in 2 years.

Corn rows really helps me with just wigs I’ve noticed I blew dry it this time but I did a Avacado mask and then I did a hot oil treatment blowdreyed to stretch and then cornrows end am going to keep it braided for close to 8 weeks but next time maybe I won’t blow dry it but in the last I have noticed my hair grew a lot in this time frame of just wearing headband wigs and cornrowjng my own hair I also don’t anymore allow anyone to do my hair unless a special occasion and I make sure it’s a protective style.

Lovely commentary so far, I am learning a lot from you sister thank you.
For the sisters on this hair growth journey (like myself) Id like to share to remember to love it at it's short phase too... Our wooly rounded texture from a designer and artistic perspective is the most feminine of ALL because it most resembles a circle which is the most feminine shape. Other cultures their hair is straight and angular which is more masculine, again from an artistic view. Do this journey cause you WANT to have long hair not bc you have to. Loving your hair at all phases helps the growth process go faster and the hair grows more beautifully 😊 Peace!

I am about 13.5-14 inches and approaching 4 years from a bc (March 31, 2020). I had about 2.5 inches at the top and MAYBE 1 inch around my sides and back. Given that, I think it will take me about 6-7 years to rea h waist-length and I am OK with that. My hair is healthy and I FINALLY have a regimen that works!!! FYI I am low-med density and I feel my hair becoming more heavy as I stay the course!!! You are a GEM SIS!!!

I love watching videos of hair tips, even when 90% dont work for me.
What ive found works is washing my hair with conditioner mixed with oil oncea week; then using a moisturizing lotion in my hair straight after, letting it partly airdry, then going in with a blowdryer and comb to strech it, after doing one pass with the straightener on the lowest heat, to prevent hair tangling. I finish😮 off with coconut oil all over my hair and tips, and rosemary and peppermint oil on tge roots and scalp. I maintain this by wearing my hair in a claw clip most days, and put it in two braids at night under a satin bonnet. My all i do through the week is add moisturising lotion abd oil every other day for a week till next wash day. I do a cleansing shampoo wash once a month.

Hi, new subscriber here. I have been binge watching your videos. Thank you so much for all the valuable information. I am a 71 yr black woman living in The Netherlands rocking a TWA (thanks to chemotherapy). My hair is growing though! Have been natural for almost 14 yrs but never got my hair past bra strap length.
At the moment my hair is long enough to do finger coils. I use a mixture of a leave-in conditioner with glycerin as the third ingredient, aloe vera gel and seal with Castor oil. Today I did my finger coils on freshly washed and conditioned hair. At night I wear a bonnet. Will check the progress in 6 months time. Don’t like braids or corn rows. I will stick to finger coils and do twists when my hair is long enough. Am considering joining the length retention challenge but not sure if it will be worth it as I have a TWA. Thanks again. Love your approach on dealing with natural hair.

Love this advice i dod this without knowing and my hair grew. Then i dyed it and it dropped off but im starting again. Leaving my hair alone really helps. I also would wash it in cornrows and then take it out re plat then put on my wig. My hair grew. But dont do it too long because my hair also matted one month when i didnt wash and take out the cornrows. Phew thank god i saved it. So if i wash in cornrows i take it out and re-plat my cornrows after the wash.

you don’t need it to have hygral fatigue in order to do a protein treatment. Afro hair needs protein often. keep it at 4-6 weeks

I have eczema and need to get to my scalp. I can push my wash to about two weeks. By then the itching and skin build up is unbearable. Would twist under a headband wig and co-washing the twist every 2 weeks, and then redo twist after 3 months. Would this till work? I may do single braids, no hair added since it will last longer and get less frizz. I plan to moisture every 3 days too.

    Hi, new subbie here
Discovered your channel about a week ago and Im currently trying to watch all your recent videos cos you really give amazing advice that have been giving me a new opinion about my natural hair ❣️
i also want to do this challenge of retaining 4-5inches per year cos I've been natural since 2020 but my hair isnt upto my chin yet :(
I've confirmed that my hair does grow ½inches (sometimes less) every month however my hair breaks alot
I have thin, fine, low density high porosity hair and my hair is always dry
for high porosity hair that gets dry alot, would you recommend cornrows, braids or twist to start this challenge? And will you recommend i keep it for three months or less? I'm afraid I'll experience lots of breakage if i keep a style in for upto 3 months
I'm trying to know my hair better this year but i don't want to have drawbacks as I've had these past years
I'll keep an eye out for other of your videos
Thank you for not gatekeeping what has been working for you
    God bless♥️

“Hair growth is genetic but length retention isn’t” Yes please remind the people in the back lol.👏🏾👏🏾
I have high shrinkage, very tight coiled, delicate 4c hair. None of the women in my close family have long hair. Genetically, I don’t have any advantages to growing out my hair either. Hence why I have to aggressively protective style to retain length. I still believe it’s possible for me to grow my hair long (despite never having long hair before in my life), but I’m realizing it is definitely more work, sacrifice, and patience than other hair types.
Tbh it does feel unfair because other hair types don’t have to do as much work and keep their hair hidden for extended periods, for it grow long, but it is what it is. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I’m tired of not seeing the progress I want to see, so I’m going to do what I need to do for MY hair and genetics.

I needed to respond to you because i uave been through this path before
5 yrs ago i big chopped for personal growth. I began learning how to grow natural hair. Because of so much info on RUclips, i tried countless methods and products and for the first 3 years, my hair was stagnant
2023 i took a different approach, and slowed it down to just a basic approach which included Coily Dairies 3 month method though for me, twists are my preference to cornrows
In case you're interested in learning more about my basic approach, let me know
