I think the biggest issue with RUclips University is the fact that everyone's hair is different and so are their regimens. We will never be able to agree on things because we are all so different. Thanks for this video btw! It was very insightful!
Every thing you said 😅 My routine is very simple now: 1. Shampoo/clarify every 2-4 weeks, 2. A good leave in conditioner, 3. Hot oil treatments 2xs a month (olive oil, argan oil, avocado oil) 4. I Keep my hair in twists or stretched underneath my wigs. My hair is thriving. I cannot leave my hair loose.
I can't leave my hair loose, it's not obedient enough for me lol. That's why I love my hair in twists or finger coils (wash and go here and there but they take too long) if it's not in braids
But what’s the point in growing your hair long if you never wear it out? if you’re always twisting it and putting it up in a so-called safe style. Maybe it’s cultural, but for me I love hair down on the shoulders or below. I don’t like puffy hair, there’s no reason why I should to go through all the trouble of numerous DIY’s to wear. A wig is pointless. at least for me. I know your fund of your hair, but it just would never work for me. I keep thinking how beautiful it would look if you had something to soften it so that you could wear it on your shoulders. Well God bless you I’ll keep looking.
@@clairstberryNot everyone prefers to wear their hair nor is that the only purposeful reason to have long hair. It may also be adverse to wear it "out" all the time. Everyone is different.
For my natural hair I don't need much and its growing just fine. I use my hand to detangle/comb I don't style it as much,i don't really care about shrinkage.i wash it whenever i feel it's dirty I keep my hair free AND IT GROWS simple as that
Right said. Shrinkage is real and I think that's where people get confused and assume their hair isn't growing cos it doesn't look longer or bigger as they think. Shrinkage just means very curly HEALTHY hair ❤
They said don’t use grease, well, I have tried them all, grease and water with some leave in conditioner is what works for me. Dax grease to be exact. I came right back there
Well said, and I just subscribed. To start with: There's no way I'm washing my difficult to manage, long 4A/4C type hair every week. I wash and deep condition once a month, and moisturize just once a week with leave-in conditioner, Shea butter, and hair milk. I also massage the scalp with my homemade rosemary leaves and black seed oil (also weekly). My hair is doing great - I have had no regrets!
I’m with you although my hair is very fine it’s curly and wavy so it’s difficult and hard to deal with but washing it every week I’m not doing that to each its own
@@saludosalsol It's a form of lightweight moisturizer. I use Mielle Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk (for all hair types). I hope I answered your question. Take care!
I’ve been natural since 1998, I’m a straight DIYer and I completely agree with you on ALL points! Learn what makes your hair and scalp “happy” and stick to it if you are seeking health and growth. Once I did this, my hair took off and now is thigh length. Keep up the great work! PS - I just love listening to your voice. It’s so calm and soothing. ❤❤
I had a teacher in Malawi when I was in highschool. Pure black no mix race whatsoever, she grew her hair Bellow her butt, just about the mid section of her thighs when she straighten it. We used to think she has some Indian blood in her or something. But no, pure black malawian woman. Never seen such long hair since.
The worst lie was about the grease, they made my hair don’t grow for years because I wasn’t using it. My hair NEEDS grease at the ends and a lot of people needs too.Now IM pasting bra strap. Thank God we are using again.
@@34july8Trust me, its good. People says it is artificial and bla bla bla, but petroleum comes from nature kkkk. We dont know what they put on "natural oils" to last so long. They dont last that long when you do it at home... shhhhhhh
I love this so much. ❤ After being scarred by RUclips university, I figured out some things on my own. Now my routine is simple, and my products are minimal with a huge impact. I’m loving my hair.
GURRRL!! I've got the scars to show for- rice water challenges, in particular! My hair has never recovered. I'm trying to nurture it to health this year.
@@kataber Whew! I’m so glad I never tried it. I wanted to, but never got around to it. I have no patience for diy hair products. I just wear twists now and pretty much leave my hair alone. I use a leave in and cream with hold. Done. Easy peasy.
@@twomisfithippies9790 Im done with YT hair challenges. My hair broke and freaked even my mum out (she asked if I was sick). Half my head was literally bald. It finally grew back..but the back of my head is soo sensitive now; any little thing- it breaks...it's only the back that's left to grow back completely. So, like you, am leaving the hair ALONE!
As a lifelong natural, I wholeheartedly agree w you! Ladies are doing WAY too much and making natural hair SO much harder than it has to be. It's not the products you use, it's the hair you have. The sooner that is understood, the simpler everything will become. I use V05 shampoo and leave in conditioners to style. When I need hold, a lightweight gel or mousse. I neither deep treat nor have a ton of processes. My hair is gonna be my hair regardless. And it's SO healthy. I keep it short bc I've had long curly hair my whole life and in my early 40s, I don't want to be bothered. Simplicity and acceptance is key! When the ladies are 10-15yrs in, they'll get it ❤
@@CoilyDiaries I think reprogramming from relaxed hair takes time. Most of the product junkie-ism and search for the best curl defining, frizz-free, shiny, curl elongating process comes from being used to having sleek relaxed hair. After years of trying many products and realizing what afro hair truly is, the A-ha moment will come. We have to remember most have no experience w their own natural hair. It's a whole new world. The mental process takes time. Sometimes I wanna say, "your hair isn't dry, that's what afro hair looks/feels like..." But I know most won't receive it. Of course there are exceptions, but overall I think that's the problem.
During chemotherapy i started making hair grease, mixing with aftican herbs and oils, became a self proclaimed tricologist, i watched peoples hair grow from bold but it worked for 80 percent of the people. Right now i am using my own oils and shampoos girl people are shocked of my 1 year post chemo hair. My point is use what is right for your hair. I sell both grease and oils with an african touch. Love from ESWATINI
Thank you for a very detailed video. Your hair is sooo beautiful and you look stunning. One size does not fit all. I did the big chop during the pandemic on my 4c hair. I watched a lot of videos and definitely spent a lot of money on expensive products that did not to work. Girl reality slapped me in the face real quickly. I decided to go back to old school products that my mom used on my head growing up. I use only 3 products a leave-in, blue magic Indian hemp with a little black castor oil mixed in. My hair has grown sooo much and it’s very thick like yours. I normally keep my hair braided under my favorite half wig but, I decided for the month of December NO wigs. I’m wearing my hair in a pull back huge puff and girl girl girl it FEELS GREAT true freedom to let my crown shine. Styling is still a challenge some days but this large beautiful kinky puff has a sister feeling wonderful about my natural hair journey. Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays ❤
Hey sis happy holidays to you too girl!! Thanks for sharing this with me! Honestly it’s a business to keep people confused and coming back for advice/ products that don’t work and the loop continues 😢. Am glad you have worked out what your hair likes❤
I was watching for only 2 minutes and fell in love with your personality. I'm 59 and also I followed someone else trend and I'm now saving my hair with oils butter and grease😊.
I'm old school ,simple is better for me . I was wondering why have we made maintaining our natural hair soooo complicated 🤔 it's absolutely ridiculous so I started doing me ,me meaning simple for me is better and thank you for this video we need to keep loving ourselves and not becoming so judgmental with each other and just keep it moving.
I agree with everything you just said. Just to add 1 more thing that, in my opinion, we need to be more aware of: The very popular tendency of people to come out here and use the words "scientifically proven" before making a very misleading statement. Yes, science has proven many things through research results. The problem arises when we misinterpret scientific results, jump to inaccurate conclusions, preach them as facts, and make them trend.
Speak it sis❤!!! Love this one. People use it to sell their idea and convince others. I have seen this a lot with Rosemary oil 😬 being sold as the miracle hair growth oil as “scientifically proven” negative g the fact it’s supposed to be medical grade Rosemary oil 😭
@@CoilyDiaries LabMuffinScience did a video on the science paper about Rosemary oil and turns out it's full of holes too.😭 RUclips videos had us doing the mooost!
I like it! You go, girl! My hair is too fine, soft and easily to break! I "wish" I had big strong hair like that! Everyone can't follow the same hair routines! What works for some dont work for all!
With fine baby type hair it's best not to manipulate it a lot. I was always cutting mine but I'm wearing wigs as a 'protective style.' I mainly wear synthetic in all different colours. If I have to wear natural wigs that need as much styling as my own hair , what would be the point. I don't pretend they're my own hair. In the same way I love wearing hats , they're just a style accessory. My hair is growing happily now after many years of dissatisfaction because I'm leaving it alone. ❤
This is so liberating. I started my natural hair journey during the pandemic and don't intend to look back. It's growing steadily but there's too much conflicting info out there. Thank you
Yes. When I first went natural, I tried many products from watching natural hair videos. Probably spent hundreds of dollars trying different products over the years until I learned what my hair flourished from. I tried using hair gels, which is commonly recommended for 3b/3c hair, and it was awful! Hair butter works better for me, along with washing my hair at least bi weekly. I haven't seen any videos recommending no butters or oil, thank goodness, although I'd definitely would have dismissed that one. My hair would be dry as a broom if I did that. Ultimately I totally agree with your surmise that there's no one remedy that we all fit on. To each his own, I guess
You're absolutely right. What may work for me may not work for others. My hair is natural oily. I find that when I apply more oil, I need to wash it often. My hair is natural, thick, and long, but it's using the simplest hair product and combing and brushing it every day. Thank you for sharing your video with us. Stay blessed❤
I have at least 3 different textures/curl patterns: 1)Crown of head/3b 2)Sides and back of head/3b-4a, 3)Around my face/4b-c. I live in a climate with 4 seasons. Dry Winters and Humid Summers! I have found that technique can impact as much if not more than products. Fall/Winter technique: Protective twist outs w/head wraps. Wash day: apx 2 weeks. Spring/Summer: Wash-n-go’s. Water rinse w/conditioner & leave-in: every 2-3 days. Full Wash day with Shampoo, Protein treatment and Deep Conditioning: Weekly. No matter the season, I have figured out how to minimize tangles, protect my ends and keep my strands hydrated and moisturized. It takes a lot of paying attention but it’s worth it!!! I’m 2 yrs natural with amazing hair growth (above ears to below shoulder blades!). Great video!!! ❤️
I was at this point of having to wash often as well for the "scalp on fire" issue so I sought a dermatologist. Turns out my scalp was going through major inflammation that led to fungi to grow. This was all a result of recent stress that had just taken place in my life. She prescribed a shampoo and Now that the fungi is under control, I only need to wash biweekly or even monthly. Just thought I'd share to potentially help you 😊
I totally agree with everything you said, i have 2b and 2c hair and the most important thing i learned over the years is to listen to my hair... everyone's hair is different so is their routine.... patience and consistency and moderation is also important when it comes to diy hair remedies...it shows result with time
I learnt this the hard way, you are spitting the truth. I did everything RUclipsrs said and became a product junkie . I was doing 10 steps in my washing routine. Did a lot of DIY's , washed my hair every week, girllllllllll, it kept me stuck at the same length for 6 years. Only when I simplified my routine and did what my hair likes, I started to see growth. i wash my hair once a month, my hair thrives a lot in when it is left alone.
I am natural…did a big chop this year. Started with coils - which I loved when it was short. As it grew out, I started to feel that the curly natural twa look didn’t fit me and isn’t my everyday preference. I find it hard to maintain unfortunately. I’ve been a straight natural, worn protective styles, etc. It’s so much to avoid - heat, too much product, tension b/c the edges are thinning. Very frustrating.
I am so grateful for you. I do watch another sister as well named Natural Reign, so far I have seen that the honesty for the naturals who are new to the journey is key. I use very little, I trim as needed and not only do I oil my scalp, but I also make sure I condition and keep my hair moisturized with a defining cream or leave in conditioner. And expensive. And the styling 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽 my afro is wonderful. My hair is growing because I am consistent. Thank you again so much for your honesty. God bless and much success to you and the community.
I agree totally with everything you said, I wear my hair any hairstyle I choose on my natural hair, and believe it or not my hair is thriving just fine. My take on the natural hair community, do what works for your hair. 😊
Im a 2 week wash woman but yall know danggone well that'll stretch out up to 3 wks or even a month because of a style or being a bit busy from work. My scalp and hair is happy and thriving. 🙌🏾
I’m going to be honest, you scared me for a minute about the DIY comment as they have been working wonders for my hair. Then as you kept going I find myself agreeing with you. It is disingenuous how DIY hair growth oils and such are touted as if your hair won’t grow without them or as if it’s some kind of miracle cure for everyone. They’re not. The reason why my DIYs work for me is because I put in all kinds of time and energy into figuring out what my hair needed and what ingredients would fulfill those needs. You are just about spot on with everything. 👍🏾💜
I don’t use oil or butter because it causes painful cystic acne on my scalp and my hair broke off wherever the cyctic acne popped up. No oil no butter, hair grows fast its very thick its fine.
Sisi Im glad u mention painful cystic yoo!, Im going thru that pain right after moisturising with leave in conditioner, chebe hair food and restore hair moisturiser dont know what causes the scalp pain on the top side of my head,,,, what do u use instead to your hair? Thanks in advance my hair type is 4c natural
True talk indeed, one lady said listern to your hair, listern to your hair. Cause everyone has a different hair. Every week hair washing might be good for one but not me. Just take some time and study your hair to know what it needs.
Hi l came across your video you are so right about all the stuff they say about 4c hair. All of the things they say not to used my grand ma and mum has been using on my sister and me for years. I am going back to old school products. Thanks
I'm just in the beginning of my journey (1y) and I'm very happy to watch your video. I understand completely what U mean and I feel the same in everything that U said. I still have to understand my hair and I feel closer to them more and more. Thank U 🙏🏽
Just watched this video and so many things I really connected with. Water for moisture with additional mix, glycerin, Castor oil.. I mean this will be my go to channel. You have a standard for responding to all comments . I quickly scrolled through and damn you actually do. Y'all this is a channel worth paying for .
Im new to your chanel. I love simple, i love coconut oil omg. I love thick creamy leave in. Im a finger person, because you can feel when the tangle forms. Easy does it. More love for your hair, and your shoulders.😊 My hair grows better with less. Love my sisters. Thank you for your honesty i receive it. Bless you.
First to comment... merry Christmas from Denmark. Thank you so much for helping me safe my hair. Right now dry detangling is really revolutionising my strands 😊
My thing is, if it works do it! No matter how weird or strange it may sound to others! Sometimes you are better off keeping quiet about your concoction that is growing your hair 3 inches every night! ( im exaggerating for effect) However I remember at the beginning of the natural hair movement, coconut oil was in abundance and my hair never grew! And I remember talking about it online and I was attacked for it! We all know different now about coconut oil and its uses in our hair and its abundance in hair products. But once I stayed away from the coconut oil then my hair started to grow.
My hair is like a rice paddy, it needs moisture galore and greenhouse effect every night and that’s my hair. I’ve experimented A LOT with many products techniques and trends over the last 3/4 years to find what works for my hair & my hair without greenhouse effect is just not happy. Works for my hair perfectly. I still like to watch hair videos and I’m happy I found what my hair likes even if it’s not popular, never had infection or problems, change shower caps every night and I can sleep with my diy chebe concoction specific for my hair when it needs it overnight. I’m also very happy you mentioned that just because you’re in a protective style doesn’t mean you’re not enjoying your hair, spot on with that one❤❤
Appreciate you for sharing this in a public setting up knowing the vouchers that can eat you UP🙄! Now, green house effect every night sis? Sometimes bacteria builds up over years and you only start seeing the effects later on. You sound high porosity if your hair is drying out that often. Have you tried glycerin and castor oil? Also you can moisturize with heat for hydrated soft hair much love❤
Greenhouse Effect (for me: what the people who had Jheri Curls did) is still da truth! However, I do it nightly to save my pillow cases. Win-win for everything!🎉
I’ve been doing greenhouse effect for a little over a year, & am high porosity definitely . If it turns out in a good few years that GHE causes me infection I’ll have to deal with it then😂Glycerine seems to dry my hair & I tried it in many products & with just water. Butters/oils wise for me illipe butter is the real deal, it stops shedding and breakage in its tracks instantly! so I use that with a protein rich leave-in, water for moisture & GHE for happy hair
@@trinigul7339 nightly GHE😂saves the pillows, much better than a bonnet or a scarf alone, & cheaper than pillow protectors😂. I think I have so many shower caps, enough for changing each night for a fortnight😂😂
@@Chengetanayi_Dyirakumunda Oh chick, I get at least 5 RE-uses outta my caps cuz, like u, I switch up nightly. I keep Dawn in the shower. I gently lather the cap up (a little goes a long way) n gently rinse before I get out the shower or the next shower time. I think I purchased caps some time last year cuz the elastic or plastic MUST be damaged. 😂🤣😂
The only reason I stopped using grease is because I don't use sulfate shampoos (I really like clay and herbal shampoo bars) so it's difficult to wash out otherwise. But I still use some oils and butters. Twists and bantu knots have saved my hair and it thrives in them and updos compared to other styles. I found one hair creme and two deep conditioners I've stuck with for years now, only use a tangle teezer brush to detangle sometimes, remoisturize with herbal or oolong tea, use satin scarves and pillow cases, and I'm doing great!
You are so right. Each person's hair is different. I loved how moist and manageable and defined my hair was with glycerine! But somehow after only 1 month it relaxed my curl pattern to the point that I had to put a protein treatment and it did not revert back. So I leave that to others and it's ok! We are ALL different!
I honestly can say by trying to follow all these routines, all these products, all the advice is what sent me right back to the relaxer! 🤷🏽♀️ Thank you for the common sense advice!! 👍🏾
People gotta do what works for them! I cut protein out cuz at one point everyone was protein sensitive 😒 come to realize that my fine tailbone legnth hair needs protein to prevent my cuticle from wearing out at the ends. On the flip side im all for the no oils and butters. I have way better curl definition and my hair is fluffier with more volume. I also enjoy a weekly wash. If im working out a lot, I'll do a mid week cowash as well.
Once I started washing my hair every week, thats when my hair took off! But lets get this straight, i'm not spending all day doing it. But neither do I detangle, so I must be a white girl for definite then!😁 I don't believe its about lies. its about people not wanting to spend the time finding out what works for their hair. I understand everybody has different priorities. Unfortunately it is difficult because the science hasn't been done. Black hair is not like chinese hair, there's alot of variety going on.We also live all over the world in different climates So we have to do the work and find out what our hair likes! Thats what lock down was for!
Years ago in 2011, listening to all the natural hair trends. Having my hair trimmed lead to hair stylists cutting off nearly all my hair off, back then, my hair never grew back. Didn't realize l was stopping my monthly cycles and my hair didn't grow back as it used to. I grew very bitter at the stylist.
I think at the end of the day you have to be happy with your hair whether natural or processed. I go back and forth with my hair depending on my mood. I cut it off when I get fed up of it and through everything it grows back. I don't moisturize, I don't wash on any schedule (only when it bothers me), I don't care if it's natural or relaxed. I do what makes me happy with my hair and you what it grows when I decide to let it grow. And honestly I am using the same grease my mother used in my hair as a kid (and that's when i'm not being lazy cause honestly I don't even grease the hair for weeks on end until I need to comb it out). I believe the natural hair community have bamboozled the black community into segregating by hair type and scammed them out of so much money per month. Also I don't do protective styles, why have hair if you're just gonna cover it up is what I believe.
I follow this lady on RUclips whom I took her advice to wash my hair with African black soap and that took all my hair and my girls hair off. I was so hurt! Heat DAMAGED MY HAIR…. So I just do t do it at all no more. I subscribed. I believe everything you said.
I'm natural for 19 years, wash about every 4 to 5 weeks. I change products when my hair gets use to the same products. I have been using cream of nature scape and hair refresh. It's working fine. And the tingling on my scape feels wonderful.
"Thank you for creating a video on this important topic. I stumbled upon a video titled 'I Made My Hair Grow. Using...' and since then, I've been bombarded with similar content. It's frustrating and disheartening to witness the deception targeting people of color, by people of color. Misleading people who struggle with hair issues merely to increase channel traffic is unethical. Your video sheds light on this issue, and I appreciate your effort in bringing awareness to this deceitful practice.
I feel you. A few years a go I watched a video on rice water from a scientist then my RUclips was bombarded with hair videos on it, I watched and subscribed to a few for a while but just got me confused and annoyed. Then the craziness of cloves, then rosemary and mint due Mielle getting a new contract. I tried to change it by searching for more stuff I'm interested in, which worked but being a subscriber and watching 1 of their videos, brought all the hair videos back lol
Expensive products is a relative term these days. Products that used to be cheap are steadily going up in price, so they all going towards being expensive. But you are right, one size does not fit all.
Thank you, and love this! The products! I just recently discovered my hair prefers old school simplicity. Shampoo, rinse out conditioner, moisturizer, hair grease and twist it up. Day 3 maybe a little gel on the ends. Leave in alone for 2 weeks. Hoo rah! ❤
I have jumped on many bandwagons over the past 13 years. I did learn a lot from the 30 day detox. My biggest take aways were properly washing my hair and correct shampoo selection. Wash and gos made me lazy. I didn't give my hair the proper attention. I also don't like styling on dripping wet hair. You and curly chemistry are my go to this days. I still enjoy my favorite RUclipsrs, but you ladies are more aligned with my current hair needs. I don't have 4C hair, but your advice is perfect for my fine medium density 4a/4b mix.
Can you please share your mix because I have 3c 4 a hair and I believe I need something a bit lighter. I’m doing a year in mini braids challenge using humectant spritz and my diy oil blend to lock in the moisture.
You should do a channel for our type hair. I have fine 3c 4a medium density and seems most channels have 4c hair, I like to watch them cause I wish I had 4c but reality is I need content on this hair too
I am glad you spoke to the frequency of wash and style because I have found that leaving my hair alone has allowed it to flourish. I just try to maintain moisture. 2 months braid then my hair in plait style for a month then back to braids. Some times I take the braids down at a month and half and regret it for the next 2 weeks. I blow dry when I wash and that's it. I loved my hair before I relaxed it, when I relaxed it and once again I am natural
Beautiful hairstyle, love it. I'm from Southern Africa and never really seen women from the region with long natural hair. Lately I'm coming across quite a few and most seem to use DIYs. I currently use amla, I just put a little in my deep conditioner, im 43, dont know if that will be a barrier to my length goals. Been natural since I was 20 but cut a few times and never really knew how to care for my hair til around 2021
All the very best on your hair journey. Amla is a great addition to a routine but as usual, I recommend people to focus on a healthy routine, healthy habits and practises ❤
Nah chick! I thought that 2. I’m 56 and I have been loose natural for at least 15 years (I know my birthday. Not good with anniversaries). I FINALLY started ditching many RUclips tips, some times through sheer laziness, maybe about 2019. My hair is THRIVING today with cheap products, simplicity, mini twists, and a nightly shower cap (too many ruined pillow cases- if u know, u know). U will be fine if you do what works FOR YOU!
Thanks very much for bringing up this. There have been alot of lies about growing long hair with multiple ways which actually don't work at all, because if they did there would have been minimum use of wigs , braids ,etc... Another important fact is DNA, africans with long hair have traces of caucasians, whether they know it or not. The best ways which people need would be how to take care of different types of african hair because it's totally DIFFERENT while some people give us an impression that it's the same. Thanks for this ❤
I don’t know about the DNA comment. Also, hair might be slightly different but if we share a hair type texture, porosity and similar goals and lifestyles, the routines will be similar
Thanks so much started natural hair journey in 2017 after birth of my child I have dry hair buth now this video helps allot I know what to do now thanks🇳🇱💜
I think everything you say makes sense...one thing you forgot to mention is to not to try too much at one time. I went from Aloe Vera to okra water and lost all my hair..shot me back to square one.. stay with what works ❤
I agree with literally everything you have said. Like every damn thing 😂. I’ve watched a lot of videos and this one is thee best honestly regarding natural hair. Natural hair is not hard to deal with just have to find what works for you. For me simplicity is key. Pre poo wash, condition leave I’m and blue magic grease. Occasionally I use a gel. Depending on the style. When needed ors hair mayo for protein. We can grow hair like anyone else we do too much at times that’s what hinders the growth.
Thank you for your honesty so many lies just to gt u to buy ther product uts sad especially whn some people are hvin hair issues and looking for some type of growth
Hi Coily, I’m new here! … I really didn’t want to hear what you were saying even though I tapped on your video but girl … you said everything that we coily girls know to be true … FR! … THANKS ✌🏾💕
I wasnt using any oil in my hair, washing it every 6 days, wearing braids, it was sooooo tigh on my head... i hates it... im 36 and I just came into this understanding. Thank you
Onions juice work for me and my alopecia... Do what's work for you, I know laddies who only finger detangle and their hair are healthy and growing, I can't do without oil or butter. Do what's best for you!!!
I wash my hair weekly every saturday cause when I started my journey I wasn't a fan of scalp oiling everyday and my hair was so dry so once a week I had the chance to take care of my hair ( and if I only treated my hair every two weeks or in a month I wouldn't feel like the treatments would have results. Of course when i had braids I'd wait to take them out after 2 to 3 months, but since I don't braid my hair with extensions in years I have finally found the best regimen using the LOC method, and washing every week and if I have a protective style I wait 2 to 3 weeks to wash my hair. Also being healthy really makes a difference, when i started my new regimen I was doing treatment and eating a lot, i cut my hair like 3 fingers and it grew in 4 months 3-4 fingers that was the first time I saw my hair really etting longer and healthier cause I've always had very unhealthy hair cause of many health issues.
Lovely, you’ve hair is so fabulous. I love it! And agree with your hot takes 😀 So, here’s my conversional opinion 😉 I think that a lot of RUclips “influencers” get a bit befuddled on the definition of hair type, Think Thin, medium and course hair and then mix it up with curl patterns. This results in lots of products being recommended for the curl (singler) rather than the combo of type & curl.
Concerning the DIY you’re right. I decided to grow my hair in 2022 and got a lot of herbs after watching how to make hair growth oil on Yt. I did not see any changes 😭🤣. I wanted to give up but last I did a lot of research, watch different YT videos and that’s when I discovered I’ve been doing it wrong all this while. I ignored my scalp health and general health and was focusing on hair growth and also I was not doing things that would aid length retention. I corrected all my mistakes and I saw changes big one 💃. My hair is now thriving
Not many str addressing the fact that scalp health is very important to growth and so is good eating habits once healthy hair emerges then for that dead hair to remain in comes proper handling to keep it🎉
I think the biggest issue with RUclips University is the fact that everyone's hair is different and so are their regimens. We will never be able to agree on things because we are all so different. Thanks for this video btw! It was very insightful!
you are so right! I just wish people didn’t push their routines as the only way for others too
Same!! @@CoilyDiaries
So true!!!🤦🏿♀️ 'do it this way and your hair will never stop growing' how many times have I seen a video saying that lol
Thanks for sharing, the same medication doesn't work for everyone, we have to do what works best for us. Have a great 2024
😢
Every thing you said 😅
My routine is very simple now:
1. Shampoo/clarify every 2-4 weeks,
2. A good leave in conditioner,
3. Hot oil treatments 2xs a month (olive oil, argan oil, avocado oil)
4. I Keep my hair in twists or stretched underneath my wigs.
My hair is thriving. I cannot leave my hair loose.
love this ❤️
I can't leave my hair loose, it's not obedient enough for me lol.
For my natural hair
I don't need much and its growing just fine.
I use my hand to detangle/comb
I don't style it as much,i don't really care about shrinkage.i wash it whenever i feel it's dirty
I keep my hair free AND IT GROWS simple as that
you have it nails sis 🌺
I came right back there
Love it for you!!
Interesting...what is your hair type if I may ask
I have been using Dax since my mother used it on my hair 57 years ago. It still works great on my hair.
I still use grease but I just use the sulphur 8 for my psoriasis
I used to say 4c but it’s more 4 B high porosity hair type
Well said, and I just subscribed. To start with: There's no way I'm washing my difficult to manage, long 4A/4C type hair every week. I wash and deep condition once a month, and moisturize just once a week with leave-in conditioner, Shea butter, and hair milk. I also massage the scalp with my homemade rosemary leaves and black seed oil (also weekly). My hair is doing great - I have had no regrets!
love this for you sis! thanks for subscribing 🌺
What is hair milk?
I’m with you although my hair is very fine it’s curly and wavy so it’s difficult and hard to deal with but washing it every week I’m not doing that to each its own
@@saludosalsol It's a form of lightweight moisturizer. I use Mielle Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk (for all hair types). I hope I answered your question. Take care!
@@deborahtoyind.8127 sounds really good! I have fine hair so I can’t use heavy products. Thank you!
Sis, thigh length!!?!?😳 where your channel at?
@@CoilyDiaries😂 I’ve been thinking about it… 😉
Yeah right… this can’t be true
@rosiemarsh9752 why not?
Yep, experimenting is fine, but, do what works for you and keep it simple. Great message. 👍🏼
🙌🏾 🙌🏾
The worst lie was about the grease, they made my hair don’t grow for years because I wasn’t using it. My hair NEEDS grease at the ends and a lot of people needs too.Now IM pasting bra strap. Thank God we are using again.
Love ❤️ this for you sis🌺
I want to go back to grease too but I'm scared of using mineral oil
@@34july8Trust me, its good. People says it is artificial and bla bla bla, but petroleum comes from nature kkkk. We dont know what they put on "natural oils" to last so long. They dont last that long when you do it at home... shhhhhhh

Blue magic, the best!
I love this so much. ❤ After being scarred by RUclips university, I figured out some things on my own. Now my routine is simple, and my products are minimal with a huge impact. I’m loving my hair.

When the ladies are 10-15yrs in, they'll get it ❤
Well said but must it take us 15 years? All the lessons and facts we already have them!🌺
@@CoilyDiaries I think reprogramming from relaxed hair takes time.
@@JG_SmileSOBright this is enlightening!! We keep moving then… and hope more of us can get it soon!

Love your hair and I’m glad you’re sharing your input on these so called “rules “ when in reality everything doesn’t work for everybody.

I was watching for only 2 minutes and fell in love with your personality. I'm 59 and also I followed someone else trend and I'm now saving my hair with oils butter and grease😊.
Thank you 🌺 love my oils and butters!
I'm old school ,simple is better for me .
I was wondering why have we made maintaining our natural hair soooo complicated 🤔 it's absolutely ridiculous so I started doing me ,me meaning simple for me is better and thank you for this video we need to keep loving ourselves and not becoming so judgmental with each other and just keep it moving.
thanks for sharing this sis 🌺

Exactly!!
@jacquelinem1960 I will follow your example and leave mine alone. But what do you use on your scalp? Do you put anything on your hair?
ALL I KNOW IS THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE GOT RICH LYING TO US AND IT'S USUALLY PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE OUR HAIR TYPE.
speaking truth!!!
That was so on point! Often times the truth is not popular but that doesn’t make it less truth. Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome. hard conversation 😏
This is so liberating. I started my natural hair journey during the pandemic and don't intend to look back. It's growing steadily but there's too much conflicting info out there. Thank you
You are so welcome 🤗
Thanks so much. I am 65 years old. Have 4c white short hair, thin hair, bald edges. So glad for this information, much needed.
So glad it was helpful ❤️
This is exactly why I gave up on the natural hair influencers. So frustrating I didn’t even realize the no butter nor oils trend is a thing. 😂
I understand the frustration 😏
❤😊
I watched those videos for fun I literally laughed. I’m like what next start to set the hair on fire. 😂
Thanks for sharing!! so true 🌺
love this progress for you! can be challenging dealing with different textures 😏

Weekly wash is a must for me. Even though I'm not active, i have to because by day 6 my scalp is screaming on fire. 😂😂😂
Girl that’s my story too! The hair hates frequent washing but the scalp loves it! My scalp routine will be shared in a few days❤️

Very frustrating.
don’t give up on your journey. eliminate what’s not working and build a routine that you love!!❤️

Love to hear this! Merry Christmas to you too 🌺
My thing is, if it works do it! But once I stayed away from the coconut oil then my hair started to grow.
well said sis. once you find what works stick with it and don’t mind the ney sayers
I agree with you. Coconut oil and even castor oil doesn't work for me either. In fact, they give me ring worms.👍👍
couldn't have said it any better. the magical overnight hair growth is hilarious everytime i think about it lol
Crazy girl 😭😳🙄
I found one hair creme and two deep conditioners I've stuck with for years now, only use a tangle teezer brush to detangle sometimes, remoisturize with herbal or oolong tea, use satin scarves and pillow cases, and I'm doing great!
love it! thanks for sharing
You are so right. Each person's hair is different. I loved how moist and manageable and defined my hair was with glycerine! But somehow after only 1 month it relaxed my curl pattern to the point that I had to put a protein treatment and it did not revert back. So I leave that to others and it's ok! We are ALL different!
true!
A "like" just for the hair. Love, love, love it❤
thanks beautiful 🌺
I honestly can say by trying to follow all these routines, all these products, all the advice is what sent me right back to the relaxer! 🤷🏽♀️
Thank you for the common sense advice!! 👍🏾
giiiiirrrrl! totally understand this ❤️
People gotta do what works for them! If im working out a lot, I'll do a mid week cowash as well.
love this for you! stick to what’s working
I definitely agree with everything thing that you are saying but I also believe that genetic play a big part of what you hair can become.
yes that’s 100% true too!!!
Once I started washing my hair every week, thats when my hair took off! But lets get this straight, i'm not spending all day doing it. But neither do I detangle, so I must be a white girl for definite then!😁
I don't believe its about lies. its about people not wanting to spend the time finding out what works for their hair. I understand everybody has different priorities. Unfortunately it is difficult because the science hasn't been done. Black hair is not like chinese hair, there's alot of variety going on.We also live all over the world in different climates So we have to do the work and find out what our hair likes! Thats what lock down was for!
I love that you stress allowing our hair to be kinky and loving what natural is!

Years ago in 2011, listening to all the natural hair trends. Having my hair trimmed lead to hair stylists cutting off nearly all my hair off, back then, my hair never grew back. Didn't realize l was stopping my monthly cycles and my hair didn't grow back as it used to. I grew very bitter at the stylist.
am so sorry girl! this shouldn’t have happened 😞. I hope your hair is progressing well❤️
I think at the end of the day you have to be happy with your hair whether natural or processed. Also I don't do protective styles, why have hair if you're just gonna cover it up is what I believe.
couldn’t agree more!

I have jumped on many bandwagons over the past 13 years. I did learn a lot from the 30 day detox. My biggest take aways were properly washing my hair and correct shampoo selection. I loved my hair before I relaxed it, when I relaxed it and once again I am natural
love this for you ❤️
Beautiful hairstyle, love it.
@@trinigul7339thanks, this is encouraging to read
I love this! Thank you for the reassurance!
You are so welcome!🤗
If I only knwo where you are , I would come give you a big hug for every single thing you have said 🤗. Very true 👍 ❤🎉
🩷🩷🩷😊😊😊 too much love sis 🫂
Such a beautiful genuine chat! Well said!💜
Thanks hun ❤️
Thanks so much started natural hair journey in 2017 after birth of my child I have dry hair buth now this video helps allot I know what to do now thanks🇳🇱💜
You are so welcome!
I think everything you say makes sense...one thing you forgot to mention is to not to try too much at one time. I went from Aloe Vera to okra water and lost all my hair..shot me back to square one.. stay with what works ❤
that is true sis 🌺🌺🌺
I agree with literally everything you have said. Like every damn thing 😂. I’ve watched a lot of videos and this one is thee best honestly regarding natural hair. Natural hair is not hard to deal with just have to find what works for you.
For me simplicity is key. Pre poo wash, condition leave I’m and blue magic grease. Occasionally I use a gel. Depending on the style. When needed ors hair mayo for protein. We can grow hair like anyone else we do too much at times that’s what hinders the growth.
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for your honesty so many lies just to gt u to buy ther product uts sad especially whn some people are hvin hair issues and looking for some type of growth
Very dangerous and misleading

What about trimming ends? I typically do it once a year (or even once every two years) when I go to the salon and get a silk press.
me too!!
Very true lady I said it again and again but they never believe it
😏
❤❤❤❤....the part about detangling relieved my anxiety
😅❤️❤️❤️
I agree with everything you have said. Thank you for sharing your tips
Your are so welcome 🙏🏽
Onions juice work for me and my alopecia... Do what's work for you, I know laddies who only finger detangle and their hair are healthy and growing, I can't do without oil or butter. Do what's best for you!!!
glad it worked for you!!
So true and on point Sis!

Love this video. So reflective and informative. ❤️ subbed!
Thanks for subbing! welcome sis ❤️
heat is not the enemy. improper use of and improper technique of heat styling tools is what makes it damaging.
for me it is! That’s why said “for me”
Great video. Thank you. ❤❤❤

Also being healthy really makes a difference, when i started my new regimen I was doing treatment and eating a lot, i cut my hair like 3 fingers and it grew in 4 months 3-4 fingers that was the first time I saw my hair really etting longer and healthier cause I've always had very unhealthy hair cause of many health issues.
thanks for sharing 🌺 great tips too❤️
Lovely, you’ve hair is so fabulous.
Thanks sis. interesting take.. I use hair typing just to put a name to things but I know it’s a system that’s lacking in many ways
Thank you for this video. I've learned so much!
Glad it was helpful!🌺
Concerning the DIY you’re right. I decided to grow my hair in 2022 and got a lot of herbs after watching how to make hair growth oil on Yt. I did not see any changes 😭🤣. I wanted to give up but last I did a lot of research, watch different YT videos and that’s when I discovered I’ve been doing it wrong all this while. I ignored my scalp health and general health and was focusing on hair growth and also I was not doing things that would aid length retention. I corrected all my mistakes and I saw changes big one 💃. My hair is now thriving
so happy you have settled in an effective routine 🌺
Not many str addressing the fact that scalp health is very important to growth and so is good eating habits once healthy hair emerges then for that dead hair to remain in comes proper handling to keep it🎉
