Dimitris Sfounis, thanks. They needed tho be done on the budget build and I really want to video everything I do to this truck for everyone to see, you can do everything yourself on a samurai with little tools. My favorite thing about the trucks.
@@ELKMotorsports It doesn't hurt that when you make an instruction video, it's the perfect step-by-step guide :D By the way, any special care needed when DETACHING the 3 driveshafts? Or do I just go in and start unbolting?
Thank you for the hammer trick to relieve the pressure! I have ruined 2 HF vises and a 12T press jack doing u-joints over the decades. NO MORE!!! Such a common sense deal, but I never thought to do it...
OblioAndArrow , we all learn from our mistakes, it’s what makes us human. I'm just glad I could share what I've learned with y'all and it actually is useful
Just like to share that drive shafts are a balanced unit and before taking apart you can mark the parts with a cold chisel ( or steel # stamps if you have ) so that they can go back together the same way as they came apart.
Ran into the same issue getting the cross and the cup pressed enough back the other way to get the cross out I had to press the cup far enough that it would be out of the hole on the inside. Trying to move the cup back in to get the cross out The cup would miss align. It would actually gouge the inside of the yoke. OMG! Never have I had an issue with other joint removals. The clearance is less than 1/8" as you were seeing. I ordered a couple of the flanges/yokes just in case but I am worried that I will not safely remove the other end.. Uggg!
Iv'e always done it with a socket large enough that the cap goes inside of it so you can just use the vice as a press and not have to keep flipping. it also puts even pressure on the u joint.
@@tonyluttrell9435 It has been years since I used a large vice to push U joints apart, but I agree! Keep your pressing force dead square to the caps and they come out like butter! Maybe these Samurai joints have a tighter fit, but I swear I never had this much trouble pushing 60's USA Auto era U joints apart and I did many! Surely they come out easier if you use the large/small socket trick and Kroil vs WD40 overnight to get em loose! Great video!
great video buddy, I've never even thought of changing these out. its definitely on the to do list now. one tip/thaught, i think getting some heat on there would help a lot. a cheap propane torch is what? $15? what do you think? awesome sauce Budget build!!!!!!!
I just replaced my front axle but I could not find the yoke boots. Where did you get the rubber boots? Great video. I feel your pain on the u-joints. Did that about a month ago.
Gene B, you should contact Andrew Hall from Zuks of Hazard, his contact info is in the description. He had everything for sammys , and he shops world wide. He is based out of Texas.
hello, i recently bought my first sami and i've heard people break these very often on a samurai. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? or do they only break when they're worn out?
So wish you could have posted these a month ago. I see needle bearings falling out of place in my sleep now. Or actually a few years ago. Previous owner (idiot? Just a jackass?) had needle bearings fall in, didn't know why he couldn't get the caps in far enough to insert the clips. No shit welded them in. Only about $200 a shaft for new ones. Oh well.
WELL DONE! Every already existing video on RUclips on sammy u-joint change was badly done. You're the best.

Hey Chuck! Yes the struggle is real, a real pain in the rear, lol.
good to see your back posting up
Hey you’re back to posting again! Been waiting to see what the next video was gonna be on. Awesome work man!
a google user, thank you. Glad to be home and back at it.

Welcome back ! I love this Stuff - very helpful! Good Job
After remove the shaft`s i clean the Shaft`s with a wire brush, than i remove the U-Joints.
The inner Clip`s i know only by the 410er Shaft`s...
Alfred Staude, oh maybe it's a U-joint that's can go on multiple vehicles. Well spoiler I did use the inner clips, or more like I made them work lol.
All right bro good to see you back🤙
Thanks Liwai Ani
Good workout. I'm tired from just watching. 😁 👍🍺
Ray Zickrick, yeah makes me want to get the C-Clamp style tool to do them.

bannablitz247, that's a great method. I just had limited resources at the other shop
Exactly what I was wondering. Small socket on one side and larger socket on other, squeeze in vice and done.

Great video Trey. 👍
John Dudley thank you.
Okay, go ahead, greetings from Bolivia
Did Vice Grip Garage steal your music?
Just use a larger socket on one side no hammering needed
Near 10min mark, isn’t that the VGG intro track😬
Hola amigo yo tengo que llevar el Suzuki samurai 87 a rtv tiene un carburador 3k que boquillas me recomienda , gracias
Nice job! Do you make a video how to make Bierfields apart?
ka4172 I haven't... Yet.

Kris, that probably would have worked on the one I had to drill.

philippe hamal, usually they are several years old, and are bad. Also depends on how you drive, on and off-road time.
Biggest cause of premature u joint failure is an extreme working angle on the u joints.

OMG.... Some people should not be allowed to touch anything mechanical.
How many times did you cuss it. Lol
CODY SWILLEY OMG, y'all have no idea how much a pain in the rear those ujoints gave me, lol. This video can't even put it into words!
Why the irritating music?
