Man a fan like you that saw the Giants just struggle and suck for years until they finally made the playoffs in 1981 then regress for the next few years until Parcells came along and made the Giants finally relevant starting in 1984. Sadly for you guys it's not like that today. Tom Coughlin is gone, Eli is retired, and the Giants just can't get it together.
I was young, and this team was the first real team that I can remember. I'm from the Bronx, and it's kind of a NY thing. Bronx usually are Yankees/Giants fans. And I started watching baseball and football games with my old man. And he was Yankees Giants all the way. By the time the 86 Giants super bowl win, I was 13. And I can remember when Phil Simms started, and I remember the entire Giant team being against Lawrence Taylor's signing at first. And I remember being nervous that he wouldn't be signed, mainly because my old man talked about it and he was nervous. But this team was cemented as my heroes. So by the time 86 came around, I already had ulcers from watching the games that season. But with the Yankees doing not so great, this team made New York proud.
1986 was the Giants year and deservedly so. Their last championship was in 1956 when probably half their fanbase either wasn't born yet or were too little to remember. Joe Morris who was tiny compared to most of the team was the star running back. If there was a hole he could find it. Some of the '86 Giants were still with the team in 1990 when they won the Super Bowl again.
I remember all of us kids trying to reenact that play while playing in the park for the next few days. 😆 Jaworski had NO protection that day. Everyone had a piece of him that day. Even trying to get out of the pocket, he'd get nailed. One of his WORST passing games ever.
Jaworski, Kramer, White, Montana, the 86 Giants defense literally knocked so many quarterbacks out of commission that year. I always couldn't wait till the defense was out on the field during games.
One of the forgotten single-season great teams 86. Giants 14 and 2 knocked off the 86 bears who were basically just as good as the 85 bears and we're just a physically imposing dominating football team beat Joe Montana's 49ers 49-3 I'm a cowboys fan saying this, but the Giants were truly a team for the ages that season. If you was to rank the great super bowl teams, they'd have to be in the top six or seven for that season. They were just a overpowering football team in every way
@@realmusicnj yeah I knew the Redskins beat the 86 Bears when I said knocked them off. I just meant they finished with the home field through the playoffs and everything that year I miss quoted that when I said it, but yeah, I knew the Redskins were actually the ones that beat them. It’s just the 86 bears were extremely great that year too, but the Giants were even more dominant that year is what I meant.
the best Giants team was the 2007 team that beat Tom Brady's undefeated Patriots...they had the best defensive player ever in Michael Strahan and the great Eli Manning
Either your very young or you haven't watched much football. The 2007 team came together at the right time but wasn't close to as dominant as this team. These Giants destroyed the Montana 49ers in the playoffs.
Was at this game. What a great year in Giants history.
As someone who first started rooting for the Giants in 1967 I would say 1986 was their best year that I saw. Second would be the 1990 Giants.
@The Esquire of Sports® I don’t think the 89 Giants would’ve beaten the 49ers in the championship game, SF was a machine

As a fan you dream of seasons like that pure dominance the whole year. 2008 was shaping up to be that year until Plax shot himself
@The Esquire of Sports ® They weren't.
Correct!
Love this giant games from the 80 s keep them coming

I was too young to remember the 86 giants but i love looking at giant games from 86 what a year

48:15 the famous LT leap to sack Jaws
I remember all of us kids trying to reenact that play while playing in the park for the next few days. 😆 Jaworski had NO protection that day. Everyone had a piece of him that day. Even trying to get out of the pocket, he'd get nailed. One of his WORST passing games ever.
That sack was brutal!
After he’d been cut low repeatedly he finally jumps over for the NFL film classic play.
It’s the play they run on NFL films when they call LT a 3-4 blitzing LB from HELL.
Hey, I wanted to hear how those Reagan-Gorbachev talks in Iceland are going!!!
Thought the same thing.😁
reagan walked out...
First year of Buddy Ryan as the Eagles head coach. I loved Buddy Ryan.
Me too
Dan diedroff still calling plays to this day lol
Lawrence Taylor. That's it man. What a fucking player.
This CBS Open was the best. Stockton is his prime with Dan emerging as one of the best ever.
God, that field looks as hard as concrete. I had forgot how awful fake turf used to be.
Jaworski, Kramer, White, Montana, the 86 Giants defense literally knocked so many quarterbacks out of commission that year. I always couldn't wait till the defense was out on the field during games.
26:20 the definition of LT beast mode
Poor Jaworski, spent the better part of the 80s running for his life against the Giants.
The 85 and 86 giants finally had a homerun hitter with Joe Morris anytime he touched the ball and you hoped he was going to go the distance
The 1986 Giants - the best team in their history. 17 - 2.
This was my very first football game I attended. I’m an Eagles 🦅 phan.
Dick Stockton & Dan Dierdorf w the call 4 CBS!
This is great! Thank you. Any possibility of getting the 86 skins @ Giants championship?
Man, that old turf looks like it hurts!
The Vet was awful
Was there anything better than kicking the Eagles a....s when Ryan was coach!!! No!!! Love those Giants uniforms from back then.

Great team but one correction. Giants didn't knock off the Bears. Redskins did.
No, the redskins were the second best team in the entire NFL in 1986. The jints were for real that year.
OJ Anderson, sports has a way give OJ. Credit stayed in his role till 90 SB MVP. Who would have thought in 1986. Out BH.

"One day I'm 0-5 and the next day I'm 4-1." - OJ Anderson.
No offense to Michael Strahan, but both George Martin and Leonard Marshall were better players and don't get near the credit they deserve.
Especially when he hit Montana . You knew Joe Montana was going to get hit by Leonard Marshall. That hit in the playoffs was a huge hit. 💯💯💯💯💯
Makes modern nfl look trash
Why was it called the “pots and pans” theme?
1:46:00 fake FG attempt led to Harry Carson's touchdown
young jeff fisher on buddy's staff
Why is about 8:30-4:30 into the game gone? It just skips once the Eagles have the ball
CBS cut away to the Reagan-Gorbachev talks.
the eagles had the ball lol
Announcers or terrible. Nothing like madden and sommeral.
Crazy to think Cunningham was on the bench...why?
Buddy probably didn't want to expose Randall to the Giants' defense given the Eagles' sieve of an o-line
This was still the transition between the Jaworski and Cunningham era.
jaws was better
58:50 the giants run the 46.
Buddy Ryan = Classless act. Shake hands for Christ sake at end of game.
Buddy Ryan and class should never be mentioned in the same sentence.
Buddy almost got stabbed in New York that's why he doesn't go across the field and shake hands
Love the fake FG!
What a crappy field Philly was bad Detroit noleans Huston minny all turf back then was bad
The new uniforms are ugly the sin
the best Giants team was the 2007 team that beat Tom Brady's undefeated Patriots...they had the best defensive player ever in Michael Strahan and the great Eli Manning
wrong 1986 giants was the best

This team would have killed the 07 giants. Especially under the 80s rule's.
Brady would be useless in 1980s
Imagine if Eli had OJ Anderson and or Joe Morris..
