    Irish rebel music just hits different. This, Grace and A Nation Once Again are just on another level. Listen to them in that order and you'll walk through walls for a country you've never visited.

    The first slaves in the Americas were the Irish after the failed uprising in Ireland of 1641. We were exported to Barbados and Montserrat to work on the plantations, not long later the first black slaves arrived and we married into them, we call the people of Montserrat the black Irish and they are us. In our language Gaelic language we don't call African people black, we call them the blue People ( fir gorm),as we saw the light glint of their skin under the sun on the plantations as having a blue tinge. We regard the people of Montserrat today as the blue Irish our descendants as much Celt as African .

      Oh Jesus Christ this old nonsense. There were African slaves in Virginia in 1619. The Irish have been spat on by the English for 800 years, why do you feel the need to tack on some invented nonsense about being the original slaves? And furthermore, who the hell brought up America in the first place? This song is about the Irish War of Independence.

    • @ThomasMcCarthy-mu5of

      @@sewerdwayne there's nothing original about being a slave, they have always been kept, traded sold since history began and regardless of skin colour, ethnicity or religion and that will always be wrong apart from that I don't care. I never said that the Irish were first only that they were after 1641 rebellion. I didn't mention Virginia once you did. So they had a few slaves from Africa in Virginia in 1619 but none in Barbados or Montserrat. I guess Montserrat was a holiday resort for the Irish after the failed rebellion and they just went there on holidays in order to enjoy the sun. You make a silly point,a straw man argument neither I nor anyone else disputes slavery has always existed throughout all of recorded history. I just made the point that the first in Montserrat and to an extent in Barbados were Irish not African. What your Anglo ancestors were doing with other human beings of a darker skin hue in Virginia a place I never mentioned is between you and them. Song of independence you say nothing beyond that? Weird I fought in that war for thirty years in North, I lost two brothers and two cousins in that conflict and over eight friends and I fought from 72 until 1996 what were you doing.? I guess complaining about the interpretation of Irish songs of independence? I love you generation so full of itself and self righteous devoid of self reflection. Just guessing I guess you support Ireland loosing it's neutrality? Being subject to a new foreign power the EU? Joining NATO having a ruling elite globalist in nature having EU troops stationed on the island and driving cow's, drugs, firearms, plus people across an un policed border? You're full of it my friend a rebel armchair general. As quick as others would save the nation you'd piss it away. Erin go bragh, beidh an LA bua linn. Reject, Fianna fail, reject Fianna Gael, reject Sinn Fein all traitors at the EU USA feeding throughs. Vote independent for your family, village, county and country. . When this man has done some notable deed and proved his worth and value to his people then let us listen to him with respect until that time let him earn it.

    • @ThomasMcCarthy-mu5of
      @ThomasMcCarthy-mu5of 20 дней назад +1

      @@skogstjuven again a straw man argument I addressed in my previous reply fully. Did I not say in that reply that slavery has existed from time immemorial? That it wasn't confined to any race creed or colour or those who practiced it. Those who fought it in every land continent and place deserve respect and share a common purpose. I really don't know what your point is in all your posts they seem to lack purpose other than you are unhappy with what I say and they wander all over the place displaying a disorganized mind and thought process. Did I say native indigenous Americans were not slaves or kept as slaves. Will your next post tell me about slave helots kept by Spartans Roman slaves or the hundreds of thousands kidnapped by Arabs from east Africa by islamic societies? You've a very disorganised mind in my opinion. I fought the English occupation of my country for close on thirty years and earned the respect of my people, they say when I walk I rattle I've that many bullets in me. I regard the struggle I engaged in as the birthright of every Freeman and slave, universal in nature. When I was a child my mother and father couldn't vote in council elections they were disenfranchised because they didn't own the home I was born in their landlord got to vote for them. My 15 year old school friend was interned without a trial for five years not because he committed any offence or act of rebellion against the state but because his grandfather had been in the IRA 60 years earlier and so they locked him up without trial on suspicion he might have republican sympathies. My cousin they locked up for seven years without a trial and later assasinated him with a colt commando assault rifle and killed one of my brothers in the same shooting. I really don't know what your point is? Is it who were the first slaves? Is it about race or religion? Nobody knows what your point is which is why they probably don't care or listen to you or take anything your historical rambling leads to seriously. Go and serve your community and understand you and all of us must engage in something bigger than our petty prejudices a point you seem to miss entirely.

      @@skogstjuven maybe you should listen to another Irish republican song from 1798 rebellion called Father Murphy some call it vinegar hill after the battle were the English captured him and burnt him alive on a rack. The lyrics go," look out for Ireland's king George of England Search every land there breathes a slave, the cause that called us will call tomorrow in another fight to be free again", also recommend you listen to Robert Emmett's speech from the Dock 1803 in Dublin before they hung drew and quartered his body for rebellion against the crown. I recommend you listen closely and gain some knowledge before you talk. Look up Liam ( Michael) Mac liamoirs version of same on RUclips. Again your posts are rambling in nature and to no point.

    Just a bit of knowledge from a native Brit. Harris is an Southern English and Welsh surname. It's not Irish. It derives from the English name 'Harry' and became a common name after the Norman conquest period onwards. If you think you have Irish decent. It would be from Northern Ireland and not Eire (Republic of Ireland). As Northern Ireland it anglicized and is part of the UK unlike the Republic of Ireland. The Northern Irish spelling of Harris is Ó hEarchadha. If your surname is spelt Harris, you have and English/Welsh connection, not a Republican Irish connection.

      @@ko0974 You need to learn what the would “occupation” mean lad. If own my house and live in it then I am occupying it, So bloody what? Illegal occupation however is different, but the occupation in the north is not illegal is it, Learn your bloody history. Mick Collins legally signed away the 6 counties which was confirmed by the Dail on 7th January 1922. In any case only 1 in 8 people in the South now DONT want reunification with the North because they now understand the cost of that to them, which you clearly don’t. So, cope with it lad!

    The song has absolutely nothing to do with the Black and Tans or the Irish War of Independence as many people think, but its not, and the people being insulted in the song were actually Irish not English or British. You have to have read Dominic Behan's works to appreciated the "sarcasm" directed towards a specific group of Irish people by Stephen Behan living in Russell Street Dublin, during the Irish Free State era. Behan even insults his own grandmother in the song which goes completely over most peoples heads.
