As an Aussie, not Irish, I am surprised that young lady talking about the university, as knowledgeable as she was, didn't know where Leprechauns came from, or the legendary "Pot of Gold" !! Leprechauns,as far as I understand, are a central part of IRISH (not American) folklore. As for the pot of gold, at the end of the rainbow it's like a kind of fairytale / proverb/ expression I have read a couple of versions, but basically it comes from when the Vikings invaded Ireland. They buried stolen gold in pots in the ground. Once the Vikings left, the Leprechauns reburied the gold in a different place. The only way to know where the pot of gold is when a rainbow appears. At the end of the rainbow apparently lies the pot of gold. Something like that.
Well you see irish people have a different relationship to our folklore its all around us but its not spoken about, the good folk are to be respected and feared. The leprechaun is a very whimsical character comical character it makes us uncomfortable.Yes the leprechaun is based on irish folklore but i still think its very americanised. The film Darby O' Gill and the little people which was a hollywood film and most people would think it was leprechauns, but it as actuallly more in keeping with the irish perseption of fairies and infact though they had leprechaun characteristics they were more trooping fairies whereas leprechauns are said to be loners. It does make sense about the pot of gold coming from viking influence because the native irish economy was based on lifestock and wealth was measured in cattle not money it was the vikings who introduced money.. That girl sounds alot better than she actually was what she was saying about the name changing was very confused she mixed up two different historical characters that lived decades apart.
Really think Leprechauns may have existed & were akin to that of the Homo Floresiensis People found in Indonesia or Pygmy People who currently inhabit the Congo
You have seen gaelic football try and find a Hurling game. Its played at croke park but as far asi know there are no games this time a year but they are club games all over ireland finding them and getting tickets is another story however in some places you can look at a game over the fence.

You should go to an IPAS centre and to an immigration protest to understand the fact that Irish people are not racist but they also want to protect their heritage and culture and protect their indigenous land. They will treat you with absolute respect and show you that their protests aren't racially motivated it would be very interesting to see your point of view
That's exactly what the English felt like in the 1970s I can assure you -to protect the heritage. These days you have to pretend to wrap it up in something cultural to avoid being called racists - but it amounts to the exact same thing and generates the exact same feelings within local populations
@OldWolflad the Irish don't owe anything to anyone. The British empire had a duty of care to their subjects, national and international. We don't have the infrastructure to support the world.

Hi, the two breakfast items you asked about were black pudding and white pudding- they are delicious!!! If you travel down the country to Co.Kerry, one of the best makers of these puddings is Ashe butchers/pork products in Anascaul, and they are available in most supermarkets and many local cafes too. Clonakilty puddings in Cork are also super tasty. Travel outside 'The Pale' (slang for Dublin area) and check out the different slang words in other counties. 'Tis cat out' is used here in Kerry to mean it's raining heavily. If something or someone is 'banjaxed' it is broken or something is wrong physically with them. Good luck on your travels here in our Emerald Isle and if I see you in Kerry I'll be sure to say hello and give you more tips/slang. 😃👍 T
That's the central bank, not the Guinness Storehouse. Sorry, I had to correct you on that. 🙃 great video all the same. Those two circular items are black pudding and white pudding. I have read a couple of versions, but basically it comes from when the Vikings invaded Ireland.
Here's a word for you. That guy your with is what we call a Walter mitty... a spoofer, a man of many tales 😅
What's up Warriors, that video you made about your DNA was funny as S--- man😀😁😁😆🤣Get on the bus remember your DNA.
Go to Galway it's the most beautiful city in ireland
I assume you never visited NYC because when he said what's the crack meaning how are you. In old NYC slang what's cracking is the same thing.
You have seen gaelic football try and find a Hurling game. Its played at croke park but as far asi know there are no games this time a year but they are club games all over ireland finding them and getting tickets is another story however in some places you can look at a game over the fence.
As place to visit is Blarney Castle in Cork.
The irish breakfast..the first dark sausage piece.looks like "Black Pudding." 6:09 I could be wrong? Its made of pigs blood 😮
The second one..i have no idea!! 😂😂
You have to go to Gallagher’s Boxty House in the Temple bar district.
Keep On Moving 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I have enjoyed 😊
The thing you were eating was black pudding I think
Big Up Ace!! 😎 Loving this series in the UK, catching up on your videos.
its the republic of ireland not the UK
Big ups from Delaware
I was just trying to do a day trip there Saturday but kept getting warnings about a storm when booking so I opted not to. Looks like it wasn’t a storm at all I’m pissed lol

All of the public museums in Dublin are free to enter.

He's in Dublin city centre which is a historical battlefield.
That was nice Video very comics men
you sounded like you had an Irish accent ! when you said " day 2 In Ireland " @3 seconds
That's the best way to eat an Irish Breakfast, lash it all on the toast. Good man.
You need to come up to Northern Ireland for a proper Ulster Fry. It is amazing 🤩
"What's the crack?"... Chicago in my era we say "What's crakn Joe/scud?"
That's the central bank, not the Guinness Storehouse. Sorry, I had to correct you on that. 🙃 great video all the same. Those two circular items are black pudding and white pudding. Black pudding is one of the best sources of iron, coz it's made with, eh, pigs blood ie: not the same as blood sausage.
Definitely check out West Cork and Kerry. Amazing. Also Kinsale, full of history a beautiful coastal town. ❤
Loving this Leon
Visit Bruxelles pub. Used to work there. Statue of the greatest Dublin rocker outside. One of a handful of black Dubs, apart from students.
Props to Clondalkin snd Macaris. / all the chippers used to be Italian owned like that.
Howrh definitely worth a visit.
❤️👍🏽👍☘️
Get on the Dart and go see the whole of Dublin bay. Cheap tickets and great views. A trip to Kilkenny would be nice too but that is an overnight trip. Enjoy !!!! Fun in the Irish language = craic ( what’s the craic ?) any fun ?
Hey if you are staying in Dublin there are loads of things on for the Bram Stoker festival! And if you want to go further afield I’d recommend the west of Ireland mayo/connemara & cork down the south
That full Irish would be called a half Irish down the country there were no beans, no chips no mushrooms and no tea. Tea is a must with Irish breakfast.
