Welcome to all volunteers, old and new! This is a project of love for sure. What a fantastic house! Little by little it will all come together. So happy to watch as this piece of history is saved!
We love our volunteers. It is amazing how much more can get done with more hands and our volunteers are really hard workers - and joyful at the same time. We are blessed.
The right tool can make all the difference. We never seem to have the right tool here, but when we do it's great. Unfortunately, we had a break-in and most of our power tools were stolen. Ugh!
I enjoy your videos so much! I had chronic back pain for years, surgery and all, and what helped me to stop the pain was acupuncture. I hope you can find one and do it because it is a wonderful thing to be pain free. The green is beautiful, I like it better than the lighter brighter green., goes better with the brick. It will look Glorious when it's done! 💖
Getting all the pictures hung has really added to the tour experience. We are so happy Heather came up with the idea and donated all the frames and prints. She really loves this house and the house loves her!
The portraits are really going to elevate the space. There’s a lot of life bustling within the charming, historic space already! The original proprietors on display will make it feel as if they are there, somewhere, ready to return home at any moment. There’s a sense that they are around, somewhere. Maybe because it reflects my own work on historical furniture, but I’m really excited to see the shutters restored and the process it’s taking to get there. Didn’t know I’d lean so much about such a unique shade-inducing invention. Seriously goes to show the quality of such, really, delicate butterfly-wing-like (pertaining to the structural wood world) contraptions. Ending is NOT better than mending, people! We need to get the word out. Can’t wait to see the shade of historic green that will grace and complement the hard work put into their restoration.
All the portraits are now hung, and it does give a nice feel to the house. There's something about seeing the faces of the people who lived their lives here. I agree with you that as a society we are too quick to get rid of the old just because it has a little wear. These shutters are irreplaceable and the time to restore them is well worth it. I can't wait to see them painted and back on the house. I'm still hunting down some of the hardware, but they should be up soon.
I like the idea of putting portraits of Nicholas Clayton and the previous owners around the house :) I also like the original brighter green at 20:37. It's more of a Victorian shade of green. It's kind of similar to the green Caleb used on his Victorian. The current green is very dark and looks depressing lol
It's funny how little things matter. Now that the portraits are hung it really helps with conveying the history of the house when we have tours. It makes it more personal. Not only is the current green very dark and dull, It is faded and dirty. The house is imposing but also dull. We can't wait to see how the brighter green changes it.
Having the original color still on the shutters does make the decision easier since we are doing a restoration. Choosing from scratch would be such a hard decision. The original color is so different than what we have now. I can't wait to see how it changes the look of the house.
Salute to the new volunteers. I hope you get the donated paint. That would be fantastic!! Heather is a peach. I love her spirit.🤣 Working with her would make a long day more fun. I'm just amazed at the work you all do. The house has come so far. It was saved the day you closed the window.🥰❤️🤍💙
Even brutal work can be fun with the right company. All our volunteers are so positive. Heather is a real hoot! It has been such a busy year and we are already making plans for 2025. Good things are happening.
I thought Heather (light as a feather) was 25. That tree climbing segment was so great. I got my Covid, and Flu immunizations several weeks ago, and this was the first year I did it. Since last year when I got Covid December 6, I didn't want to go through that again this Christmas. I was in bed for a week after the two shots; they say that immunizations can affect your metabolism. So when I got green paint, and paint colors are tricky, sometimes not a treat, I used BUCOLIC GREEN (HGSW2301). I used it all around my garden (trellis, bench, table). Maybe that's what happened when you stood up and felt dizzy. I don't believe in "long Covid". I also got a new battery for my car, but my car AC went (was going out).
Life is always throwing us a curveball. I'm hope you get your car troubles worked out. I know it is frustrating. Just the name Bucolic Green sounds lovely.
Look at all that hard work. Once prepped, I recommend spraying the shutters rather than brushing paint. The coverage is just so good on those surfaces with spraying
We are lucky that Heather has tons of experience spraying shutters so she's going to do that for us. We are almost ready!!! It has been so much more work than anticipated.
Looks to me that the existing top layer of paint must be very faded, when you peeled bits off, the back of the piece you took off was much darker. I like your choice for the new colour.
It's suprising any paint is left on these shutters after all these years, the climate is so harsh down here. I was glad the original color was protected by later layers of paint so we could match it.
Thank you to all the volunteers 🫶❣️
They are all fabulous!

I like these random videos 😊😊. Also the right tool for the job makes a difference.

Great video. That was really nice of Heather to donate the frames and printing costs.
The big solid green swatch is a nice green. 2x👍

Kevin for the win! ... again! GO HEATHER!!!
We love them both!
It’s hard to believe the subtle differences in those paint sample books. I’m glad you had those old colors on the shutters to help with the decision!

Murphy's Oil Soap, is the one for the job on the wood frames❤!!!
That is a great product! We probably need to keep some at the house for future projects and cleaning.

Are you going to remove the paint from the hinges on the shutters?

Nice work all!
Thanks. We have a great group of volunteers who love this house.
Thank you
