It is so awesome to see all those people come by and help. It actually amazes me how many people are really willing to help these days, and give their time.❤. The yard looks like it’s moving right along! Take care!😊❤
It is wonderful that so many have donated their time and talents. This house will need a group of very committed people if the nonprofit is to be a success.
You are getting a lot of smaller jobs accomplished which all go towards the beautification of the property. So wonderful when people volunteer such a blessing.
I wish I lived closer, I would volunteer every time you would have me. I love restoration and construction work. There is this really satisfactory accomplished feeling you get when completing a restoration or construction project. I love that your community jumps in to help. ❤
Special Thanks today to Alfred, Pepper, and Micheal for doing the hard work to accomplish the tasks. You could really see the size (width) of the tree with it down and Alfred standing next to it. Another great episode.
It was a really large palm. It would have cost several hundred dollars to have it removed. The value our volunteers bring is immeasurable and it is so much fun to meed new people who love these old homes.
Amen to that. It is so sad to see these magnificant palms die. The georgous date palms can never go back, once the fungus that kills them is in the soil they won't grow again. The Texas Sabals are the hardiest so those are what we will go back with. I'l also love to see a few more live oaks and maybe some crepe myrtle for color and quick growing shade. I'm hoping in the spring we will be ready to do some planting.
Please tell the window people about Central Glass Bending in Pocola, Oklahoma. They are just across the state line from Fort Smith, Arkansas. When I worked for a millwork shop in Oklahoma City, we had them make large custom curved glass for some store fixtures for Ralph Lauren for their flagship store in NYC. They were not cheap, but cheaper than anybody else we found. They mainly make replacement windshields, but they are capable of beautiful custom curved glass.
I've passed along the information. I just noticed a neighbor got a new curved window. It has been boarded up for years. I'm going to go knock on his door and see where it came from.
Wonder if there is a big router that you could use on the brick curb? Then you could lay the rectangular bricks all the way down the missing sections and then run it over the edge to curve it. Kind of like when you do wood.
Every set-back comes with a set...forward. Yeah, that's what I'm going to go with! I hate to see the beautiful palm trees tumble down because of rot (I have a few dracaenas that are being infested with mealybugs; they KNOW it's not a cheap plant, so I need to make their 5-star hotel experience a hazardous 1-star MOTEL experience) and the basement soggy because of the ongoing problem - especially since having the basement complete and ready for occupants is such a huge goal. Again, I will say it again and again, seeing these set-backs and how you handle them encourages me with my own. Turning these set-backs into step-forwards.
It is certainly a slow progress, but you are right - it's still progress. Every small step helps us towards our goal. Sorry about your bugs. It is sad to keep loosing trees on the property. I hope we can start replanting soon.
I know that there are artists that make "slumped glass", where they put glass over forms in a giant kiln and the glass melts and forms to the shape of the form. I wonder if they could search for something like that to shape a flat glass into the shape they need using the slump technique. I usually see it used for art pieces, but I would think it could be used for that as well. Just an idea...
Maybe around 20 years ago there was a large "Easter Island" style statue in the League Kempner House backyard facing east. We saw this while on the back balcony of the Maas House at 28th and Sealy during the Homes tour. We were wondering how on earth they got it installed there. Possibly they "channelled" the ancient Easter islander vibes. I dunno.
Make sure to let us know if they find someone to curve that glass! We have a few windows that need the curved glass replaced. Frank thinks it was probably his uncle's construction company that helped build the church building across the street from the League-Kempner house.
The grounds are looking so good. The work and the volunteers have made such a difference. It was wonderful to see the concrete shop. I have one a few blocks from my home. In the 40 years we've lived here ive never been. Now i definitely want to. 😁❤️🤍💙
I wish we could be working in the house more but all work brings us closer to our goal. The weather seem to have finally gotten out of that horrible heat dome so maybe we can get back inside.

Such wonderful people to volunteer their time and resources to get this beautiful historic home back to being beautiful!! What a productive week!!
All the work adds up. Our volunteers are amazing.
It all adds up. Our volunteers are amazing.
Big thanks to all the hard working volunteers and the wonderful citizens of Galvestons!
We agree!

The outside has come such a long way. We couldn't have done it without our volunteers.

If you ever travel this way let us know. We had some volunteers from California for a day. The more the merrier!
That new stump itself could be a cool place to sit! 😁
I loved that at the Steampunk event one family used a palm stump as their picnic table.

It’s wonderful to see how many people care about this house
It is great to have such good, and friendly help.
The inside of that palm tree was fascinating! I'm so thankful for those wonderful people!
Our volunteers are the best!
@@leaguekempnerhouse agreed!!
My mom ( who loved the Lucus apartments) had the seahorse bird bath next to the sea serpent!
Your mom sounds like she had great taste, the seahorse is a classic.
I pray you put back all those palm trees eventually! They make it look so beautiful!

Thank you for sharing. So happy to meet your volunteers.
We just love our volunteers. I couldn't be doing this without them.
Neat statue shop. I could spent a fortune thier.
I hope the ad revenue is slowly picking up a little Great video 2x👍
It was so much fun to look around. We are slowly picking up steam, everything helps.

There are many wonderful people in this world. Thanks to all of them for helping 😊
Yes, there are.
Always happy to see a new episode!
Thanks for following us on this journey.

That would probably be much easier than cutting them one at a time.

I'm guessing that's how these are made, they are just so big. The small one that McNatt needs might fit better in a standard kiln.

The last owner did collect art from all over the world. You never know.
“Chainsaw Font” 😂
I know, he cracked me up!😀

That would be a really interesting connection! What was the name of his Uncle's business?
Palm trees aren;'t actually trees. Believe it or not they are technically a grass.
That's an interesting fact!
Good call, you don't really want a bunch of pot heads hanging out in the property... 😁
You got that right!
👋🏻
🙂
