The shot of the truck from the high spot really showed how nice the lawn looked mowed and cleaned up. Pulling that stump is another improvement. Each time you watch a video you always see something you missed previously. Thank you.
Was that a cast iron boot scraper that Heather found outside the door of the greenhouse? We have lots of those still extant here on the Canadian East Coast… soooo, handy. ❤
Hi Janie, I'm so curious: how does having live-in tenants work with running a venue/ museum? I suppose having people on site most of the time is great and the income will help with the restoration. It would be incredible to live there.
Good question. I'm not really sure but I think it will work out well with the right tenant. When we have tours they will probably be between 10 and 4 so mornings and evenings will be quiet. There will be some after hours events, but not that many and Galveston has a noise ordinance so everything has to shut down at 10pm anyway so there will be no late, wild nights. The apartments will have private, ground floor entrances and of course we will need to add lots of soundproofing.
The basement looks so spacious now! If I heard it right, it will be turned into rooms for apartments. If that is the case, I'm all for it. I would live down there! Basements with windows [the kind that really are true to the word BASEments rather than under...ments] are...what did they say in the 50s? THE MOST! I know it's still a long haul, but each step, big and small, makes such a difference. COPY & PASTE FROM OLD/ORIGINAL VIDEO
I can't wait to get the plywood off the windows down there. It will be such a great space. It was originally living quarters for the Kempner chauffer and at least one set of servant's quarters. We are trying to stay as original as possible.
I love how you just dig in.
That's my way. I can't stand watching someone else work and not helping.

Every little bit helps. The yard is really taking shape.
It is amazing the difference it makes to take the plywood off the windows in the basement. Those are going to be really cute apartments.
It does look much better.
Thank you
You're welcome
I just love watching your progress.
I'm so glad! Things are moving along. We are in a regrouping phase right now as we plan for the new year.
I loved seeing you ladies tackle the boards. The guys did a great job too! 💕💕💕
Thanks so much! Maribel is a great worker. She's my work buddy!

It might be a boot scraper, I'll have to take a closer look at it. We could sure use one.

Janie, that chandelier looks like it was made for gas.
There's no evience that it ran on gas. I think it was just for candles. I can't imagine it would put out enough light to make a difference.
Lot's going on
I love busy, productive days.
