  • As a 5D user for more than 10 years, i wanted to give you a real review of what the camera is capable of and where it aged badly since 2015. So have fun and enjoy this little camera Portrait.
    This video is my first of this kind. It was a hell of work to start from scratch with writing a script, creating all the shots and B-Roll. I hope it was worth it and if you liked it, I really would appreciate a like and a comment.

    Very nice compositions! Great colours. I'm getting this camera tomorrow... I used to have it before for many years, sold it and bought 5D mark III, but now I miss it and it is time to get it back! I've seen some old photos from back in the days and immediately I was like "wow", I prefer the look of that old 5D over the new one.

    With a capable camera; one can create pleasing images anytime. 5D Classic is fully capable now and will remain so as long as it keeps clicking.
    I bought a used one two years ago and couldn't have been happier. I shoot landscape and street photos with this gem. I'm a hobbyist so, I can keep creating images without feeling the obligation to be good at it. Just love and enjoy its company. I also own 5DII and take it along on distant missions. But when I'm home and shoot within my vicinity; it's always 5D Classic.

      Thank you for watching the video. 😁
      It it really still possible to create beautiful pictures with old cameras. Of course They have some limitations, but they are definitely not as bad as the marketing departments want to tell you as the new stuff is superior.
      My 5D has a screen problem now, therefore I will go inside and have a look for the wiring next year. Thankfully it was cheap, so I don’t have to be afraid that much. 🤪

    Great video mate! One can clearly see you put in a lot of effort and made it very enjoyable to watch. Personally I bought a 5D classic after watching quiet a few videos about the camera and was intrigued to try it out. Many years ago I started off with a Canon 500D and 7D which I really enjoyed the results but in the end I had to let it go due to the size/weight of the system all together. About 6 months ago I found a cheap 5D body and 50mm lens and picked it up.
    The camera did take lovely shots but for me the size/weight, outdated screen/menu system was something I couldn't see myself getting over. So after a few months of owning it I sold it off. Certainly a great camera for someone who is just starting off and has a small budget or people who like to shoot at a slower pace. But I think for me and how I shoot I value something more modern and won't slow me down when shooting. Still a great camera for many people out there for sure!

    • @manugeee
      @manugeee  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks very much! Yes, the canon 5D was my camera I used the longest time. I also shot the first years of my first child solely with the 5D. therefore the camera and the EF system has a special place in my heart. :-)
      But i see your point with the size. Today I don’t go heavier than with the Sony A7III and a smaller 50mm lens. I also could not imagine to use a 5D with the old 24-70 2.8 anymore and carry it all day long around my neck.
      But the 5D with a small prime is still a nice combo.

    • @jbstravels1741
      @jbstravels1741 7 месяцев назад

      @@manugeee I bet you would've got some very nice shots of your kid for sure mate! I own the A7 III and 50mm as well and it's about my max limit too.
      I think these days especially when I'm travelling I like using my smaller micro four thirds bodies like the GX85 and GM1 with small primes.
      Sometimes it pays to have something smaller which you can deploy quickly to get shots you would've otherwise missed.

It doesn't help that I"m really thirsty for the 5D classic. I love the Mark II, but I don't think I'm going to be complete until I get the classic.

    • @manugeee
      @manugeee  Год назад

      @@freemanchrisx hi there, thanks for the comments. The purpose of the 28-135 and the 85 1.8 are very different. One is an Allrounder of - for me - unknown quality and the other is a very sharp and nice portrait or very light tele lens with a limited use.
      You should make yourself clear what you want to do and what you need for this. If money is a thing for you, than don’t go into a 5D classic when you have a 5D II. Think about glass or some flash with remote control like yongnuo or godox That will be very much more of use than a second body. That’s what I would look for.

    • @manugeee

      It’s actually not that complicated. I usually just use a black background, a tripod with the camera placed ~1m away from the wall and a tripod with the film camera and a 90mm macro on it. Then I set scenes and close all lights in the room. For the effect I just hold a standard led panel in hand and let it float in some way around the camera that looks good. 🙃 it’s a little try and error there.
      I will think about a tutorial on this in the future. 😄
