    Great photos, wonderful family.

    One of the greatest cameras of all time ! Still have mine and I still use it. I've had the MK1, the MK2, the MK3, and the MK4...used em and got rid of all of em... EXCEPT for the 5D Classic !

    I picked up a 5D classic in 2024, and it’s a great camera. I had heard that it was good but I had no idea,,,,
    In fact, when I was out shooting it for the first time, I went to the store and bought a used 5D mkII.

      @@marshalltravis3217 the mk 2 and original 6D are great also. But the classic gives those muddy shadows I love.

    I don’t know if is it the 5D is really good or you are just a killer photographer. The quality of all those shots is top notch. I have seen people with Leica M11 shooting garbage and any of your shots blows them out of the water.

    You have been turned on to something special. I come from a film background as a photographer. And the 5D classic is the digital camera that gave me enough bravery to make the leap. I still own three since Canon will no longer service them. I intend to cannibalize for parts as long as is possible. Anyway, I enjoyed your video.

    That 28mm f/1.8 is one of the most underrated lenses, it's the perfect point between a super wide 24mm and a 35mm.

    I bought this camera in perfect condition almost 3 years ago and honestly out of all my 19 cameras I've got in my dry-box this one produces the best looking images in my arsenal. Skin colour and the grain looks so amazing in this camera.

      @Tom-Humble  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah same. I’ve got soo many cameras and yet (at the moment anyway) I tend to always grab the 5D as the images are just so great straight out of camera and editing the files is effortless.

    Thank you for making the video. I’ve been wanting to get one for ages. Finally pulled the trigger on it. The thing you said about the more analog-feeling because the rear monitor is unusable confirmed my purchase decision. I wanted to ditch all of the bells and whistles and just focus on the craftsmanship of photography for a while. Though, I’m not committed enough to shoot film. I hope this will be the sweet spot!

    After 16 years, a still own and use my 5D. Over the years I have tried many cameras like canon 6D, Fuji xt1, Nikon D700 and Sony a7iii.
    None of them can get close to 5D in terms of sharpness and color reproduction. The sensor of this camera is magical! Of course I can’t use this camera for professional real estate work, but I am using it for travel and family photography.

    beautiful video! 5Dc has been my only camera for almost 10 years now, and i haven't shot at all for the last few. was trying to decide between 5D2/3 or go mirrorless canon / sony. and this video inspired me to get a mirrorless, for smaller/lighter weight, and keep trucking with the 5Dc, instead of getting a 5D2/3 and replacing it. main thing is i'm so rusty i want some quality of life, i'm purely manual focus lenses hahaha

  • @LRPhotographer
    @LRPhotographer 8 месяцев назад +3

    The 5D Mk 1 was my first full-frame DSLR. I bought it used in the early 10s, and I was able to use the images from it to make digital negatives for alt process printing (platinum-palladium, etc.) at sizes that still came out so sharp they look like they were originally taken on medium format. That's really saying something for the quality of the camera's sensor when using sharp lenses, as it can resolve all that detail even at 12.8 megapixels.
    Though I sold it several years ago, I've been tempted to pick up another one. It does have a certain look to its images that, upon watching your video, I was reminded of and actually kind of miss. :)

    Cool video! Recently got a Nikon D700 (was attached to a vintage lens I bought) and you say it well. It's more challenging but also simple, I did a (paid) shoot with it and it does the job. Same for the Canon 5Dii, both from 2008, made to last and dirt cheap nowadays. Nikon's 12 Mpix is btw more then ok, while the 5Dmii has 20, it forces you to get i right in camera. In the end it's just a tool, but for me, these tools motivate and inspire me do grow in photography. I don't get that from the R5 :)

    Yeah first! Was waiting for this one Tom. It's such a fun camera. No, it doesn't shoot digital film but the files are so sharp and organic at the same time it sets it apart. All your family photos really let this camera shine and the edits look lovely. Did you find a late serial number? My early model has had it's mirror fall out a couple times but it's still chugging along after reglueing. Question: I'm really tempted to use my 5D classic for upcoming eventsweddings. I would like to take photos with a different style than I would have when shooting with my A7iii, not paying attention to the technology, the burst of shots, the super precise autofocus and other things. Yes, it might be crazy to shoot with the 5D instead of the A7iii, but the feeling I have shooting with the Classic is beyond. Even the look is really different in the photos. Knowing that to shoot weddings with the Classic I would have to get another one as a backup, in your opinion is it recommended to shoot with the 5Dc nowadays for weddings?

    • @georgek.5491
      @georgek.5491 7 месяцев назад +1

      I never sold my 5D and I am using it as backup body paired with the 50mm 1.4. Sometimes I deliver some photos from the 5D mixed with the Sony A7Riii and nobody can see any difference. Of course the modern features of a7Riii make my job more easy and efficient, but if you pair the old camera with some good glass nobody can see the difference.

    Hello, I really want to know how to adjust the color to be as oily as your photo? In China, the trend of color matching is led by Japan's low saturation tones, but I prefer high saturation tones like yours, the key is on the three color curves?

    Are you sure you blow your highlights with film? Which film? Slide film? Because if your using hp5 you can get away with 5 stops of overexposure easily and at 2 of under similar with tri-x or many b&w film similiar for most of color negatives even better if you use movie film such as vision 3. This Canon 5d is a beautiful digital camera with much personality thats where similarities end when comparing it to film.
