    Introduction:
This is the new Mi Band 7, which still resembles its predecessor, but now has a larger 1.62-inch always-on AMOLED display. However, as impressive as that beautiful and bright display is, can the new Mi Band 7 reliably measure and track your health metrics? Over the last few days I have done different scientific tests on this new Mi Band 7, and I found it seems to be good at some things, but also struggles with some specific measurements. Now, in other videos I have shown that the previous generation, the Mi Band 6, was pretty bad when it was launched, but it improved quite drastically with firmware updates. Let’s see if this new Mi Band 7 also needs some time to get good performance, or if it is already quite good from the start. In this video, I will do some initial scientific testing of the heart rate measurements, sleep tracking, oxygen saturation measurements and step counting of the Mi Band 7. Now, this is a first set of tests, as I just received the device this week, and a full scientific review will follow as I do more detailed tests over the next few weeks.
The first thing you will notice about the new Mi Band is that it’s bigger, with a 1.62-inch Always-on AMOLED display compared to the 1.56-inch display of the Mi Band 6, which according to Xiaomi, increases the viewing area by 25%. However, the pixel density remains the same as before at 326 PPI. Xiaomi also created new icons, new effects, and restyled data visuals to go with this larger display. The Mi Band 7 is said to have 120 sports modes, and now has continuous blood oxygen monitoring and low SpO2 alerts. In addition, the Mi Band 7 also has all-day heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring and also stress monitoring, which as you might know, I am generally quite skeptical of. The Mi Band 7 is water resistant up to 5 atmospheres, similar to the Mi Band 6, which means it can withstand water pressures equivalent to a depth of 50 meters. The main thing that is lacking is that it still doesn’t have built-in GPS. Xiaomi says that the Mi Band 7 has a battery life of 14 days with regular usage, however, I haven’t been able to validate this yet. Also, a lot of the more advanced features, like always on display, continuous SpO2 measurements and stress monitoring will drain the battery faster. It is a bit unclear what the band will sell for in the US and Europe, but it will probably be around 50 dollars. Now, I was able to connect the Mi Band 7 to two different apps on iOS: Mi Fitness and Zepp Life. I ended up using Zepp life, because that was the only way I was able to export my exercises to Strava. I had to do it indirectly though, by logging into the normal Zepp app with the same account.

      Hi Rob!
The new mi band 8 is out. And the manufacturer is different from the past generations. This generation is directly manufactured by Xiaomi, while the past ones were actually by Amazfit.
I tested the accuracy of its optical heart rate sensor. Compared to my chest strap, it’s surprisingly accurate. Even does not have the 5 sec delay which the Apple watches do.
Can you do another comprehensive review of the new Mi band 8?

Thank you so much for this review! Made me go for this product, and I keep coming back to your video. I needed a device that's small on the wrist and tracks fitness data with reasonable precision and can help me gauge my sleep stats (primarily deep sleep) so I can understand how to sleep better. The fact alone that this records steps, distance, heart rate, and deep sleep accurately enough for a layman (coupled with my phone, it also tracks my exercise routes super accurately) is perfect for me in and of itself and this device has so much more to offer in terms of notifications when you reach your steps goal for the day. It tells you when you've been sitting for too long, has guided breathing exercises with vibrations on your wrist to help you calm you down, etc. I also have vibration alarms that remind me to go to sleep at a regular time and help me get up in the morning (without bothering my girlfriend!). Most importantly, this device is discreet and helps me gamify my daily exercise, making me walk more and and make an effort to stress less, and it generally gets me stoked to take better care of myself. I like wearing a classic wrist watch as my main watch, and I can just put this on the opposite wrist and turn off the screen. It's light and sleek enough that I don't even notice it's there. Also, the screen is awesome. Highly recommended!

Thorough coverage. I have been using an Amazefit Bip for several years and was a bit disappointed to how poor it compared to other similar devices. So this review made it clear that I should consider replacing it. So I will subscribe and make up my mind on the basis of you reviews and my specific needs. One note, I don’t want something like the Apple Watch that requires daily charging. I really like the Amazefit I have because it goes for weeks. Thanks

Love your content. your videos helped me choose a device with much higher confidence. Here's an idea to quantify the accuracy of the GPS data. Export your GPS data on the map as a png (Screen clipping should work), then with a digitizer tool such as webplotdigitizer, get the x and y coordinates of the tracks with a predefined spacing. For the reference, use a predefined route, drawn on the map or imported, then export the coordinates with the same spacing values for both x and y. The difference between two data sets should be straight forward from there. Admittedly, this approach doesn't include the time variable of the acquired locations for the track. But probably, that does not matter much as long as one data point at a stationary location can be confirmed that was acquired within a reasonable time frame. Let me know what you think if you read this comment.

Amazing videos, especially with the amount of scientific analysis you do on different products to let the consumer what's the best wearable for them. :D
If you don't mind, could you do an analysis of Pebble Cosmos Luxe SmartWatch? Thank you :)

I just stumbled upon your channel and I'm mindblown by the effort and precision of your reviews! I have a request for more Garmin devices to be reviewed, like the cheststraps and Garmin 735xt, I have the watch and I'm considering getting the hr strap for health reasons, I hope you can make it happen! You have a new subscriber

Hi Rob. I have a question. Now that we have a fairly accurate oxygen measurement that works 24/7 even during sleep. Could we potentially use that to detect sleep apnea?

I found my answer. Rob actually did make a video about using wearables to detect sleep apnea. Just look for it in his channel. Good work Rob

Love this channel! Would be great to see if the firmware updates fixed some of the issues. Especially interested if the sleep tracking and outside heartrate improved.
The firmware updates usually only indicate 'fixed bugs' - so that doesn't tell you anything.
Probably a lot of work, so can understand if for such a cheap device it is not worth the effort. Subscribed!

Many thanks for your very interesting review.
Just a question please, in the menu of the smart band we can set an alarm when the oxygen level reach 90% (or 85 OR 80) which seems very very low.
    My question is the following:
Why Xiaomi allows to set an alert starting to 90% (not above) while it is commonly admitted that below 94% you're in a real danger?
    Thank you.

I have to ask too. I bought this bracelet because I read that it has a reading consecutive Blood oxygen test. which checks all the time and gives a warning that the number is too low.
So I have some problems with mi band 7
      1. It's not really a continuous checker. It checks from time to time. I didn't understand how it was absolute. Sometimes it's 3 times an hour and sometimes only every few hours check
.2. Why did they set us 3 percentage levels below which a warning comes? Why not let us pick a number? For example below 92
Problem number 3 is the alert. It doesn't really work. I don't get a notification and I see in the application that there were low indicators
.Are there other bracelets/watches that can measure oxygen in the blood. Continuously and give an alert ?

Another great video! Do you have any plans to test the new Garmin Forerunner 255? Your Garmin videos seem to do well with views, and this device generated a lot of excitement because it includes a lot of the higher-end functions for $350 (plus the inclusion of the S model for smaller wrists). Thank you for your dedication to this channel :)

I wish there were some quantitative way to compare the vibration strength between watches. Waking up from the alarm is a feature I use a lot and I know others do also. Some watches and bands have stronger vibration - others can barely be felt. Something like strapping the watch to a dowel then attaching a phone and using an app that displays the accelerometer value should be able to measure the vibration.

    • @0522777004
      @0522777004 Год назад

Is there really an option to strengthen the vibrations? Really weak and short
